With his focus on the level of the red wyvern they'd be fighting against, Valyr briefly thought back to what he and the other four guilds had discovered during their first two attempts on the world raid.
'After we were booted out of the raid because we were unprepared for the tail sweep, the other guilds discovered that the order in which we cleared the paths could significantly reduce the difficulty for the other paths,' muttered the young man to himself inwardly.
'Then, during our second attempt, we were able to find out how much it would be reduced.'
Having taken a slow and steady approach on their second attempt of the world raid, Valyr and the others waited near the spawn area of the red wyvern, their eyes slightly widening in surprise after seeing its strength go down the moment a path was cleared.
'For every path that was cleared in order, 10 levels would be reduced from the red wyvern we'd fight.'
Though this discovery allowed Valyr and his group to let out a wide sigh of relief, the entire group was only able to figure out the order for two of the paths, prompting the red wyvern's strength to stop at the early levels of Rank 5.
Yet, even though it was significantly easier than the red wyvern they faced during their first fight, it still readily handed their ass to them with its follow-up attacks, prompting Valyr and the others to refine their combat strategies for the final attempt.
'Fortunately, the order we decided to use this time around was correct,' thought the young man to himself with a slight smile as he closed up his screen.
With a reduction in 40 levels, the red wyvern's strength had now been reduced to the early levels of Rank 4.
Although that level of strength was still impossible to surmount for a player at Valyr's current rank, that much of a reduction finally made it more than doable for them to clear, especially since there were 40 of them working together to fight it.
'Of course, we still have to be careful. A single hit from it would still kill any one of us if unprepared.'
Giving everyone a reminder to not let the red wyvern's level fool them into thinking its attacks wouldn't kill them, the young man took in a deep breath as he moved closer to the red wyvern.
Not long after, Thomas and the other three followed after him, only for the remaining people making up the group to follow suit after that.
Recognizing the roles all of them had to fulfill for this fight, the entire group got into their respective positions as Valyr stood near the center of the formation.
"Vanguard! Support! Prepare your defenses!"
"[Taunt]!"
"[Shield]!"
"Hey, you big red lizard! Come take a look at my shiny shield!"
With the red wyvern still going through its monologue of showing disdain towards Valyr and the others, the group quickly got to work, with those at the forefront already steeling themselves for the attack that would eventually hit them.
"[Radiant Blessing]!"
"[Defense Aura]!"
"[Basic Turtle's Blessing]!"
Of course, not wanting the vanguard to immediately fall the moment they received the wyvern's first attack, the support team immediately bombarded the vanguard with tons of defensive buffs while also boosting everyone's stats up for the upcoming fight.
"All of you are fools."
Coincidentally, just as the support team was done empowering everyone for what was to come, the red wyvern made its move.
Whoosh!
Continuing to show disdain towards Valyr and his group for standing before it, the red wyvern slowly turned around, causing its tail to move at great speeds as it aimed for the vanguard.
Bang!
Hearing the loud sound caused by its tail sweep, the red wyvern was confident that it had killed yet another group of the envoys that annoyed it.
"Hmm…?"
Yet, just as it turned to look at how much damage its attack caused, the wyvern was instead surprised to find out that none of them had received any damage whatsoever.
"What…?"
"Attack!"
Just as the red wyvern was confused as to what was going on, Valyr took the opportunity to lead the offensive, sending a command to the support team to start bombarding the red wyvern with all the debuffs under their belt.
Whoosh! Swoosh! Bang!
"Agh!" Though none of the debuffs had the potency to last for any duration longer than a few seconds, the red wyvern was still affected by it, causing its senses to be muddled as the DPS teams finally began to attack.
"[Piercing Arrow]!"
"[Resonant Blade]!"
"[Salsa No. 5]!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
With the vanguards protecting those that were dealing damage from slightly afar, most of the latter could rest at ease, continuing to dish out damage to the red wyvern as the support team cast debuff after debuff on it.
"You… you dare…?!" But of course, that didn't mean the red wyvern would just take all of their attacks lying down.
"DPS, retreat! Vanguards, defense!" Seeing the large wyvern jump into the air all of a sudden, Valyr quickly sent commands to everyone in preparation of what was going to happen.
Crack! Crack!
Swiping down with all its might, the red wyvern brandished its claws against the vanguard once more, hoping that focusing all of its might would cause at least some of them to fall to its attack.
Unfortunately, with its strength reduced and the envoys' defense increased, the most it could do was break the barriers the vanguard had conjured.
In fact, Valyr had conjured a barrier of his own around them just in case, only for it to turn out that the red wyvern could only break through the one his members had conjured.
Seeing this, the flames of ambition began to burn deep within the young man, realizing that they had the entire fight under their control.
"Support, debuffs! DPS, go all out! Reconnaissance, rear support!"
"Got it!"
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
With the red wyvern's momentum broken by how its attack failed to kill at least one of them, the Azure Coalition doubled down on their offensive, dealing more than enough damage for them to achieve an objective that wasn't on the task given to them.
Beating it to death.
