Chapter 239: Ruling over the World

Evangeline snapped her fingers, and as if a veil had been lifted, Xin blinked, suddenly regaining his sanity.

The haze that had clouded his mind dissipated, and he found himself once again in control of his thoughts.

"I told you . . . don’t stare at me, or you’ll be charmed," Evangeline chuckled, her voice now carrying a melodic tone that seemed to linger in the air.

Xin had initially thought she was joking, dismissing her warning as a mere jest.

However, he now realized that her words were far from playful banter; they were a literal caution against her supernatural charm.

It dawned on him that this ability must be one of her passive skills, a trait inherent to her vampire Queen status.

Driven by curiosity and a need to understand the extent of her power, Xin decided to inspect her stats. What he discovered nearly made his eyes bulge out of their sockets.

The matured Evangeline possessed stats equivalent to, if not higher than, Elysia, the powerful sea elf who had aided him in his journey thus far.

Not only were her stats impressive, but she also had an extensive list of high-level spells and skills, each one more formidable than the last.

It became undeniably clear to Xin that she was not just any vampire but a force to be reckoned with — a true embodiment of her title, "The Vampire Queen."

"The Vampire Queen . . ." Xin uttered in a daze, his voice barely a whisper.

Evangeline laughed, her laughter echoing in the chamber. With a graceful movement, she flipped her long, lustrous hair.

"Now that I am freed from my captivity, it’s time to rule over the world," she declared.

Xin’s brows furrowed, his mind struggling to process her words. "What?" he asked.

He blinked several times as if hoping to dispel the incredulity of the situation. "Rule the world?" he repeated like he had misheard her.

"A woman got to have ambitions." Evangeline beamed at him and casually said, "Since you’re the one who freed and saved me, you shall become my right-hand man, my most loyal servant. I won’t kill you, but you must be prepared to offer me your blood whenever I desire it."

Xin stood there in stunned silence. The transformation of the once-childlike Evangeline into this regal and commanding presence was nothing short of astonishing.

While her childlike appearance and personality had vanished, her inherent arrogance had only grown, casting a shadow of authority around her.

"Wait, before that," Xin interrupted his voice cautious and laced with trepidation. His mind raced with apprehension; had he unwittingly unleashed something far more dangerous than he could comprehend?

"What do you mean by ’rule the world’?"

Evangeline’s lips curled into a subtle smile, her crimson eyes reflecting a mixture of amusement and ambition.

"My dear servant," she purred, her words dripping with confidence, "I intend to reclaim my rightful place as the ruler of all vampires and, by extension, assert dominance over the entire realm.

"With my powers restored and your unwavering loyalty, we shall shape the world according to our desires. All shall bow before the might of the Vampire Queen. Ahahahaha!"

Xin’s mind raced with disbelief and concern. ’Wasn’t this bad?’ he thought, his thoughts a whirlwind of uncertainty.

"By the way, servant . . . what year is it today?" Evangeline inquired, her voice carrying a mix of urgency and anxiety.

Xin responded, revealing the passage of time. Her reaction was immediate and extreme –– her eyes widened as if struggling to grasp the weight of the centuries that had slipped away during her captivity.

"What?! It’s already been more than a hundred years?!" Evangeline’s grip tightened, her nails digging into her palms, her gaze narrowing at the remnants of Lord Valerian.

In a swift movement, she teleported to his ashes, her fury blowing over the roof. With a mixture of disgust and resentment, she spat on the remains and stomped her heels against the poor man’s dust.

"This is all your fault! I wish I could revive you so that I can kill you over and over again! You wretched traitor!"

Xin watched her silently, witnessing the volatile blend of vengeance and immaturity in her actions. There was a strange contrast in her behavior, a stark difference between the ancient power she possessed and the childlike whimsy that still lingered within her.

But then, as if snapping out of her fit of anger, Evangeline’s expression shifted. "That’s right. It has been so long, so everything must have changed. I have to go out there and see the world, find some nice restaurant and shop, and enjoy––ahem . . . I mean, study the new world so I can plan how to conquer it! Ahahahaha."

Xin gave her a deadpan stare.

Before he could utter a word, however, Evangeline vanished into thin air without any rhyme or reason.

A heavy silence descended upon the chamber, and Xin looked around, uncertain of what to do.

"W-what . . . what happened?" he muttered to himself, feeling lost on how to proceed.

Just when he moved from his spot, Evangeline reappeared, causing his heart to almost leap out of her throat.

"Oh, that’s right. I almost forgot about you," Evangeline said casually, her tone dismissive. "I’ll be exploring the world for a while. But I won’t leave you empty-handed."

Evangeline’s hand deftly slipped between the generous curves of her ample bosom, retrieving a peculiar vintage dial telephone.

Its design seemed oddly resembled the real world, leaving Xin to wonder what he would do about it. His eyes darted toward Evangeline’s chest, then quickly averted, feeling a tinge of embarrassment.

’Is there some kind of another dimension in there?’ Xin asked himself because how on earth could that dial telephone fit in there. He tried to maintain a semblance of composure while his curiosity piqued.

"Here, this is for you," Evangeline said, her voice surprisingly casual given the circumstances. "If you need me, just give this a ring. But try not to bother me too often, especially if I’m indulging in my meals, shopping, or enjoying my spa time. Call me only if it’s truly important, mm-kay~?"

". . ." Xin wondered how shopping and spa could lead to ruling the world.
