Chapter 228: Trial by Frost

The Giant Snowworm, this formidable foe, parent to the smaller worms, lay in wait, ready to strike at any intruders with its immense size and the cold aura of its lair.

Navigating this room required not only skill and strategy but also immense courage. The group had to formulate a plan, a cohesive strategy that could stand up against the might of the Giant Snowworm.

Xin and the others stood at the precipice of the room, their hearts pounding with dread.

Before them, the dark void of the giant snowworm’s lair seemed to swallow all light. It was an imposing sight, with the faint mist hanging in the frigid air, creating an eerie atmosphere.

"A Giant . . . Snowworm," Yuzuro muttered in sheer helplessness. "Are we really expected to face a boss-level monster in this dungeon with just the three of us?"

Midnight Duchess took a deep breath. "Now I comprehend why so many players fail in this dungeon," she said, addressing their leader, Lord Schrodinger. "Our only option seems to be fighting it. Should we press on or forfeit this dungeon altogether?"

Xin cut to the chase. "What’s our chances of survival?" he asked.

"Slim. We lack the necessary items and manpower to confront such a formidable foe," Midnight Duchess admitted.

"So, it’s a fifty-fifty shot?" Xin declared.

Yuzuro protested vehemently, her voice laden with worry. "No, no, no! This can’t possibly be a fifty-fifty situation. Just look at the size and stats of that thing!"

"Nevertheless, we will press on," Xin said decisively, his resolve unwavering.

Midnight Duchess chuckled lightly. "I know you’re going to say that."

"Are any of you even listening to me?" Yuzuro groaned, her frustration mounting. "Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrible idea?" Yuzuro lamented, her anxiety palpable.

"It’s weak to fire, so summon your Elemental Golems," Midnight Duchess instructed. "Your Abyssal Golems and I will handle the damage, and your Basic Golems will act as our tanks. Let’s make the most of what we have."

Midnight Duchess’s eyes glinted sharply as she addressed Yuzuro, her voice carrying a hidden threat. "Hikari, ensure you keep us alive with your healing abilities. Letting any of us die is not an option. Do you understand?"

Yuzuro shivered involuntarily under the weight of Midnight Duchess’s words. "U-Understood," she stammered, feeling the pressure of her eyes glimmering ominously.

Was she truly a part of this team? Yuzuro lamented silently.

After Xin finished summoning five Basic Golems and five Elemental Golems, they made the collective decision to engage the boss.

As they ventured further into the room, their every step was careful, and their breath hung in the frosty air. The icy floor beneath their feet shimmered ominously, concealing hidden secrets within the frozen surface.

Their anticipation and dread grew with each passing moment, for they knew they were about to face a formidable foe.

Suddenly, the earth beneath them trembled, and from the depths of the lair, the colossal creature emerged. Its serpentine body, covered in frosty scales, coiled and undulated, reveals its massive size.

Its maw, lined with rows of sharp, icy teeth, glistened malevolently as it let out a guttural growl, sending shivers down their spines.

Xin and the others knew they had no time to waste. With lightning-fast reflexes, Midnight Duchess sprang into action, her keen instincts guiding her.

She had dealt with creatures like this before, and she understood the importance of strategy and timing.

With a mighty roar, the Giant Snowworm lunged forward, jaws agape, aiming for Xin, who had created a line of his Golems to act as a barrier.

Its enormous bite, like an avalanche of ice, came crashing down upon the Golems with tremendous force. The impact sent shards of ice flying in all directions as the Golems valiantly tried to hold back the beast.

Xin’s quick thinking of reinforcing another Basic Golem whenever one perished had bought the group precious moments to respond.

Midnight Duchess leaped into the fray, her blade gleaming with anticipation. She slashed at the snow worm’s coiled body, striking true and drawing a deep gash in its frosty hide.

The creature let out a deafening screech, a mixture of agony and anger.

Yuzuro, despite her earlier tumble, regained her composure and focused her healing magic on her comrades, mending their wounds. She knew that their survival depended on her abilities as a healer.

The worm, in a desperate counterattack, exhaled a blast of freezing snow in a 15-foot cone [Snow Breath].

The freezing blast engulfed Xin and the others, who scrambled to avoid the icy onslaught.

Midnight Duchess, Xin, and Yuzuro managed to dodge the brunt of the attack while the Golems took the full force of the freezing gale.

The biting cold seeped through their armor and into their very rocky bones, causing them to freeze momentarily.

Xin summoned more Golems to reinforce their defenses, and they engaged the worm in combat, biting and clawing at its scaly form.

The Elemental Golems spread out to minimize getting hit by the AoE attack of the worm, at the same time firing fire spells nonstop to reduce the worm’s HP.

Midnight Duchess continued to dance with the snow worm, avoiding its deadly Bite attack and delivering precise, calculated strikes.

In the midst of the battle, with adrenaline pumping through their veins, the group fought valiantly against the Giant Snowworm.

Their attacks were precise, their defenses tight, yet the colossal beast proved to be an adversary not easily subdued.

As the battle raged on, Midnight Duchess, Xin, and Yuzuro maintained their focus, each of them playing their respective roles in the fight.

Midnight Duchess unleashed a flurry of blows with her weapon, her movements swift and calculated, dealing substantial damage to the snow worm. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Xin directed his Golems, using them both as a shield and an offensive force, their stony bodies absorbing the brunt of the worm’s attacks.

Meanwhile, Yuzuro, true to her nature as a healer, kept a watchful eye on her teammates’ health, ready to mend their wounds and keep them in the fight.

However, despite their efforts, the Giant Snowworm was not easily fooled. It sensed a momentary weakness in Xin’s defenses, a tiny gap in the protective wall of Golems.

In an instant, the Snowworm seized the opportunity. Its enormous, icy maw snapped forward with lightning speed, Icy spikes spew, aiming for Xin.

Yuzuro saw the impending danger. "Lord Schrödinger!"
