MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 227: Frostfall’s Icy Challenge
"Your golems really are handy," Midnight Duchess said as they walked across the bridge. "They have a variety of classes and skills. They can be a tank, DPS, mage, or even a support. Looks like you’re a one-man team."
"My level is still low, and they’re not without their weaknesses," Xin said and added, "The golems took a lot of materials to create and are quite slow. You need to add another rare material to the mix if you want to make them faster or give them extra damage and features, and such."
"Still, you’re only at a low level. Once you get to our level, you’ll be an unstoppable force."
While Xin and Midnight Duchess were talking. Yuzuro couldn’t shake the feeling that the snakes were lurking above them, ready to strike. She gestured urgently to Midnight Duchess and Xin.
"G-guys . . . lower your voice. These snakes seem to be watching us, ready to attack," Yuzuro said in a hushed tone, her eyes never leaving the ceiling for fear of sneak attacks.
"Yuzu, watch your step," Xin warned, a note of concern in his voice. "You might fall."
Just as he uttered the words, Yuzuro slipped, letting out a high-pitched shriek as she teetered on the edge of the chasm.
Luckily, Midnight Duchess, with her lightning-fast reflexes, swooped in just in time, saving her from a potential plummet.
"T-thank . . ." Yuzuro stammered, her voice shaky.
But before she could finish, the icy spikes on the ceiling trembled and hurtled toward them because of her high pitch shout.
"Agh! The spikes are falling!" Yuzuro’s eyes widened in sheer terror as the sharp tips of the spikes closed in on her face.
"Grit your teeth and don’t bite your tongue," Midnight Duchess barked, still holding onto Yuzuro.
Yuzuro was utterly bewildered, not grasping Midnight Duchess’s cryptic advice until she was unceremoniously hurled into the air and catapulted to the other side.
"Agh!" Yuzuro’s scream echoed through the chamber as she crashed hard into a wall of ice, her face meeting the cold, unforgiving surface. Fall damage and bludgeoning damage –– a double whammy.
Meanwhile, Midnight Duchess sprinted gracefully to the other side, her cloak billowing dramatically behind her.
On the other hand, Xin’s Abyssal Golem had swiftly carried him to safety, its large, stony arms wrapped protectively around him.
As if nature itself conspired against them, the poisonous snakes rained down alongside the icy spikes.
In the chaos, the bridge, along with the hapless Basic Golems and Elemental Golems, was obliterated.
Midnight Duchess clicked her tongue in annoyance. "What a waste . . . and just when I was starting to like those golems."
Xin sighed, his shoulders slumping. "It’s one of its disadvantages. Since it couldn’t run as fast as the Abyssal Golems, it always got caught in traps and ended up destroyed."
"What a waste," Midnight Duchess said again. "So, how many Golems do you have left this day?"
"I’ve got around twenty more," Xin replied, mentally calculating the golems he had left for the day.
"Good, save those for now," Midnight Duchess advised. "We might encounter a boss, and I’ve got the damage covered. Just create them for defense, and if we ever need elemental damage."
Xin nodded in agreement. It was unusual to hear Midnight Duchess being so talkative; usually, it was Victor who issued warnings and instructions based on his experience.
With Victor gone, it seemed she had taken it upon herself to guide the team since she was the higher level players reaming in the group.
"Let’s not waste any more time here," she continued, her voice firm and decisive.
Xin was about to comply when a thought struck him, and he abruptly stopped.
Bending down, he brushed off the snow from a small, black figure. "Are you okay, Pudding?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Pu~
"I’m so glad you’re alright," Midnight Duchess chimed in.
Yuzuro’s muffled voice emerged from under the snow, indignant and slightly dramatic. "Aren’t you going to ask about me?" she grumbled, attempting to dislodge her face from the icy floor.
Midnight Duchess raised an eyebrow, her expression one of exaggerated surprise. "Oh, you’re still here? We thought you became a part of the decor!" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Of course I am! No thanks to you!" Yuzuro retorted, her voice a mix of irritation and exasperation.
Xin scratched his head innocently, looking genuinely puzzled. "Sorry, Yuzu. I thought you died when you hit the wall."
"What! I knew it! You guys are secretly plotting to eliminate me!" Yuzuro exclaimed dramatically, her voice echoing through the icy chamber.
Midnight Duchess rolled her eyes and issued a no-nonsense command. "Stop crying and heal yourself if you don’t want to be left behind."
As they forged ahead, Yuzuro had no choice but to swallow her indignation. She wiped her tears, muttering under her breath as she begrudgingly followed Xin and Midnight Duchess to the next room.
"I’ll show them. I’ll survive this, and become stronger and become the best healer in the all of Guildbane. Let’s see if they don’t prostrate before me just to ask for my aid."
At the thought of Xin on his knees, begging at her to be his healer sent a dopy smile on Yuzuro’s face as saliva dripped from the side of her mouth.
As the group ventured deeper into the Frostfall Sanctum, they found themselves facing a series of chilling challenges that tested their wits, bravery, and teamwork.
In the fourth room, a sense of eerie anticipation hung in the air, the space shrouded in a faint mist that clung to the frigid atmosphere.
In the room’s center yawned a gaping hole, a dark void that exposed the nest of a fearsome creature –– the giant snow worm.
Its enormous form coiled within the depths of the lair, surrounded by a shimmering ice floor that concealed hidden secrets beneath its frozen surface.
The room itself seemed to echo with the presence of the colossal worm, an entity that struck fear even into the hearts of seasoned adventurers.
