Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 807 - 27: Gathering of the Songstresses_2
"Senior Ailu Kelu," Blanchi turned her head to see the cat-eared songstress making her entrance.
"Hi, good evening, you guys~" Ailu Kelu bent slightly and looked sideways at the four of them, greeting them.
"How's the evening going? Are you getting used to school?"
"We're having fun," they answered in succession, generally feeling pretty good.
"Haha, the fun is yet to come." Saying so, Ailu Kelu took the four of them through a side corridor of the hall to the backstage, finding Audrey removing her makeup and Prin sitting on the sofa.
"Take a seat." She clapped her hands, inviting the six songstresses to sit in front of her.
"It's rare to gather so many junior songstresses~" She seemed to sigh with sentiment.
"The Full Moon Lantern Festival is traditionally a time for reunion. But since you all probably can't go home tonight, the school has had a custom over the years."
"As senior songstresses, we will celebrate the festival with our juniors and cook something delicious for you."
"When I first entered the school, there was only one senior songstress, which was 'Sparkling Wine' Glide."
"It might be a bit disrespectful to say, but Senior Glide was really unreliable, always drunk and a heavy drinker."
"Consequently, after the evening party, she took me to a bar and ordered a lot of drinks for me." Ailu Kelu's ears flopped to the sides as she said this, then she shook her head slightly.
"However, the next year, when Jian Xin'er and Luo Fenghua joined, things got much better. Both of them were quite the demure ladies. So, the three of us formed an alliance to jointly resist the oppression of our senior, essentially saving several subsequent Full Moon Lantern Festival dinners."
"Later on, after 'Sparkling Wine' Glide graduated, the three of us advanced to our third year, which meant we had less time to study in school as most of it was spent on external practice, and the opportunities to get together became even rarer, either Luo Fenghua or Jian Xin'er was not on campus."
"This situation continued until Audrey and Prin enrolled, which gradually changed things. And then this year, four new songstress freshmen arrived, making things a lot livelier." She put her hands on her hips as she reminisced about the friendships with Luo Fenghua and their intelligence battles with the senior.
"They both can't make it back today, but they've always been very thoughtful and have already mailed me gifts to pass on to you."
After saying this, she clapped her hands, and the door to the room opened. Two rabbit-eared girls walked in with boxes, put the things on the table, bowed, then looked curiously at the songstresses in the room before leaving somewhat reluctantly.
Unpacking the box, Ailu Kelu extracted a beautifully carved food box with a fiery Phoenix Bird pattern on the top, surrounded by a Full Moon and the shadows of laurel branches.
Upon opening the lid, a gentle fragrance of sweet osmanthus wafted out, with seven pale yellow pastries arranged inside.
"The one in the center is definitely for me, hehe," said Ailu Kelu as she picked out the one in the middle to show everyone.
"This is the Full Moon pastry sent by that lass Luo Fenghua; she probably made it by hand." After saying this, she took a bite, revealing a translucent, amber-colored filling with a few sweet osmanthus petals inside.
"When she was still at school, she liked to make these little pastries, and Jian Xin'er and I used to eat a lot of them. Sometimes, feeling sorry for us, she'd even pull us in to help, saying let's do it together."
"Unfortunately, neither Jian Xin'er nor I was very good at these things, and after a few attempts, she simply stopped letting us help." Ailu Kelu said, a bit nostalgic.
"Come on, take one each, be careful." She beckoned everyone forward and handed each a round Full Moon pastry.
Upon receiving it, Tilan sniffed curiously and caught the gentle scent of sweet osmanthus, then took a small bite.
The texture was soft and glutinous, but not greasy, and it even had a mild, refreshing coolness to the taste.
She had actually tasted quite a few traditional pastries from The East, but many of them were very sweet, or too oily, making it easy to get tired of them, and she did not particularly like to eat them.
But this time it was different; it seems that senior Luo Fenghua had specially improved many of them.
The other songstresses also slowly finished the pastries in their hands, some feeling it was great, others left wanting more, and some were indifferent, like Ores.
Afterward, Ailu Kelu opened another box, which was a gift from Jian Xin'er. Upon lifting the lid, inside were seven neatly arranged flower hairpins, each of different designs, all exquisitely made.
"Jian Xin'er is actually giving a gift in the style of The East." Ailu Kelu was somewhat incredulous, then took out one of the flower hairpins.
Even though it was not specified who it was for, anyone with a discerning eye could tell the hairpin with a design resembling cat ears made of black and purple pearls was meant for Ailu Kelu, with two long pendants like cat tails underneath, glittering brilliantly.
"Hmm, consider this a passing grade. She still remembers what I like." Ailu Kelu placed the cat-eared black and purple pearl hairpin among her locks, which made her look somewhat attractive and cute, lively with a touch of cheekiness.
"Next, this one must be for Shui Yianqing." She pulled out another, this one adorned with a blue water moon decoration, with small, delicate seed pods hanging from the side pendants.
"This one is definitely for Audrey." This hairpin featured the silhouette of a swan and in the middle bloomed white peach blossoms, radiant but not demonic.
"This one with snowflakes and Ice Crystals is Ores's." Another hairpin was passed along, with white flowers wrapped in silver threads on top, the edges of the flowers dotted with some snowflakes, and even the side pendants patterned with snowflakes and Ice Crystals.
"This is for Prin." This one had a vivid Hong Lian on the hairpin, which matched Prin quite well.
"Blanchi's, no doubt." Ailu Kelu handed over a hairpin embellished with verdant grass leaves to Blanchi, with bright green and white flowers blooming in the center of the hairpin.
"Lastly, for Hexia." The pure black petals were mysterious and elegant, with blue silk stamens in the center, the only bright color being the pearls that dotted the side, twinkling and setting off the black Lacquer Night Flower above.
The girls helped each other put on their hairpins, and then Ailu Kelu led the six of them to the upper area of the venue, on the top level of the building shaped like a Starship, the seventh floor with a transparent dome hall.
Here one could see the moon drifting across the sky, moonlight casting a faint silver glow in the night sky.
"You all must be hungry by now, clang clang~ A feast prepared by the great precursor Ailu Kelu is now served." After speaking, she clapped her hands, and a light was switched on, illuminating the only large round table in the dim hall, where various steaming dishes were placed, seemingly freshly served, with a great deal of seafood dishes, including steamed crabs, partially peeled lobsters, and roasted squid tentacles, all exuding redness.
"How about that~" Although in modern society there is no shortage of food, and people do not crave for it as much as in ancient times, no matter who it is, enjoying delicious food is still an indulgence that never grows old.
Sitting down with everyone, Ailu Kelu also served a bubbling low-alcohol beverage.
"These are the 'Sparkling Wine' sponsored by senior Glide. Although she graduated many years ago, she left us three with a significant stockpile of wine that I barely drink on a regular basis."
"Now that you're here, help share the burden and experience the style and characteristics of senior Glide from those days, hehehe~"
Although Ailu Kelu kept teasing the senior, the attending songstresses could feel that Ailu Kelu didn't dislike Glide, but rather had some feelings of nostalgia.
Many people and things are just like this. What seems mundane bickering and quarreling back in the day, when recalled after many years, becomes something nostalgic and hard to part with. Perhaps it's not the scene itself that's being missed, but rather that carefree self who could laugh and play to their heart's content, that age without setbacks, with infinite possibilities ahead.
"So where is 'Sparkling Wine' senior Glide now?" During the meal, Blanchi couldn't help but ask out of curiosity.
"Currently, senior Glide might be singing in some unknown bar."
Ailu Kelu raised her glass high, squinted one eye, and gazed at the clear, rippling drink and bubbles in the light.
"As a songstress, she no longer cares about that path, now she is 'Grand Waste' senior Glide."
