Miho the Killer-Chapter 98: Lovers At Home
I woke up to the gentle sound of Miho’s humming. The small bed I’ve gotten used to by now pulled me in deeper, but once I heard a rattling sound of plates coming from the kitchen I giggle-grunted and slid out from the comfort of the cotton blanket.
That clumsy girl might break another one if I don’t stop her now - I thought to myself. She broke three plates already in past two months.
As I entered the kitchen, my kitten was placing the plate of toast on the small wooden table we bought second hand as soon as we moved into this little sea-side hideaway.
"Right on time," Miho smiled as I hugged her and kissed her cheek.
"Just to make sure that nothing’s broken." My teasing was only met with a sheepish giggle.
We sat at the table facing each other. A simple and modest breakfast. A fried egg for me, fully cooked, and four for Miho, sunny side up.
"You are getting better at this." I praised the happy girl.
"One day, I’ll make better ramen than you," she said, nose in the air, like it was a challenge.
We both knew that just won’t happen, but I adored her ambition.
"The weather’s really good today." Miho remarked, turning and pointing at the small kitchen window behind her as if I didn’t know where to look.
"Mm hm." I nodded, biting the perfectly toasted bread.
"We should go for a picnic." From the excitement in her voice, I knew she was looking forward to this as soon as she woke up and saw the pristine blue sky outside. A good weather always lifted her mood. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"Yeah, sure."
I thought - I knew - the little kitten, who was fast growing into a still clumsy but charming cat, must have deliberately made the rattle earlier to wake me up.
She gave me a thumbs up and we continued eating. The butter we bought from a discount shelf yesterday was better than any luxury brand one I used to buy for myself in my meaningless existence before this angel barged into my life.
Simple things in life brought such a joy.
It’s been about two months since we moved into this place. It was an old and aching little house, but it was built with bricks - albeit with some chips - and was close to the beach. The first week was very hectic as we scrambled to get all our shopping done and set up the house, but it was also probably the best week of my life. Although we lived together at my old apartment when we first met, planning and filling up our new home together, picking every single item with arguments and agreement was a joyous experience that I hadn’t felt before.
And I had a little secret I haven’t told Miho yet.
In the second drawer next to our bed hid a small package with a white dress that I secretly ordered a few days ago, which I have been dying to see Miho try on.
After the breakfast, I did the dish washing and Miho vacuumed the house. She has been growing increasingly useful around the house lately, even cooking breakfast for me like today.
Once all the chores were done Miho went to the wardrobe and took out her usual worn-out jeans and an over-sized shirt. I grinned secretly in anticipation.
"Miho, I have a surprise for you."
"Eh?" She turned.
I said nothing more and picked out the little box from the drawer.
"This is for you."
"Aw, thanks! But, er, what is it?"
Miho received my gift gratefully, but a little confused as to why she was suddenly receiving a treat. We have been living a modest life and tried to avoid any unnecessary expenses, but well, for me, this was necessary.
"Open it up and see."
With a little suspicious but happy look on her face, she opened the box, took out the dress, held it in the air to see its full-length, and tilted her head.
"Erm, I think you gave me a wrong box."
"No, it’s for you."
Miho went quiet for a full five seconds, then blushed.
"Me?! I can’t wear this!"
"Please, you will look so sweet."
"Oh, no, no, no. I’m NOT wearing a dress. This is just beyond my ability."
What she didn’t know was that I had another surprise in the drawer, literally.
I took out another box, opened it, and showed her the dress I got for myself.
"And this is for me."
"Wow, you’d look so good in it!"
"It’s the same dress as yours."
Then it hit her - her scheming lover has prepared a matching pair of dress for a couple-look.
"Oh my god, I can’t do this. This is so embarrassing."
"Would you rather wear the dress all by yourself then?"
"That’s not the point!"
"Shh, it will be fine."
I put my dress on the bed and approached the frightened kitten to calm her down. Although she initially tried to push me away, her resistance dropped quickly as I caressed her bare neck and ran my fingers through her hair. It always calmed her down.
"You will be fine, Miho."
With that, I undressed the shy girl, who was for some reason covering her chest - it was cute that she was still like this after all this time we’ve spent together and love we’ve made.
"Raise your arms."
She dully obliged and the dress slid down easily, and in front of me stood the most beautiful girl that I ever saw. My heart melted immediately and I landed a full kiss on her lips, and it took all my discipline to stop myself from leading her to bed there and then - instead, I held her hand and guided the reluctant girl to the full-size mirror on the wall.
"What do you think?"
Miho was avoiding the mirror, keeping her head turned away, but after a little poke and tickle on her side she gave up and faced herself.
"Oh, no!"
She turned completely red - up to her ear - and she covered her face with both hands.
"You are beautiful, Miho. You look amazing."
Just a simple dress. A plain white cotton dress that was perfect for the day like today.
Letting her process the unexpected transformation for a minute, I got changed into my own dress, came back to her side and gently pulled her hands away from her face.
"Look at us!" I was thrilled.
Miho in the mirror was shocked. Her eyes widened and lips parted as if in slow-motion. Then immediately, she broke into a bright grin.
"Oh, wow."
She blushed and squirmed, but in the mirror, we were perfect. A pair too good for this world. A match made in heaven. Star-crossed lovers.
"It’s going to be a great day, Miho." I whispered into her ear as I embraced her again.
"Everyday is a great day with you, Sohee."
Our reflection in the mirror smiled at us, its frame completing a perfect picture.
