He asked, "Does Panlong Pavilion or any of the world’s major assassin organizations have a file on An Dongye?"

Gong Jin replied, "No. It’s like she appeared out of thin air. I can find her records from Yunluo City Medical University, but absolutely nothing else."

Ye Xiu squinted. It seemed he had underestimated An Dongye; this girl was mysterious on a whole new level.

Wait a minute! A thought suddenly flashed through his mind. Could An Dongye be that sniper? The idea had no evidence to back it up, but he recalled the barbecue restaurant. She had run off with an excuse right after asking where Sang Jing’s medical inspection team was staying. Then, that very afternoon, the mysterious sniper appeared. It’s too much of a coincidence!

"Arrange for a Great Grandmaster skilled in tracking to monitor An Dongye secretly. Don’t alert the target."

"Understood!" Gong Jin replied.

After hanging up, Ye Xiu continued to stroll down the street, his mind trying to figure out the mysterious sniper’s identity. In truth, the mysterious sniper had done Ye Xiu a huge favor. By releasing the list of all the masterminds from Jin Ye City who framed him ten years ago and transferring away their money, Ye Xiu’s goal was to send a signal that he was about to make his move. This was meant to strike fear into them. The mysterious sniper’s subsequent killing of six Ninja Warriors terrified them even further and conveniently dragged Kuroki Suzu and her Ninja Warriors into the mess. The only problem was that Ye Xiu couldn’t be sure if the sniper was a friend or an enemy.

After Ye Xiu and Qin Qing returned home and finished dinner, he was practicing his swordplay in the courtyard when Gong Jin called again.

Ye Xiu was stunned. "She’s merely an Eighth Grade Grandmaster. How could a Great Grandmaster lose her? Who did you send?"

"Ghost Shadow," replied Gong Jin.

"What?" Ye Xiu exclaimed. "Ghost Shadow may be a Great Grandmaster, but his speed surpasses even a War God’s, and he’s an expert tracker. An Dongye actually managed to shake him?"

"Ghost Shadow is frustrated, too. He said she gave him the slip with ease."

"You and Ghost Shadow stand down for now. Since she knows where I live, she’ll come here eventually."

"Understood!"

Ye Xiu squinted and smiled. This An Dongye is quite interesting.

He turned to Qin Qing, who was still practicing her sword forms. "That’s enough for tonight. Let’s go back inside."

"Alright!" Qin Qing stopped immediately.

Although she hadn’t overheard the call, she could tell from Ye Xiu’s words that an assassin was coming tonight. She couldn’t be of much help, so her only option was to return to her room. However, moments like these only fueled her craving for Power. She longed to fight side-by-side with Ye Xiu, but she was still far too weak.

Ye Xiu summoned Chloe. "Order everyone back to their rooms. No one is to come out until dawn."

Chloe and her group were strong, but they were still mortal flesh and blood. A bullet could still kill them.

"As you command!" Chloe immediately left to relay the order.

Ye Xiu returned to the living room, sat on the sofa, and turned on the TV, waiting for An Dongye to arrive. He waited the entire night, but she never showed up.

At dawn, Chloe ran in to report.

"Our people found three bodies: one in the mountains, another near the entrance to Tu Mountain Manor, and a third next to the island where Zhu Xiaowen lives. All of them were killed by a single headshot from a sniper rifle."

"Who were they?" Ye Xiu asked.

"All of them were well-known assassins in the underworld," Chloe said. "They were likely after the 200 million gold bounty."

Ye Xiu chuckled. "So she was protecting me."

Chloe was taken aback. "What do you mean?"

"It’s confirmed. An Dongye is the mysterious sniper. She wasn’t targeting me; she was targeting the assassins who took the 200 million gold bounty," Ye Xiu explained.

"Why would she help you?" Chloe asked.

"I’d like to know that myself."

Ye Xiu’s interest in An Dongye grew even stronger.

After breakfast, Ye Xiu dropped Qin Qing off at the Zhulu Group and then drove to Shenghe Medical College. Today was the official first day of the academic year.

The first thing the new students had to face was training.

The sight of the 1.8-meter-tall An Dongye standing there, fast asleep on her feet, caught everyone’s attention. Her snores were as loud as thunder.

The students couldn’t help but burst out laughing. This commotion attracted the attention of the two adjacent classes. When they saw An Dongye standing there snoring, they started laughing too.

Murong walked over to An Dongye. "Dismissed."

Deep in sleep, An Dongye’s eyes snapped open. She stretched and yawned. "This damn training is finally over! Time to eat!"

With that, she took off running.

Murong, the instructor, and the students stared after her retreating figure, completely bewildered.

"An Dongye, get back here!" Murong shouted once he came to his senses.

An Dongye acted as if she hadn’t heard a thing and vanished in a flash.

"With that speed, she’d definitely win a gold medal in a race," Murong said with an exasperated laugh.

The instructor looked thoughtful. "Never mind her. Let’s continue..."

An Dongye was exhausted, but the thought of what she was about to do energized her. She ran back to her dorm, changed her clothes, pulled a backpack out of her suitcase, and dashed out of Shenghe Medical College. At the school gate, she hailed a taxi and headed straight for her destination.

Just then, Ye Xiu pulled up to the gates of Shenghe Medical College and happened to see An Dongye getting into the cab.

Where is this girl going so early in the morning?

Puzzled, Ye Xiu started his car and followed the taxi.
