Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Aria POV

The next morning came quicker than expected, and I was all set for school when I heard a knock on my door, almost making me jump up in fright. I opened the door slowly to see Jaxon standing there with my bag in his hands.

"How did you get that?" I yelled at him as he laughed.

"I already took it last night while you were taking a shower. I don’t want you to leave me behind and run away. I know you are trying to escape from me, and it makes no sense because you’re actually supposed to be closer to me," he said as I slammed the door.

Immediately, a knock came again, and I knew he was the one trying to make me frustrated. I opened it again and had a frown on my face.

"Leave me alone. I don’t want your gifts, and I don’t want to be close to you. You can hold my bag for as long as you want. If I get to school, I would find a way. After all, it’s not like my books are inside that bag," I said to him as he pushed the door until he had his way. He then walked in and sat down, crossing his legs as he watched me stand there in front of the door, speechless.

"You don’t have any authority at all to just walk into my room. I am a lady, and you’re supposed to know your limit. Don’t ever do this again. Do you understand?" I said to him as he nodded, standing up.

"I understand, and I would not do this again, but please can we go to school? I am already getting late and want no delay. Dad wants me to protect you. The only way I can protect you is by letting you be in front of me where I can watch you," he said as I shrugged, picked up my jacket, and stormed out, leaving him there.

As I heard my door also being slammed, I knew he was clearly behind me. I walked down and saw that the car was already set and waiting for us. Before I could open the door, Jaxon opened it widely. Just as I was about to enter, I saw my mom from upstairs at the balcony, and she smiled at me, clearly a signal that I should not get angry. But I did not say anything as I sat down and Jaxon entered beside me.

Just then, rain drove up and soon got to school. I came out quickly, not wanting him to follow me, and of course, I had my bag with me since I did not want him to use it as an excuse to be around me. I just wanted to have a peaceful and quiet college day, and he had no right to make it miserable for me.

As I walked in, the class was not yet occupied, and there were just a few students in the class as I took my seat, opened my bag, and brought out everything that had to do with our first session. Of course, Jaxon walked in majestically, hands in his pockets, and of course, his assistant by his side. He then looked at me and looked away.

Suddenly, I felt my heart being bumped heavily. Disappointed. Yes, I wanted him to stay away from me, but I didn’t know what to call this. I was far more disappointed seeing him push himself far away from me like this. I just decided to wave it off and continued going through the book I had on my table when I noticed a girl slowly coming towards me.

She knocked gently on my table, and I looked up at her.

"Can I help you?" I muttered as she nodded.

"Yes. I know that you are like one of our most quiet students who don’t want to be close to anybody. I’m new here, and I think you are just the perfect person I can make my friend," she said, and without even waiting for my response, she put out her hand for a handshake.

"My name is Mary," she said as I became speechless. No one had ever approached me to be their friend before. Everyone always avoided me and saw me as that weird girl who does not say a word to anybody. I looked at her hand for a while before accepting it as she giggled quietly.

"Thank you for accepting me," she said to me as I nodded and removed my hand awkwardly.

Before I knew what was happening, she had already joined me in my seat and placed her battalions of books on the desk.

"Please can you teach me? I am not that good with most of the subjects here and I’m very, very confused," she started talking loudly.

Yes, I know I was supposed to be pissed about it and not be happy, but I felt excited that someone wanted to be my friend, and she was actually a very jovial person. I looked at all her books and picked the first session we were going to have before opening it to the exact page.

"This is what we’re having today. He is not a very troublesome lecturer, so things will be very, very easy for us. Just stay low key," I said to her, hoping she would listen.

But before I could get a response from her, I heard loud laughter from ahead. I looked, and it was Jaxon talking to a girl as she was sitting on his desk right in front of him. Someone could think they were actually flirting. I looked away, not wanting it to get to my head, but they still continued to laugh, and I clenched my hands into a tight fist.

"I know, right? I don’t know why he always comes here to do that. I think he has a crush on someone in this class; I just can’t figure out who it is," she said as I looked at her a bit confused.

"How do you know that?" I stuttered as she smiled.

"It’s obvious. He always comes here with a girl that he doesn’t even like and doesn’t talk to outside of the class and pretends like he’s close to her, letting her gist with him, and then they joke all the time. It makes no sense. He likes somebody here and is trying to make her jealous, and I think now he wants to make it even much worse," she said as I almost choked on my own saliva.

"He likes me? Does it actually mean that he always liked me? It makes no sense, right? It can’t be possible."
