Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 136 - 137: I’m Doing It For Art
Su Nian said nonchalantly, "Oh, this’ll work. I’m driving now."
The hanged ghost was miserable, but it didn’t dare say a word.
In truth, it wasn’t the only ghost in this Ghost Forest, and it wasn’t a weak one, either. Yet, at this moment, it could only do as Su Nian said.
Its dignity as a ghost was utterly shattered today.
The hanged ghost seethed with hatred, its eyes turning bloodshot.
It would have its revenge. It would resist. It would rise up against this exploitation!
Then, an intersection appeared up ahead.
"Sweetie, please drive toward that rock on the right, okay? That’s the real road; it’s just been blocked by ghost energy!"
The hanged ghost’s tone was sycophantic as it gave a seemingly natural reminder.
’Forget it. I can always reclaim my dignity as a ghost later.’
Once the car finally made it out of the Ghost Forest, Su Nian casually got out.
She had arrived on the ghost film crew’s turf.
"Sweetie, this is as far as I can take you! The ghosts up ahead are just too strong, I’m too scared to go any farther!"
For the first time, a ghost had made Su Nian feel uncomfortable.
’This thing isn’t just an idiot in love, its fake cutesy voice is making my skin crawl.’
"Alright, alright! Just go!"
Su Nian didn’t give the ghost a hard time. Everything came down to karma, after all. Besides, the ghost’s aura seemed fundamentally pure. It held resentment, but it hadn’t taken any human lives. It likely sustained itself by scaring people and feeding on their fear.
[What is she dawdling for! Hurry up and save Lina! Is this woman a total idiot?!]
[Right?! If she’s so powerful, she should be saving people! What the hell is this dumbass doing?!]
[To the people above, I’m warning you. Watch your mouths.]
Su Nian happened to see that comment. She didn’t really care about the insult itself, but seeing her fans get viciously attacked for defending her pissed her off.
"From now on, anyone in this stream with a filthy mouth... well, a female ghost will be paying a visit to their house tonight."
"Mods, keep a record for me. Anyone who says something nasty, please take a screenshot. We wouldn’t want the female ghost to get lonely because she can’t find anyone, now would we?"
Su Nian had a smile on her face, but her tone carried an undeniable menace. Her eyes crinkled as her lips stretched into a perfect, chilling smile.
The bullet comments fell silent. Faced with a woman who could beat up ghosts with her bare hands and was a little unnerving herself, no one dared to say another word.
In this country, matters of the occult were still taken very seriously.
Without waiting to see the chat’s reaction, Su Nian stepped out of the car. Head held high, she started down a dirt path that cut through the landscape.
She hadn’t gone far when she stopped. A black miasma swirled up ahead, so thick that even the viewers could see it without Su Nian’s special sight.
Gnarled old trees with twisted branches lined the path. Upon seeing Su Nian arrive, their trunks seemed to tremble.
The scene was dead silent. All contact with Lina had been lost for some time. Such an unnerving quietness easily led to one terrifying thought: could everyone already be dead?
As Su Nian walked deeper, she saw people slumped dejectedly against tree trunks, while others had collapsed at the roots, lying listlessly on the ground.
All of them hung their heads limply, as if drained of all life.
[What’s wrong with these people? Don’t tell me they’re all... gone?]
[This is kind of scary. I’m so scared!]
[I agree, something’s not right. It’s too quiet, and we lost contact with Lina. Don’t tell me everyone...]
But Su Nian paid them no mind, striding forward. As the hanged ghost would say, Su Nian looked more menacing than an Evil Ghost.
As Su Nian ventured deeper, a voice finally broke the silence.
"Retake! Retake!"
"What is wrong with you people! How can you actors be so unprofessional?! How can you be so unprofessional?!"
"Unprofessional actors deserve to die! They deserve to die!"
Su Nian rolled her eyes at the words. She hadn’t arrived on the scene yet, but her voice cut through the air.
"You’re already dead, so why are you still putting on this show? Did you climb out of your grave just to cosplay as a director?"
The short, fat director, who had been in the middle of his tirade, was stunned for a moment. An instant later, his shock turned into uncontrollable rage.
His deathly pale face whipped around, his expression so vicious he looked like he wanted to eat someone alive.
His eyes, which were nothing but whites, widened in fury.
"I am the director! What kind of Z-list nobody are you, daring to speak to me like that?!"
But the director saw that his words didn’t stop Su Nian. Instead, she just kept getting closer.
The short, fat director was seething. He was already mentally picturing all the ways Su Nian could die.
But he never expected that the moment she was in front of him, Su Nian would just haul off and slap him.
Su Nian was already incredibly strong, not to mention she was a top-tier cultivator. Dealing with a ghost like this was no challenge for her at all; it was child’s play.
Her patience worn thin, she naturally didn’t hold back. The slap landed with nearly her full strength.
Even though it was a ghost, the blow was almost enough to make it experience death a second time. If it had been a human, they’d be a ghost by now.
The force of Su Nian’s slap left the short, fat director completely stunned and unable to move.
Immediately after, Su Nian grabbed him by the collar. The ghost could feel the fabric constricting its neck, the suffocating sensation of being choked.
But Su Nian was far more brutal than it could have ever imagined.
Even as a ghost, it grimaced in pain. It was beginning to understand that it had messed with the wrong person.
The short, fat director tried to plead with Su Nian.
"I’m just trying to complete my masterpiece! I want to be world-famous!"
Su Nian rolled her eyes and slapped him again.
"Cut the crap. It looks like you’re really getting into your role-playing, so much so that you’re still completely lost in it!"
Looking at the dazed and beaten ghost before her, Su Nian’s anger didn’t subside one bit.
Su Nian could read a ghost’s true nature from its face. Even though this one was hiding inside the director’s body...
...Su Nian could still see its unbearably ugly true face.
"When you were alive, you used ’art’ as an excuse to sell off your own children, and even your wife, didn’t you?"
"And you’re still spouting nonsense about ’art’ even after you’re dead. You really think I can’t see your rotten intentions? All you want is to be famous, to live a life of ease, but you’re completely useless."
"Tricking people into thinking you’re creating something... Creating my ass! You’re just a lazy freeloader, and you have the gall to call that art?!"
"Art, my ass! You deprived your own children, leeched off your wife, and bled your whole family dry! Then you got lucky, died, and were buried in this Ghost Forest, turning you into a ghost. And now that you’ve run into some directors and actors, you’re crawling out of the woodwork again!"
Su Nian had seen through this Evil Ghost’s true nature the moment she laid eyes on it.
In life, he sold his children, sold his wife, and leeched off his parents, single-handedly ruining his entire family. And now that he was dead, he wanted to crawl back out to preen and pursue his ’path of art’.
He could forget about that. Su Nian was ruthless, landing a flurry of punches and kicks on the Evil Ghost.
The Evil Ghost was stunned. ’A human can actually beat me up?’
After so many years of lording over others, this was the first painful lesson it had ever learned. It was starting to get scared.
’On second thought, what’s the rush to create art?’
"I was wrong! I was wrong! I won’t pursue art anymore!"
The Evil Ghost wailed, tears streaming down its face. It was excruciatingly painful.
