Chapter 2825: 2825. Just Seeing Potentials

Walker let out a large sigh after he had gotten a little distance from the great tundra wolf pack. He felt that the pack had not given him an inch to maneuver. If he had set a single toe out of line he would have needed to fight every single one of them then and there.

Even worse, he even felt that if he tried to use ice magic at all, that the fenrir wolf would have had a better use of the ice than he would have had. Just proving more than anything that he was not a master of a single form of mana or magic. He was able to use it all and mix it for better results, but one type?

No, he would find himself lacking compared to a monster stepping on the final stretch of a path that would make it a recognized race. Let alone one that had awakened a bloodline from an ancient monster known for having the best of the best in terms of ice manipulation and basic brutal fighting styles.

This also put in to perspective just how hard it would have been for him to face ancient monsters as he was now. All his strength and growth toward being what he needed to be was still far away.

Then again, would he feel that way forever?

It seemed like there was an endless outer space beyond the elemental planes. Space where there was not even space mana but also could be every mana. In chaos and balance. Whether more places like the elemental planes or the world exposed, he wouldn’t know. He just knew that there had to be more out there.

It felt right.

Besides these thoughts, Walker’s mind also dwelt on the fact that he had just encountered a place no one else would even be able to travel to soon. The home of the great tundra wolves was much further away from where they had been than what he had expected. Especially with the terrain changing from forest to an icy forest and eventually in to tundra. This wasn’t considering the body of an ancient wyrm and the tree like attack that was converting mana in to frosty icy mana.

Therefore, Walker was left with just the knowledge that the potential growth of the great tundra wolves toward being an intelligent race with the fenrir bloodline awakened and potentially changing them further was a high probability. Maybe more than he realized.

The breaking of the set items resonated through him too. He had felt that it was some sort of shift in space. The loss of a mystically forged set of items that made a temporary haven for the fairy dragons, monsters within, and the herbs. Yet, Walker also felt that something else had happened.

He had sensed the remnants and pieces of that space meld in to his multidimensional storage space. A new little space had been created housing some living herbs, seeds, and small eggs of the monsters within that space before it broke down. He could sense the balanced mana and how he was unable to influence it without more knowledge. He even found himself feeling inadequate all over again.

The ancient mage who had created such an item set was clearly not matched by today’s standards. In both skill and knowledge. This was inspiring and also worrisome.

"What if the world becomes more dangerous?" Walker was talking to himself and knew that answers were all in the future. But it was something he wanted to consider.

What if the ancient monsters became the same as today? There were bloodlines left in many monsters and races. Scylla was one of them. She had become a powerful general for the demi-human kingdom and stepped even further up in strength as she had met the party. She had made great leaps while fighting for the strength and growth of her people and those she met along the way.

Where Scylla really grew was as she found the leviathans born at the same time as herself which were more than just part of her. They were linked since they all carried remnants of the ancient monster Scylla.

That awakening put her well beyond the place she was before in power and strength. It even went beyond that once she had started training after the world had regained connections to the elemental planes.

To Walker, this meant that those with such potent bloodlines might be able to awaken powers equalling or nearing the strength that some of the ancient monsters once possessed. That wasn’t even telling what might happen as the mana and strength came together with knowledge of today and tomorrow. There might be ways to create or recreate the very ancient monsters that were technically extinct now. It was all potential he could see in his mind’s eye.

"Hey! Pay attention to us or we will knock you out of the sky!" A small branch was thrown from the ground at him making Walker dodge and land nearby where everyone seemed to have been waiting for him to return.

It appeared that everyone had some unique experiences and were actually carrying herbs, some small monster bodies, or even in gil’s case, had a small snare with what seemed to be a different species of horned rabbit.

"Earth horn rabbit

This monster is purely earth affinity and uses strong stones to carve out a horn that it condenses earth mana in to. This is why they are considered valuable since that earth mana will cause the horn to be turned in to very tough stone and even gems depending on the location the stone is taken from by the earth horn rabbit...’

The rabbit had a tougher looking gray stone and not a gem, but it was unique since it was different from the horned rabbits where they were from. Those had poison in their horns and would be very troublesome in larger packs when they bred and ran about toward farms looking for food.

"I was lost in thought. I met some powerful wolves that have been around since ancient times living near a naturally formed ice rune. They even have the fenrir bloodline within them that is pushing them to get closer and closer to an intelligent monster able to be recognized as a race in the world. We might see it in a couple of years. For now, their territory is banned for any traveler because I gave my word I would help protect them."

"We found a crystal forest. It was all about changing earth with light mana." Midnight nodded her head to Alice’s words while the others all started talking at the same time too.

It seemed that they had all seen some amazing things and realized that the untouched aspect of this continent was why the runes formed naturally here were so much more unique. That and the fact that they had seen remnants of ancient battles and ancient monsters while they moved. Proof that these lands were once chaotic and dangerous but still held some of that to prove that it was still a land of untouched freedom without a collar to leash it.

"I think we are protecting this place as a land without a city. Maybe a small town, but no building or mining to the point where a permanent city is built for people to live. I will find guards who can be trusted if necessary. We can also install an adventurous guild to enforce that law. People who come here can teleport to and from instead of staying here all the time."

Hearing Su take such a strict stance proved beyond a doubt that the idea to keep this as a wilderness area was the best choice to make. She would rarely try and speak out so strongly unless she had been entirely convinced.

"What did you see that made you so dedicated?" Remey was sure that Su was nit this sure before they had traveled a bit around here.

"There was an interesting hatching process. The little wind fairy dragon flew off but was able to call the wind elemental spirits around it. This is their home and it is working with the elemental spirits to make sure that this land will be safe and growing too. This needs to be wilderness." No one argued with her. They had sensed the same things.

The fairy dragons were a group that could interact with the flow of the world’s mana and allowing them safety was just what the world needed. They could make sure this was still wilderness many years beyond what the party would be able to handle. Not that the party planned on leaving the world any time soon, but they never knew where they would go in life.

"What about the reward from your quest?" Remey pushed Walker about his rewards too.
