Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 84: Ethan Sterling Is Definitely Secretly in Love With You!
Dragging the suitcase, Seraphina hailed a cab back to The Thorne Estate and bought several days’ worth of groceries at a nearby supermarket.
After tidying up the luggage and food, she ate a simple dinner and immediately headed into the music room for serious practice.
The melodious violin flew out the window, resonating in the early winter night.
Not far outside the window, on the driveway, Ethan Sterling leaned back against his seat, his left arm still in a sling.
Smoking a cigarette while listening to the music drifting from the villa.
He enjoyed it, half-closing his eyes, his right fingers rhythmically tapping on the steering wheel.
Compared to a few years ago, her skills had grown increasingly adept, with a musical allure that truly touched the soul.
With Seraphina’s talent, she was bound to succeed.
In the early hours, Seraphina ended her practice, exhausted.
"Mrs. Sterling, hang in there, your husband believes in you."
As the sound of the violin faded and the lights in her bedroom dimmed, Ethan Sterling started the car and drove out of the villa neighborhood.
Apart from visiting her father in the hospital, Seraphina spent nearly all her time in the music room practicing.
Soon, it was Friday—the day of the domestic regional competition.
Her good friend Ivy Langley had also heard the news.
On Friday afternoon, she drove specifically to The Paramount Gardens to pick up Seraphina.
"This house is really just like before," Ivy Langley entered the Thorne Villa carrying a paper bag, her face full of surprise as she looked around, "By the way, Seraphina, you’re impressive, getting the house back so quickly?"
"It wasn’t me." Seraphina poured her a cup of hot tea. "Ethan Sterling bought it."
"Cough!" Ivy Langley nearly choked, setting down her cup, she wiped her lip corners with her hand, "What did you say? Ethan Sterling bought this house for you?"
Seraphina handed her a tissue, responding softly.
"On my birthday, he gave me the keys."
"Oh my gosh, that’s so romantic!" Ivy Langley walked over with a mischievous grin, placing the brought dinner on the table, "What did I say before, Ethan Sterling must be secretly in love with you!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Seraphina smirked self-deprecatingly, "How is that possible?"
"Why can’t it be? Just think..." Ivy Langley held her arm, "He bought Zenith to establish a foothold in Jadeston,
and why did he buy this house... aside from pleasing you, what other reason could there be?"
"This area is really good, the auction house is cheap, there’s significant potential for appreciation later, okay?"
Ivy Langley furrowed her brows, thinking it over.
"Even if that’s so, then why give you the keys and keep these old furnishings for you, wouldn’t it be better to sell the house right away to make money?"
With one sentence, Seraphina was also questioned.
"Favors done without reason always have ulterior motives!" Ivy Langley winked at her, "Familiarity breeds affection, you know?"
"We’ve only known each other a few days?"
"I’m not talking about that kind of ’time’, okay?"
Seraphina paused, realizing what she meant, she reached for a grape and tossed it.
"You cheeky girl!"
"I call it telling it like it is." Ivy Langley assumed a serious expression, "Based on my experience as a top attorney, with years of reading romance novels... this guy definitely likes you!"
Seraphina lowered her eyelashes to hide her gaze, smiled silently.
If Ethan Sterling really liked her, how could he still be entangled with Chloe Foster?
And how is it possible that after she moved out of The Paramount Gardens for four or five days, he hadn’t come to find her?
Her clothes were packed so neatly, with Ethan Sterling’s intelligence, he surely noticed what she was doing.
Tonight is the official competition, Seraphina doesn’t want to overthink these things and affect her performance.
"Alright, let’s eat quickly, I still have the competition later! What’s more important than money?"
"Yes, yes, yes, the competition is key, earning money is number one." Ivy Langley handed her the hot chocolate she’d specially bought, placing it in her hand, "Here, let’s toast with chocolate, wishing our Maestro Thorne victory, a stunning performance like years ago, cheers!"
Seraphina lightly clinked her cup with hers.
"Cheers!"
If she won the championship tonight, she’d no longer have to worry about her father’s medical expenses, her brother’s legal fees.
By then, she could rent a small place to live.
Men?
Love!
It’s just the luxury embellishments of life.
Without them, she can still live very well.
The two good friends happily finished dinner, Seraphina took her prepared competition dress, Ivy Langley helped her with the violin, and they drove together to the competition site.
Ivy Langley parked the car in the parking lot, and the two headed to the backstage entrance.
On the steps, a car happened to drive up, heading straight toward Seraphina and Ivy Langley.
Seraphina grabbed Ivy Langley’s arm, retreating to the roadside.
The car screeched to a stop less than a meter from the two.
"How are you driving?" Ivy Langley glared angrily, "Didn’t you see with your eyes?"
The car door opened, and Julia Chamberlain and her mother stepped out from either side.
Mrs. Chamberlain glanced at the two, snorted coldly, "This is a roadway, not a sidewalk, if you get hit it’s your own fault!"
These despicable people still dare to show off in front of her?
"This damn place is called a private parking lot, vehicles are limited to 5 km/h, if someone gets hit here, it’s entirely the driver’s fault."
Ivy Langley took a step forward, blocking Seraphina.
"Let me tell you, you’re lucky you didn’t bump Seraphina, if you did, I’d sue you out of house and home."
Mrs. Chamberlain wanted to say more, but Julia Chamberlain gently tugged her arm.
"Never mind, Mom, why bother arguing with them, the competition matters more."
"Yes, yes, yes, we couldn’t care less about you." Mrs. Chamberlain snorted coldly, "Just watch how my daughter beats you later."
"With her?" Ivy Langley laughed aloud, "Even if she practiced for a hundred years, she’d still be nothing in front of our Seraphina!"
Ivy Langley raised her right foot and kicked firmly on the Chamberlain’s car before pulling Seraphina up the steps.
Julia Chamberlain pursed her lips, "What’s there to be proud of."
"Dear daughter, you just trust us!" Mrs. Chamberlain held her daughter’s shoulder, smiling sinisterly, "Mom has arranged everything for you, she can’t win!"
Julia Chamberlain heard something implicit, turning her face in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Mrs. Chamberlain leaned close to her ear, whispering a few words.
Julia Chamberlain froze upon hearing, "This... won’t be discovered, right?"
"Relax, this little issue, Mom can handle it." Mrs. Chamberlain patted her shoulder confidently, "Tonight, the national championship is definitely yours!"
