Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 49: Can She Handle It?
He took out his phone and snapped a few photos of Adrian Chamberlain.
Sean Hale walked over, lifted his right foot, and viciously kicked Adrian Chamberlain in the back.
"Get the hell out, are you waiting to die?"
At this moment, even if Ethan Sterling had hit Adrian Chamberlain, it wouldn’t matter.
If he really wanted his life, that would be a different story.
Having been by Ethan Sterling’s side for a few years, this was the first time Sean Hale saw Ethan Sterling lose his mind like this.
If that man went crazy again, Sean Hale was not confident that he could keep the situation under control.
For now, letting Adrian Chamberlain leave was the best option.
Adrian Chamberlain, who was dumbfounded from the beating, came back to his senses, got up from the floor, and stumbled out of the room.
Sean Hale let out a sigh of relief and walked to the entrance of the bathroom.
He didn’t go in or look inside.
"President Sterling, the room upstairs is ready. Why don’t you take your wife up there first? I’ll handle things here!"
"I understand."
Ethan Sterling carefully tightened the coat around Seraphina Thorne, covering even her face.
"Don’t be afraid, darling. I’ll take you somewhere safe!"
He coaxed gently, lifted Seraphina in his arms, and strode out of the room.
It was nighttime, and there weren’t many guests in the hotel.
Ethan Sterling carried Seraphina all the way upstairs, luckily not encountering anyone.
He carried her into the bedroom, cradling her on his lap like a child, patting her back.
Seraphina’s tense nerves gradually relaxed, and she couldn’t hold on anymore, passing out from the medication.
He gently laid her on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
Ethan Sterling stood beside the bed for quite a while, ensuring she was in a deep sleep and wouldn’t wake. Only then did he quietly leave the room.
In the living room, Sean Hale was already waiting for him.
On the sofa sat the female doctor he specially invited to examine and treat Seraphina.
Ethan Sterling led the female doctor to the bedroom door and gently pushed it open.
"She’s a bit tense, please be gentle to avoid alarming her."
The female doctor nodded, carrying her medical kit inside.
"I’ve taken photos for evidence in the room, and instructed the hotel manager to temporarily lock it. The musician sharing the room with your wife, the hotel will get her a new room citing ’room issues’." Sean Hale handed over his phone with the recorded video, "This is the hotel surveillance; Adrian Chamberlain didn’t knock, but used a room card to enter directly."
Ethan Sterling grabbed the phone for a look, "Who’s sharing the room with Seraphina?"
"The girl is Claire Clayton, also a violinist for the orchestra. Currently, she and Felicity Shaw are at the hotel bar."
Sean Hale opened another video on his phone.
"I briefly checked Adrian Chamberlain’s movements. He didn’t book a room at this hotel. This is the surveillance outside the bar; before the incident, he hadn’t interacted with Claire Clayton, but he did go to the bar entrance. At that time, Felicity Shaw handed him something. The angle is poor and unclear, but... I suspect she found a way to steal Claire Clayton’s room card."
Ethan Sterling kept a composed expression, saying nothing.
Based on Sean Hale’s findings, it’s not hard to deduce that Adrian Chamberlain and Felicity Shaw concocted this scheme together.
The door gently clicked open, and the female doctor emerged with her medical kit.
Both men turned, closing the door behind them, standing before her as she voluntarily reported the situation.
"Miss Thorne only has some scrapes and superficial injuries, nothing severe. There should be no major problems; if you’re concerned, you can get her checked at the hospital when it’s light."
"And..." Sean Hale cleared his throat, "Did she... experience any..."
He didn’t finish, but the female doctor surmised what he meant to ask.
She gently shook her head, "There were no signs of assault. Miss Thorne is still unscathed."
Sean Hale silently exhaled in relief.
Thankfully, there wasn’t.
Otherwise, knowing Ethan Sterling’s nature, this matter would escalate uncontrollably.
After seeing the female doctor out, Sean Hale returned to the living room.
Behind Ethan Sterling, who stood at the floor-to-ceiling window smoking, he gently cleared his throat.
"Do you think... we should call the police?"
"Of course!" Eth an Sterling, standing by the window, swung around, "Do you think I’d let them off?"
Sean Hale: "But..."
Stepping forward, Ethan Sterling grabbed Sean Hale by the collar.
"But what, you think because he didn’t succeed, I’d let it go?"
"I didn’t mean that." Sean Hale glanced at the bedroom door, lowered his voice, "If we report this, your wife will have to face police inquiries and during the trial, she would have to testify. The opposing lawyer might exploit their past relationship, even smearing her as the instigator..."
Sean Hale, having a legal background, knew well the tricks of prosecuting.
In cases like this, the lawyer would wrack their brains to exonerate Adrian Chamberlain.
He could even imagine the disdainful demeanor of the opposing counsel.
Ethan Sterling snorted, pushing him away.
"Then find the best lawyer; I must seek justice for Seraphina!"
"What about your wife?" Sean Hale lifted his face, meeting Ethan Sterling’s fiery gaze, "Can she handle it?"
Once this enters the legal process, Seraphina would have to repeat the incident over and over.
Each time, it would torment her.
Turning away, Ethan Sterling suddenly punched heavily against the wall.
The back of his hand, swollen from hitting Adrian Chamberlain, couldn’t endure such force.
Skin cracked, blood oozed.
"Or..." Sean Hale stepped forward, his voice turning icy, "should I take care of it?!"
Ethan Sterling closed his eyes, taking a deep drag on his cigarette.
Only after finishing the entire cigarette did he slowly turn around.
"Gather all the evidence, in the future... I’ll settle the score with him together!"
Adrian Chamberlain still held Zenith’s shares.
The evidence of the building’s collapse likely lay in Adrian Chamberlain’s hands as well.
Without sufficient evidence, if anything happened to Adrian Chamberlain, Caleb Thorne would bear the blame, spending his lifetime in prison.
That’s definitely not the outcome Seraphina would want.
Understanding his thoughts, Sean Hale nodded.
"I know what to do. You take good care of your wife, I’ll make the arrangements."
After Sean Hale left again, Ethan Sterling stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, quietly opening the bedroom door.
The bed was empty, with the covers thrown back, no sign of Seraphina.
Ethan Sterling’s mind buzzed with a dull echo.
That girl, could she not bear it...
His eyes swept across the closed window, lingering on the bathroom door, Ethan Sterling charged in, pushing it open.
"Seraphina!"
