Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 119: Do You Really Have to Divorce Me? (Part 1)
Seraphina lifted her gaze and stared at Ethan Sterling for a few seconds.
She took the violin from his hands and turned toward the boarding gate.
She boarded the return flight smoothly and found her seat.
Soon, the plane took off.
Seraphina’s gaze naturally fell on the violin resting on her knees.
Who on earth gave her this violin?
She unclasped the violin case, opened the lid, and carefully cradled the violin.
Yesterday was too rushed, she didn’t have a good look.
Now, the more she looked at it, the more familiar the violin seemed.
Her eyes inadvertently swept over the sound hole, noticing faint writing inside, and Seraphina’s heart stirred.
She adjusted the violin’s position under the reading light above her, ensuring she saw it clearly.
With the light’s help, she clearly saw two lines of cursive English lettering on the inside of the back plate—
"FOR X:
Happe birthday!"
Seeing these two lines, Seraphina couldn’t help but catch her breath.
This was what her mother specifically asked the violin maker to inscribe on the back plate when the violin was custom-made.
The violin in her hands was the one she had previously consigned to be sold—it was her own violin.
Seraphina held the violin, almost unable to believe her eyes.
The violin she sold had actually returned to her?
Her fingers gently caressed the violin’s body as she carefully placed it back into the case and held it close.
Feeling that there seemed to be something in the case’s compartment, she unzipped it and took out the small box inside.
It was a candy box, containing several of her favorite chocolate candies.
Staring at the candy in her hand, Seraphina was taken aback.
Could it be...
Ethan?!
But at the time, they had just gotten married; he shouldn’t have known about her selling the violin.
If it wasn’t him, then who could it be?
Seraphina sat holding the violin, lost in thought.
Even when the plane landed safely at Jadeston Airport, Seraphina hadn’t figured out the answer. She could only disembark with her confusion.
"Seraphina!"
Seeing her pulling a suitcase, Ivy Langley immediately rushed over with a smile from the exit.
Handing her flowers, she hugged her tightly, "Welcome back, our world champion!"
Seraphina looked surprised, "Why are you here?"
"Of course, to surprise you!" Ivy winked at her, "Ethan gave me your flight number. He said he was stuck abroad and couldn’t come back in time, worried you might struggle with your luggage, so he asked me to pick you up."
Ivy took her suitcase, wrapped an arm around Seraphina, and headed to the parking lot, still sighing with emotion.
"I must say, your Ethan is quite the model husband. I’ve decided to take back all the bad things I’ve ever said about him."
After placing Seraphina’s suitcase in the trunk, Ivy smiled as she sat in the driver’s seat.
"So, what do you feel like eating? Today... it’s Great Counselor Langley’s treat!"
"Anything’s fine."
"What’s wrong?" Ivy turned her head, glancing at her expression, "You should be happy after winning an award. Don’t tell me it’s because Ethan wasn’t there with you? It can’t be, right? Sometimes work gets in the way like that."
Seraphina smiled but said nothing.
"If you’re upset, when he gets back, punish him by keeping him off the bed for a week." Ivy mischievously started the car, "How about we get some barbecue?"
Seraphina didn’t want to dampen her excitement, "Sure."
The two friends returned to the city and went to their regular barbecue joint.
Ivy ordered the food but refrained from ordering alcohol since she had to drive.
They clinked glasses using soda as a substitute for alcohol.
Thinking about the violin, something stirred in Seraphina’s heart.
"Ivy, did you know I sold the violin?"
"Sold the violin?" Ivy stopped her chopsticks mid-air, looking up in shock, "You sold the violin? Why... If you needed money, you should have told me. Why sell the violin? That was a gift from your mother!"
Hearing her response, Seraphina knew Ivy hadn’t bought the violin.
Realizing it wasn’t her friend, Seraphina didn’t elaborate, masking her thoughts with a laugh.
"I was just saying, I’ve just secured funding and am not short of money now."
"You scared me to death." Ivy glared at her, "I’m serious, though. If you ever need money, come to me. I’ve just taken on two big divorce cases, and if I win, the commission will be two or three hundred thousand. If you ever need money, tell me."
"Alright, my little rich lady!"
Seraphina agreed with a smile, but when Ivy mentioned divorce, she lightly coughed.
"If a couple is divorcing, but one party doesn’t agree, what happens?"
"Then you take it to court and let the judge decide," Ivy said.
"Wouldn’t that be troublesome?"
"Not necessarily. Take my last client as an example. Her husband cheated but refused to divorce. We took him to court, and as soon as the court session started, he had all his company’s money frozen. He immediately panicked and obediently signed the divorce agreement!"
Ivy looked up at her at this point.
"Why did you ask that? You’re not planning to divorce Ethan, are you?"
"I was just asking." Seraphina replied.
Ivy smirked, "If you really plan to divorce Ethan, you must come to me. Ethan is a mega-rich guy, and we can’t let that attorney fee fall to outsiders."
Seraphina lowered her eyes without speaking.
Ivy was initially kidding, but seeing Seraphina’s strange expression, she put down her chopsticks and clasped Seraphina’s hand.
"Is there tension between you and Ethan?"
Given Ivy’s personality, if she found out about Ethan’s infidelity, she would certainly go to confront him.
Seraphina’s relationship with Ethan was different from other couples; she didn’t want to make a scene.
Concealing her emotions, Seraphina laughed and pushed her playfully.
"What, aiming for my attorney fees?"
"Do you think I’d be that kind of person?" Ivy rolled her eyes, "You’ve finally found a good man—I wish for you two to stay happy forever."
Happy?
Seraphina sighed inwardly.
Those two words seemed destined to elude her.
"By the way, where are you headed after dinner, back to the Sovereign Villa?" Ivy asked.
Seraphina came to her senses and nodded lightly.
Since she had decided to divorce Ethan, avoiding it was not a solution.
She needed to sit down with him and have an honest conversation.
After the meal, Ivy dropped Seraphina off at The Thorne Estate, then immediately drove off to return to work.
Seraphina pulled her luggage into the living room and dialed Claire Clayton’s number to inquire about the New Year’s concert.
As soon as the call connected, Claire’s voice came through.
"Seraphina, there you are; things have been chaotic with the orchestra."
"What happened?" Seraphina quickly asked.
