Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 73: An Interesting parrot
Sage burst out crying again, causing Cyrus to come to a halt and flinch in anger.
Why did she sound so agitated? He seemed to have enraged her.
Cyrus shrugged and turned to see Genevieve standing in front of him looking helpless. "My sister attempted to murder me and my child. I thought I could rely on her, but..."
"I am not interested in hearing your sob story." Cyrus cut in sounding and looking bored.
His actions seemed to elicit Sage’s cries, and he glared at her murderously, seeing her emerald eyes blaze with fiery red.
"An Interesting parrot." Cyrus’ lips twitched.
Genevieve observed this with a thoughtful expression. Her emerald eyes twinkled, moved to look at the ice dragon, and she was surprised to see his lips twitch. He was known for his ruthlessness, and she knew he had a frozen heart, which meant he was resistant to feeling pure feelings. He was the last of his kind, with a disorganised castle system, but he ruled his kingdom well.
"Your Majesty..." She trailed when Cyrus locked his gaze on her, as if he could read her mind.
"What did you do to your husband? He would never let you take her away." He asked in a sinister yet curious tone.
Genevieve took a step back, closed her eyes, and inhaled deeply. "I used all of my powers to... put him to sleep. Only I can wake him up." She revealed.
Cyrus was moved by her revelation and smiled. "Interesting, but I am afraid I can not help you."
Genevieve smiled and nodded. "But you will in the future."
Cyrus’ brows raised and then lowered with a slight frown.
He walked past Genevieve and towards Lianna, who was still motionless. Her flicked her forehead, she closed her eyes and fell flat on the ground.
"Come with me." Cyrus began to walk away.
Genevieve smiled, holding sage to her chest, and followed Cyrus.
They arrived in the darkest part of the forest, not far from where they had previously been. The cold was so intense that Genevieve thought she was going to die.
The trees were dead all around, the cloud was darker than usual, and an ancient frozen mansion stood in front of them. The walls were completely frozen, with cracks visible beneath the ice as they got closer.
They approached the door, which had no handle. A snowflake was carved in the centre of a circle that was carved on the door. When Cyrus relaxed his hand on the snowflake, his eyes changed into their silver reptile-like form and shone brightly. This caused a glow to start under his hand and spread to the snowflake right away. He pushed the door open and entered total darkness.
In silence, Genevieve observed this. She questioned whether it was wise to follow a being who was capable of snapping her neck if she provoked him.
"Do you require an invitation?" She could hear the echoes of annoyance in his deep voice.
The door slammed behind her as she walked straight into the shadows.
"Weak without your powers." She heard Cyrus scoff.
Genevieve was lost in the darkness and hugged Sage tightly. She was perplexed and began to question why she was following the ice dragon in the first place.
She found herself in another dark room and noticed something bright in front of her.
A woman in an ice sculpture who had her hands extended as if anticipating an embrace stood frozen on the aisle, her eyes squinted at the figure in front of her. The sculpture attempted to conceal the beauty of the woman who was depicted but failed.
A large snowflake and a flare were floating above her outstretched hands.
"Aurora!" Genevieve exclaimed in surprise.
"Do not wake her." Behind her, Cyrus hissed.
Genevieve turned around to see him holding a white nine-tailed fox. The nine-tailed looked displeased to see her, while Cyrus was expressionless.
"You know, I am aware that you knew my mother and father, but they are no longer alive, which is unfortunate." Cyrus spoke casually, shaking his head at the end of his statement.
Genevieve nodded and sighed.
"You are Genevieve Adrelean, the second child of Lucian and Serah Donovan, wind mage and Credia’s strongest warrior. You always gain favour wherever you go, and you keep your kingdom safe from the Statkus mages in particular. You fell in love, a forbidden love that resulted in your exile, but you still guarded your kingdom from afar..." Cyrus trailed off with a hearty chuckle. "I sensed your daughter from the moment she was born, and you will have to do something to prevent me from killing her before the Statkus mages do." His silver eyes glowed faintly as he added sinisterly.
Genevieve frowned and dilated her pupils. "What exactly do you want?" She clenched her teeth and growled.
"Her life force." Cyrus responded with a low hiss.
"Never!" Genevieve snarled.
Cyrus nodded, placed the nine-tailed fox on the ground, and approached Genevieve, who was terrified but tried to hide it.
"Genevieve Adrelean, this is not a request. You trust easily, and worse, you trusted me despite knowing what I am capable of." Cyrus spoke calmly.
"Do you have no concern for her life?" Genevieve asked, puzzled.
"Why should I?" Cyrus laughed. "Think about it: if I kill her, the Statkus mages will be unable to see her and extract her life force." He added before turning away.
Genevieve held Sage in her arms with ease. Her lovely daughter had already fallen asleep. "I will return to my kingdom and try to mend things." She muttered.
"What makes you think I will let you leave?" Cyrus abruptly inquired.
"Let them go! Cyrus." A female voice boomed.
Genevieve exclaimed as she gazed at the ice sculpture. "Aurora..."
"The mages have gathered in front of the mansion." Aurora notified.
Cyrus stared at the ice sculpture, while Genevieve dashed away.
"Mother." Cyrus grumbled.
"Please let them go for my sake." Aurora’s voice echoed, filled with pain.
Cyrus smirked, turned away, carried the nine-tailed fox, and stormed away.
Genevieve returned to the darkness, her face flushed with fear and confusion. The door suddenly opened in front of her, and she dashed out of the mansion, encountering Statkus mages. There were about twenty of them, and none of them were attractive. Their nails were sharp like claws, their skin was horribly pale, and half of each of their faces were horribly deformed. Each of them was holding a staff that was glowing dark green above them, and they were all dressed in tattered black garments.
"Surrender the child!" A man among them shrieked abnormally.
"Never!" Genevieve screamed and terrifiedly hugged her child.
"Okay, then!" They all pointed their glowing staffs at her after another shrieked.
"Not in front of my mansion!" A cold, rage-filled voice thundered. The ground seemed to shake.
Genevieve turned to face the open door and saw Cyrus emerge from the shadows with his nine-tailed fox in his arms, both furious.
