Chapter 50: I will do anything

The silence in the carriage was oppressive, and Sage couldn’t help but glance at Cyrus, who was constantly engaging in an eye contest with his nine-tailed fox.

Only the sounds of the wheels rubbing against rocks and horses could be heard, and Sage was boiling with rage.

Why were they always having a staring contest? It was bizarre and creepy.

Cyrus kissed her, and everyone in the castle witnessed the moment. Her face flushed, and she smiled, rubbing her hot cheeks.

"Interesting." She overheard Cyrus chuckle.

She gasped and looked at him, then frowned. "What?"

"Nothing," he smiled, returning his gaze to his nine-tailed fox. "I am surprised you agreed to accompany me without asking what we are going to do in town." Cyrus spoke calmly as he stroked Snowflake’s fur.

Sage blinked quickly, unsure how to respond to his words. "Are you taking me somewhere to kill me and take my fire core?" She asked slowly, her gaze averted from him.

"Perhaps," Cyrus laughed, and Sage’s eyes widened in surprise.

She stiffly turned to face him, her mouth wide open in awe.

What was going on with him? He was much loosed and less harsh than before.

Sage pouted, knowing she had also relaxed. She wasn’t hostile to him, perhaps because she didn’t have any reason to kill him.

Cyrus looked at her and said, unexpectedly, "We are going on our trip."

"What?!" Sage was taken aback.

"Everything we need has been prepared, so do not be concerned."

"Not helping!" Sage exclaimed and frowned deeply.

"Do not worry, we will only be there for a week before returning to the castle."

"Who is going to make sure everything is in order in the castle?" Sage inquired, blinking rapidly.

"Ashton." Cyrus sighed in response.

"Where are we going?" Sage inquired, perplexed.

"Empire City, the royal ice dragons’ original home." Cyrus responded, his voice becoming stern.

"Original home?" Sage inquired, perplexed.

"It is a deserted mountain area, a beautiful ice land that was destroyed thousands of years ago, and it’s also my comfort zone." Cyrus paused with a smile, his voice lightening. "I go there every now and then."

"Did you build there?" Sage’s pupils dilated as she inquired.

"Yes, a massive mansion." Cyrus responded.

Sage gave a nod. "Are we going to stay there... alone?" Sage inquired, hesitantly.

Cyrus’ lips twitched in response to her question, and he tilted his head to the side. Sage quickly averted her gaze. "Oh!" She exclaimed angrily.

"We will be accompanied by Venus, Ares, and Snowflake."

Sage didn’t know why, but she was relieved that they would be alone.

She smiled and turned to face him. "Then we will have lot of fun!"

Cyrus arched his brow. "Fun?" He inquired, looking at snowflake, who was curled up like a ball on his lap. "What kind of fun?"

Sage couldn’t believe it, but she wasn’t surprised either. The ice dragon has never had fun.

"Ice skating, snowball fights, hunting, hide and seek, ice fishing..."

"Are all of those enjoyable?" Cyrus entered the scene, surprised.

"What do you like to do for fun?" Sage asked, a frown on her face.

"I am not into having fun." Cyrus rolled his eyes and said. "I am not a child." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"You were a child." Sage laughed.

"A child who never had any fun. There was no need, and there was no time. Not fun, but distraction should be the name." Cyrus expressed his displeasure.

"Fun does not distract; it brings peace of mind and happiness." Sage sighed and mumbled.

"Happiness? I can only be happy when I kill those who want to harm me. To see them scream in agony, as they wished to see me scream in pain." Cyrus spoke casually, but his words struck fear in Sage’s heart.

"Do not say that." Her voice was low, and she lowered her head.

"Of course," Cyrus chuckled and looked at her.

Was she terrified of him?

"Do not worry, you are safe with me." He muttered.

"Says the one who is going to murder me on his birthday." Sage muttered something.

Cyrus nodded and hummed. "Enjoy your time of living then."

"You are not going to kill me." Sage whispered, but he could hear her clearly.

"Do you trust me?" Cyrus inquired, her eyes widening.

She raised her head slowly and looked at him. His face was serene and beautiful, and his lips curved into a smile that revealed his dimples.

"You want me to trust you?" Sage inquired.

"What are your thoughts?" Cyrus inquired.

"There you are once more." Sage sighed and rolled her eyes.

"I want you to trust me." He unexpectedly said and placed his hand on hers. "I want to trust you."

Sage’s eyes welled up. The man was confusing her, and the way he spoke revealed that he had a terrible past. Mirabella’s words.. All of his kind were wiped out, and people close to him kept betraying him.

"Do you not want to know why there are not much people in the castle? Like elders? Advisers..?"

"He killed them all."

"Anyone who goes close to Cyrus has a mission and that mission is to kill him."

Sage gasped, removing her hand from under his and hugging herself while turning away from him. "How can I trust you? You only want me for my fire core, to kill me! I am your pawn!" She yelled at him, her eyes welling up with tears. "Consider him from your perspective... Put your feet in my shoes and see that it is very absurd to trust you, Cyrus Dragos." Tears streamed from her eyes. "I cry almost every day because of you!" She yelled.

Cyrus’ gaze was calm, and his eyes gradually transformed into their silver reptile form. "I will do whatever you want." Sage’s mind was blown up by his sudden statement.

"What?"

He cupped her face with his hands, his thumbs caressing her cheeks, and said, "Anything you want to do to stop crying every day because of me."
