Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 45: Everything
"My queen!" Sage awoke from her slumber when she heard a familiar voice call out loudly.
She yawned, stretched her arms, and smiled as she remembered what had happened the night before. She had a good sleep.
When she opened her eyes, there was no sign of Cyrus, she wasn’t surprised but intrigued noticing that room was brighter than usual because the curtains were drawn away from the windows, allowing sunlight to shine through.
"My queen!" Ava called out again.
"Come in," Sage yawned and moved her gaze to the door, which opened instantly, revealing Ava, who looked relieved to see her.
"You are awake!" Ava exclaimed.
Sage looked at her, remembering how she had hurt Ava the last time they spoke.
"I am sorry Ava, I..." she sighed.
"It is okay, my queen; you a lot on your plate. It is completely understandable." Ava cut in, brightly smiling.
Sage nodded and smiled. "I appreciate it." "Where is Cyrus?" she inquired.
"His highness left before dawn." Ava responded right away.
Sage nodded slowly, puzzled as to why he was always out and rarely slept in his room. She needed him to answer her many questions, including where they were going on their trip.
She could tell Ava was concerned about her. Ava kept staring at her as if she were a stray cute animal she wanted to adopt.
"I am sure you have heard what happened." Sage spoke slowly.
"You must be miserable, your kingdom, your family, gone." Sage let out a small laugh as Ava was about to cry.
"I am fine." She sighed, attempting to push away all negative thoughts.
Ava nodded slowly. "I can’t help myself, I saw you last night... so much blood coming out of you." She shivered as she squinted her eyes.
Sage’s eyes widened in surprise, and she mentally slapped herself for not considering it sooner.
"Did Cyrus call you to change my clothes?" She enquired, swallowing hard.
Ava shook her head negatively. "No."
Sage’s eyes widened, almost popping out of their sockets. Cyrus had bathed her and changed her clothes!
Sage almost passed out, but instead she took a pillow, buried her face in it, and screamed a muffled scream.
Ava, who was watching this, smiled nervously. ’It appears that their relationship is improving,’ she thought to herself.
.
Sage had a quiet day.
She took a bath and changed into a simple gown as she had no intention of leaving the room. She told Ava to bring her breakfast to the room and ate to her heart’s content. After a while, she went to the balcony to breathe in the crisp air that made her shiver.
"Unpredictable." She muttered to herself, referring to Cyrus.
A lot had happened, and so many things had been revealed to her, even if most of them spelled nothing but confusion, like Cyrus and Esteban’s words...
Sage’s mind flashed back to the image of the woman he was yanking by the hair, and she felt her heart grow heavy for not being able to save her.
Sage sighed and shook her head, unsure what was wrong with her. Why was she back in Anitca? Why did she feel so at ease in his arms? Why did she suddenly have a soft for him even after he murdered her "father" in front of her?
She genuinely wanted to understand him.
When her father stabbed her, Cyrus was in a dark state, but his eyes were ice blue and held... pain? But then they reverted to their blue slit form, revealing nothing but a dark lonely void.
"What is going on?" Her eyes lingered on the vast frozen forest in front of the castle as she murmured and caressed her neck.
She let out a heavy sigh and pinched the side of her neck that had been bit by Cyrus but didn’t feel the bite mark. She gasped and spun around, wanting to dash inside and look in the mirror.
Ooof!
She bumped into Cyrus, who had been standing behind her ever since she had gotten lost in thought.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and narrowed his eyes at her as she took a step back. "The mark is still there." He murmured, and she stared at him blankly.
"But I can’t feel it." She touched her neck again, this time feeling the mark.
Cyrus’ lips twitched, and he rolled his eyes, releasing her shoulders. "You still resent me." He spoke in a harsh tone.
Sage scoffed and crossed her arms across her chest. "Do you expect me to like you?" She asked, scowling once more.
Cyrus looked at her, his silver eyes flashing, and he responded. "Yes,"
Sage’s eyes twitched in surprise, and she stared at him in awe.
"W..what?" Her voice was trembling.
Your resentment is not as strong as it once was, which is why you are not weak. You must be perplexed by your attraction to me, but it is all the work of the mark." Cyrus explained casually, then turned away and entered the room.
Sage remained motionless, stunned. "Is the attraction due to the mark? But I am not feeling any lust-inducing hatred." She said to herself in a tiny voice, then ran into the room to find the demon panthers seated next to the bed, and Cyrus, who was seated on the bed, with the nine tailed fox on his laps, and they were having a creepy stare-off.
"I. Cyrus."
"I do not care if you despise mr parrot; it changes nothing." Cyrus interrupted her without breaking eye contact with his nine-tailed fox.
Sage was confused, and she was sick of being confused. "Change what?"
"Change the fact that I will have your fire core, you will carry my child, and I will have your heart." Sage was taken aback when Cyrus responded unexpectedly.
"What?" She inquired, her voice high and stunned.
Cyrus’ lips curled into a devious smile as the nine-tailed fox blinked.
"You heard me, you are not deaf." He mocked and placed Snowflake on the bed before standing up and walking towards Sage, who frowned at his words. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"I am not!" She yelled and gasped as he leaned his face against hers.
"Good." He laughed deeply, causing goosebumps to pop out of her skin like a disease. "You are my pawn and my wife, almost a toy but I kept you as a pawn." With a deep hiss, he paused and grabbed her chin. "Pawns do not make their players feel strange, but you do; you make me want to devour you on the spot, and you make me want to caress your satin skin." He paused, diverting his lips to her ear, and seductively whispered. "Do not worry, I restrained while bathing you, but I saw everything."
