Married to my nemesis-Chapter 174: Swimming pool
As the trolley near Abi’s seat, she expected to be served with a dish or having Vixen’s food served first but then she was amazed when a small card was placed on her table.
Just as she saw the lilac card appear in front of her, it was placed with an abbreviation.
WEH...
She frowned, she’s never heard of this abbreviation before, so what does it mean?
With a suspicious gaze, she turned to Vixen expecting him to give her a clue about the issue but he was rather calm like it was none of his plan as the maids came towards him to set his food.
She turned to Arthur and then she gently left air through her tongue so she could whisper.
After doing it for a few seconds, Arthur finally noticed that she was the one called out.
She used her eyes towards the booklet trying to ask what it was about but then Arthur shrugged.
She gave him a gaze once again to confirm if he didn’t know anything but then he played her putting an innocent face on and denying it as he shook his head.
She tried to remember if she had talked to Vixen the previous day about having her food which was selected from her.
But she couldn’t remember a thing, so did it mean that Vixen was doing this on purpose or it was like she had thought, a surprise gift or something.
She coughed a bit to clear her throat as she turned to Vixen.
"Hmm, Vixen, do you remember me talking about having any food of my selected choice last night?"
"No, why?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to confirm, that’s all."
"Is it because of the menu? "
She had the urge to speak out that it was because of the menu but then she thought that it must have been a new system Vixen is introducing so they wouldn’t waste food.
Even though there was a timetable.
In her head, she couldn’t help but sigh shocked by Vixen’s behaviour.
What else could she expect, he does so many things that could be funny even if he was trying to play mature.
She opened the booklet and to her dismay, what she saw was not understandable, she turned to Vixen place once again, was he really sure that he was trying to make this thing a system or he was just doing it so he could mess with her.
She looked at the menu seeing that the only dish available was cake.
Seriously ?
She turned to look at Vixen trying to wonder if he was actually doing it on purpose.
"What happened?"
Is good that he noticed her gaze, she said inwardly in her head.
"Well, the list says cake, is all cake," she turned the booklet to him so he could be accountable to it.
"But then, it has different flavours —"
"That’s it, that’s what I was trying to recall. I want to try and remember if I had requested of you to give me cake instead. "
"No you didn’t, is just what we have for you today."
"But it’s weird, Vixen. There’s supposed to be a different dishes from this."
"You can still choose one right?"
"I smell a rat hear," she said squinching her eyes at him telling him she was super sure that this had something else to do other than taking a meal.
Well whatever his plan was, she was ready to follow along.
She choose the menu and then in a jiffy, the cake was brought forward.
She smiled as she tried to recognize the cake, it was spongy cake, about three layers, maybe it was two layer beautifully decorated with icing on the top.
Good gracious that they didn’t spread the cake all over.
She hated taking a lot of icing sugar.
The cake was brought on the table and just in the arms of the maid, she saw the same abbreviation like the one on the menu card.
She turned to Vixen trying to gain an answer, she gestured to him with her eyes to the cake questioning what it was about.
"Are you surprised?"
"Well the cake writes the same abbreviation just like the card."
" Oh are you sure about that? " he said trying to fringe knowing something but then Abi looked at him with an expression begging to know what it meant.
"Could I help you read it?"
"Hmm, that’s what I want Vixen. An explanation about what it means."
"Well— WEH..." He behaved like he was reasoning what it was.
He even placed his hand on his chin all im the name of trying to guess the meaning.
Abi had the thoughts of calling one of the maids and questioning what it meant but then—
The leader of this conspiracy must talk.
"Well I thought that your generation must have abbreviated everything, so I thought why don’t we shorten the word, welcome home." Abi scoffed unable to believe him and then she burst into laugher.
" What happened? You don’t like it? " 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
" No, no, that’s not what happened. Is just that— oh my god, Vixen. Seriously this is what you wanted to say? Welcome home? " she continued laughing as she gripped her stomach to smoothen the pain from laughing.
" You don’t like it? "
" Of course, Vixen. I like it, but then I didn’t believe that you would write it in an abbreviation. But sincerely — the reason I’m laughing is because I expected something else. A big party or something. I didn’t expect that it was something like this, but to be honest, it’s cute and so cheerful. I give a thumbs up to it, nine out of ten. "
" What about the one? "
" You can’t cheat your way, I’m not going to give you the one because you didn’t tell me ahead that you were going to plan this surprise so I think is only right that I take the one, but sincere, is nice. Thank you baby boy, even if you supposed your Papa and didn’t bother to tell mummy about the surprise. " She said as she turned her gaze to Arthur.
" But mummy, it’s a surprise. "
Abi couldn’t help but chuckle.
" My mischievous boy, " she said with a soft laughter.
They all dug into their plates and soon enough, Arthur started to fill Abi in on what she missed while she was away.
Abi had no choice even if she had the urge, she expected Vixen to leave for work but then, just like her, he stayed listening to Arthur’s words.
She turned to him a small smile formed on her face.
What really could have happened to him all of a sudden for him to become so jolly and sweet.
She turned to Arthur and just then Vixen turned his gaze to her settling it on her like she was some movie he didn’t want to pause.
Watching her giggle when Arthur said something funny and her other expression when his words became serious.
" Mummy, why don’t we take a pool party? " Arthur questioned out of the blue as Abi turned to Vixen for some approval.
" What are you going to say about that? " she said catching his gaze on her, Vixen became shy as he stuttered.
" Hmmm—" he tried to recall what he said as he squinched his eyes and then turned to Arthur.
" What did you say?"
"Daddy, common, didn’t you hear what I said?"
"No, no, actually, I was thinking of something I didn’t realize that you were speaking."
"Well Arthur was planning on taking a swimming lesson with all of us, and he thought why don’t we all take a party. It’s been long since he’s gone out. And i don’t think that I’m going anywhere this coming days, so I think I’m going to be available."
" I’m starting to feel like this is orchestrated. "
" Me? But— Arthur tell your father I have no hand in this, I just want us to have a pool party, and besides, we can’t make this house dull with just coming in and going out, we have to spice up the atmosphere."
" Common, Arthur support me here, your father is confusing everything, seriously Vixen. "
" Okay, okay, if that’s what you want then we’ll have a party, if that’s what Arthur wants. "
" No, no, that’s not what we mean— oh baby, your father is becoming old, " she said with a chuckle as she turned to Arthur.
Arthur nodded and then turned to his father.
"Daddy—" just about Arthur’s accusation, Vixen turned to him giving him a sharp gaze.
"Mummy, please defend me here—" Arthur said as he packed out leaning on the bench.
"Vixen, don’t scare the little boy," she said as she reached out for his arm gently using her hand to slap on the arm.
"Okay, we’ll do it,if is that you want to make that then you’re going to have what you want but there has to be something else. "
" What’s that? "
" You can only take that swimming outing only once you’re able to full my condition. "
Abi heaved a deep breath like she knew this a long time ago...
There was that man, the man who had conditions for every situation.
