Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 681 Qi Cheng’s Indifference_1
Ji Yunhuan felt immense pain from the few kicks she had just received, not to mention the blood now trickling from the corner of her mouth.
She never imagined there could be such a father in this world!
"Luo Sha, if you dare to leave, I’ll break your legs!" Father Luo threatened.
Clearly, threatening his daughter was his greatest skill.
With a glance from Ji Yunhuan, a bodyguard kicked Father Luo, making him kneel on the ground.
Pointing at Luo Sha, Ji Yunhuan said, "Luo Sha, look closely. He is your father but also a useless man. He only bullies you, his daughter. In front of others, he has no power to fight back. So, what are you afraid of?"
Luo Sha bit her lip, gazing at her father.
Since she was a child, her father loved to hit her. In her memory, he was a terrifying monster no one could defeat!
She never thought her father would one day be this pathetic.
Hearing Ji Yunhuan’s words, Father Luo angrily shouted, "You bitch..."
For this remark, he received another hit from the bodyguard, who was quite ruthless, causing Father Luo’s mouth to swell.
Mother Luo, seeing this, cried and shouted, "Murder! Murder!"
Neighbors passing by stopped to watch, curiously looking at the couple.
Seeing that everyone had stopped, Mother Luo continuously accused Ji Yunhuan of bullying her at their doorstep.
The neighbors were aware of how excessively the couple beat their daughter, but in this indifferent world, no one interfered. Even now, they had no intention of getting involved.
Taking the opportunity, they said, "You two beat your daughter too much. We’ve never seen parents like you. Now that you’re being taught a lesson, you deserve it!"
Looking at Luo Sha, everyone showed sympathy.
Luo Sha finally let her held-back tears fall.
People could endure pain but not sympathy because sympathy would amplify those wounds.
Soon, the police arrived. Ji Yunhuan had them release Father Luo, who took the opportunity to protest, "Officer, look at this woman..."
It turned out to be someone Ji Yunhuan knew. Upon seeing her, they approached, "Mrs. Qi."
Though there were rumors outside that Ji Yunhuan and Qi Cheng were divorced, no one was willing to offend her unless necessary. After all, even as the ex-wife of Qi Cheng, she was the mother of his two children.
Ji Yunhuan handed them the evidence she had taken earlier and asked them to handle it while she took Luo Sha to the hospital.
Father Luo had been very heavy-handed, and Luo Sha was seriously injured. Yet, throughout, the young girl hadn’t uttered a word of pain.
Ji Yunhuan sat by the hospital bed, heart aching as she looked at her, "Spend these next few days recovering in the hospital."
"What about my parents...?"
"They acted excessively and will be properly dealt with. I’ll have someone come take care of you, so rest assured and stay in the hospital for a while."
"Thank you, but please don’t tell Qi Mo. He’ll definitely worry if he knows."
Thinking of Qi Mo, Ji Yunhuan felt worried as well. With her sister-in-law’s personality, who knows how she’d reprimand him if she brought him back!
Seeing that Luo Sha, despite her own situation, was still worried about Qi Mo, Ji Yunhuan thought she was indeed a good girl, "Then we won’t tell him."
But even if she told Qi Mo, he probably wouldn’t be able to visit Luo Sha in the hospital.
Ji Yunhuan looked at Luo Sha, unsure of what to say, and didn’t know if she should encourage her to persist with her feelings for Qi Mo. They were still young, and who knows what the future might hold?
Like her relationship with Qi Cheng, the journey had been too arduous for Ji Yunhuan.
Luo Sha asked, concerned, "Will Qi Mo be in trouble when he gets back? Will his mom hit him?"
"Don’t worry about him. He’s a boy. Even if he gets hit, it won’t be a problem."
Hearing this, Luo Sha became even more worried. She had been beaten nearly to death by her father and didn’t mind being slapped by her sister-in-law, but she couldn’t bear the thought of Qi Mo being hurt.
Helplessly, Ji Yunhuan comforted her, "He’ll be fine. Not all parents are like yours. Qi Mo’s mother wouldn’t hit him." At most, he’d be grounded for a few days.
Hearing this, Luo Sha felt a bit relieved.
Lying on the bed, thinking about her father being beaten, though he was her father, she felt no sympathy. She was too cowardly to resist, but that didn’t mean she’d consider family ties in this moment.
Lying on the bed, Ji Yunhuan asked her, "What would you like to eat? I’ll have someone bring it to you."
"Anything is fine." She wasn’t picky about food.
Looking at the young girl, Ji Yunhuan smiled, "Then I’ll bring you something random. You get some rest, I need to go out for a bit."
After leaving the hospital, Ji Yunhuan called Qi Cheng.
The call was quickly answered, "Hello."
"Qi Cheng, it’s me. Are you busy now? I need a favor."
"Very busy." His tone was cold. Ji Yunhuan frowned, realizing he was no longer as kind to her as he used to be. Confused, she asked, "Did I do something to make you angry? Why are you so cold?"
It wasn’t like this before.
Hearing Ji Yunhuan’s words, Qi Cheng replied, "No, you’re overthinking."
Ji Yunhuan was willing to believe she was overthinking.
But she still had a strange feeling. She got to the point, "Qi Mo and Luo Sha’s matter was discovered by my sister-in-law. She took Qi Mo back. I’m worried about him. Can you check on Qi Mo?"
Ji Yunhuan wanted to visit the Qi family, but her current situation was awkward, and she couldn’t leave.
"...Got it." Qi Cheng said before hanging up coldly, without any extra words.
After hanging up, Ji Yunhuan asked someone to buy dinner for Luo Sha. On her way home, she looked at the call log on her phone, still feeling concerned.
She really felt something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it.
Qi Cheng’s attitude towards her definitely didn’t seem like nothing was up.
What had happened to him?
Early the next morning, Ji Yunhuan received a call from Assistant Gao, "Ms. Ji."
"Is there something?"
"Mr. Qi has checked on Young Master Qi Mo. Young Master Qi Mo is fine. Please don’t worry!"
Hearing that Assistant Gao called instead of Qi Cheng himself, Ji Yunhuan felt even more speechless!
What was Qi Cheng’s issue? Was a simple phone call too much for him?
"What is he busy with so early?" Ji Yunhuan was curious about Qi Cheng’s situation.
"He has a meeting this morning, preparing for that."
"Ruirui and Yangyang miss him a lot lately. When will he come to see them?" Ji Yunhuan, like Qi Cheng, started using the children as an excuse.
