Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 382: True Colors
Chapter 382: True Colors
Selina let out a soft chuckle. "Are those questions really that hard to answer?"
Of course Angelica couldn’t answer them. Inside, she was cursing Selina to death.
"I—I just..."
"I can ask something easier, then," Selina continued, her voice calm. "What injuries did Logan suffer? What first aid did you perform? Since you call it ’a life-saving favor,’ you must’ve actually saved him. So, Angelica, how exactly did you do it?"
Every eye in the room turned to Angelica.
She was drenched in cold sweat, her body trembling. "I... I..."
At this point, who still didn’t understand? Even Joe was staring at Angelica, completely stunned.
Angelica was seething inside. So what if she had faked being the one who saved Logan? Was it wrong to want a better life? She... she just loved Logan too much!
No. She couldn’t admit it.
She suddenly shouted in desperation, "I am the one who saved Logan! Yes! I even have the button! Logan, you couldn’t have forgotten it—it was the keepsake you gave me!"
When Logan had been rescued years ago, he’d had nothing to offer as thanks. The only thing he could give was a button from his coat—engraved with the initials "LR" in a special way. It was one of a kind. And that button had ended up in Angelica’s hands.
Selina replied casually, "Back in high school, during my time in the dorms, there was a theft incident. The roommate who stole from me was expelled, but I suspect that’s when the button went missing."
Angelica’s face twisted. She already knew where Selina was going with this. "So now you’re saying your classmate stole the button? Why should anyone believe that? The button is mine!"
Selina smiled faintly. "No need to get defensive, Angelica. I wasn’t finished—"
"At the time, I didn’t remember saving Logan, so I didn’t even care about what I’d lost. But thanks to the little kidnapping you arranged, I found out the truth from the kidnappers. After I got out, I started looking into that high school theft."
"And wouldn’t you know it—after that theft, my ex-roommate suddenly received a one-million-dollar transfer from Katie."
"Oh, and just so you know, Ms. Katie must’ve wanted to keep her identity hidden. She made the transaction in an underground exchange. What she didn’t expect was that the surveillance footage was still intact."
As Selina finished, Jack stepped forward and respectfully played the video.
Angelica shrieked in panic.
In the footage, Katie could be seen acting suspicious, glancing around nervously. After a few minutes, a high school student approached and handed her a button. Katie, in turn, gave the student a check.
Jack zoomed in on the clip.
Everyone could clearly see the button in the student’s hand, with the initials "LR" etched on it.
The guests began exchanging glances. This was irrefutable evidence.
Katie had bought the button. She was willing to pay a million for it because she knew what it meant—
It meant whoever held that button would be recognized as Logan’s savior.
It meant access to the full support and power of the Clark family.
Angelica’s lips trembled. A flicker of fear finally broke through her crazed expression.
"I didn’t know! I don’t know anything about an underground market or some student! Logan, the button was from you, always! How could you not believe me?!"
Logan answered without hesitation: "I don’t."
The truth was crystal clear.
Selina’s questions went unanswered; Angelica had nothing but "I don’t know" for every piece of evidence Selina presented.
No one believed her tears anymore.
Angelica shook her head desperately. "No, no! Selina must’ve bribed someone at the exchange to fake that footage! Selina, why are you doing this to me? Why are you framing me?!"
"Framing you?" Selina sneered, and in spite of Joe’s shocked exclamation, she grabbed Angelica by the jaw.
"Everything’s me framing you, huh? Me nearly dying was me framing you? You forging my will—that’s me framing you? You faking a pregnancy and miscarriage—also me framing you? How much longer are you going to keep using this pathetic excuse, you useless, disgrace of a sister?"
"Angelica, you and the entire Clark Family spent years driving me into a corner—just to protect your status and hide the truth about who you really are."
"And now you’re still trying to say I’m framing you?"
"No—no! AHHHH!" Angelica screamed.
Panic consumed her. Her trembling worsened until she was barely in control of her body. Her mind blanked, and the next words out of her mouth were manic.
"Logan! I saved you! How can you believe someone else? You’re supposed to believe me!"
"I only did all of this because I love you! Why would you trust that bitch Selina?! What is she to you?! Just some bastard girl who should’ve died a long time ago! What do you see in her?!"
The room collectively recoiled.
Someone finally snapped, "You’re disgusting! Angelica, do you think we’re all blind? The evidence is right there, and you still have the nerve to say you’re the one who saved him?"
"Did everyone hear what she just called Selina? A ’bitch’? A ’bastard’? This is the same woman who used to act like Selina was her beloved sister. Now look at her."
"Honestly, Angelica’s always been awful to Selina. Faked a pregnancy, lied about a miscarriage, tried to ruin her reputation—and the Morris Family just kept covering for her..."
"This is infuriating! She’s stolen everything from Selina over the years and still tried to destroy her completely!"
Online, netizens were equally horrified:
[She hired a hitman, forged a will, played the mistress card, faked a pregnancy and miscarriage, impersonated a life-saving hero... what kind of hate does she have for Selina?!]
[I’m in shock. All of that done by one person—Angelica?]
[There’s gotta be more, right? This can’t be everything.]
[Her fans can’t possibly defend her now. This woman needs to be blacklisted from the entire internet.]
[Blacklist? That’s not enough. She belongs in jail.]
[...You guys are too optimistic. Sure, she committed attempted murder and a dozen other crimes—but she’s the Morris Family heiress. City H’s first family, centuries old, powerful beyond belief. Protecting one criminal daughter is nothing for them.
[They’ll probably turn off the cameras and pretend this never happened. Angelica will go home and keep living like royalty.]
Both the online crowd and the guests at the scene fell into uneasy silence.
Everyone had thought it: justice might not come after all.
Angelica, reeling from the collapse of her "life-saving" lie, was overwhelmed by fear. With a piercing scream, she lunged at Selina, arm raised to slap her across the face.
But before she could get close—Logan kicked her straight off her feet.
