Manaless Mage-Chapter 231: The winner
Chapter 231: The winner
Fwuummm!!
Susan swiftly swung her sword towards Nathan, unleashing a powerful slash which moved through the air at tremendous speed.
As she released her attack, Nathan also launched his, sending out a long yellow slash.
Swoosh!!
Bright yellow flame burned ferociously around the slash, eager to devour all that stood in its path.
BWOOSH!!
Within an instant, the two attacks collided in the air, the force behind their collision sending out a small shockwave of mana, which swept across the stage.
The light from Susan’s slash wave shone brightly, slowly pushing back against Nathan’s slash.
Nonetheless, Nathan’s attack didn’t give up easily.
Its flame burned even brighter, slowly eating into Susan’s spell, reducing it bit by bit.
Meanwhile, Nathan and Susan simply watched as their attacks fought violently in the air, the both of them too exhausted to even lift a finger.
Fwoosh!!!
Power rapidly built up between the two slashes, and in the next second, an even more powerful shockwave of mana bursted out, clouding the stage in a mixture of light and floating yellow particles.
For a few seconds, the whole hall went silent, and they all watched, eager to see who would emerge victorious.
After a few seconds, the stage finally cleared, revealing the two participants standing within it.
Huff!
Huff!
Huff!
The two of them were panting heavily, with their sword hanging weakly from their hands.
Drip!
Drip!
Blood slowly dripped to the ground, and an awkward silence hung heavily between them.
"Damn... I lost." Nathan mumbled, his eyes drifting to the large gash running across his torso.
Blood rapidly gushed out of the wound, forming a small pool of blood beneath his feet.
Despite his channeling all his power into that slash, a huge portion of Susan’s spell still managed to break through it, cutting deep into his torso.
Clang!
His sword slowly slipped from his grasp, falling to the ground with a loud clang, and his knees slowly stumbled to the ground.
However, despite his condition, his lips slowly curled into a slight smirk, before his body finally collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Huff!
Huff!
Huff!
Susan panted heavily, a strange expression flashing through her eyes as she stared at the unconscious body of Nathan. frёeωebɳovel.com
With her mana already exhausted, the lights jutting from her back had already vanished into thin air, leaving only a few specks of light which floated in the air.
"Ugh..." She suddenly fell down on her knees, letting out a low grunt of pain.
"Hah..." She breathed heavily, solely placing her hand on the side of her stomach.
’I wasn’t able to escape unscathed...’ She thought, feeling the warm blood slowly bleeding from her wound.
Although her spell eventually got to Nathan, a small portion of the combat mage’s slash managed to break through, stabbing deep into her torso.
Even now, she could feel its power raging through her, sending jolts of pain all through her body.
’What kind of technique is that...?’ She mumbled inwardly, stifling another groan.
[Wow! What a thrilling battle! And we finally have our winner, Susan Grey!!]
The commentator abruptly announced, and the audience immediately exploded in a loud round of cheers.
Even though Nathan lost, none of them dared see him as weak, especially with how far he managed to push Susan.
Just remembering how bravely he fought, more so against someone more powerful than him, greatly inspired them.
The moment the fight was over, a couple of instructors swiftly rushed unto the stage, attending to the participants.
Unlike the previous matches, the injuries the both of them suffered were a lot more severe, so the academy treated it with utmost urgency.
A few of them rushed towards Nathan, swiftly feeding him with healing and mana-replenishing potions, before ushering him out of the stage.
As they moved him out of the stage, they also healed his injuries using healing spells, and within seconds, the large cut on his torso closed up, like it was never present.
They also fed Susan similar potions, before going on to heal her injuries.
However, the Elementalist refused their efforts to assist her out of the stage, claiming she was totally fine to move on her own.
She gently sheathed her sword, her head hanging low as she slowly walked down the stage.
’It’s still not enough...’ She thought, gnashing her teeth in frustration. ’I’m... still not strong enough.’
Although she was the winner of the fight, she still felt very disappointed in herself, feeling she could have done better.
Meanwhile, Harry’s lips slowly curled into a smirk, as he reminisced on the events that took place during that fights.
’They really are powerful...’ He thought, a weird glint flashing through his eyes.
That technique Nathan used, and also the spell Susan used at the end of the fight... he was sure they would pose him some trouble if he went up against them.
Nonetheless, he was confident in his strength, to take down any attack that was sent his way.
Most especially if it were one involving mana, which constituted a major part of Elementalists and combat mages attacks.
However, for now, all that he was focused on was the final match between he and Susan, which would be taking place the next day.
[Finally! After a long and exciting set of fights and matches! We have our two finalists!!!]
[Susan Grey, and Harry Ainsworth!!]
[Who will emerge as the winner, and the new rank one student of the academy?!!]
[Will it be Susan Grey?!! The current rank one Elementalist?! Or Harry Ainsworth, the dark horse who suddenly rose up in this year’s ranking competition, shocking us with his insane power and talent?!!]
As if to confirm his thoughts, the commentator suddenly announced, and the whole hall went up in another loud round of cheers.
The audience immediately started chanting their names in excitement, already eager to watch the fight between the two of them.
Meanwhile, in the backstage, Susan’s brows slowly furrowed into a deep frown when she heard the chants echoing from the event hall.
’Harry Ainsworth...’ She thought, slowly clenching the water bottle in her hands.
