Chapter 222: Harry Vs Trent[1]

A few minutes had passed since the eliminated round was finished, and the event had already progressed to the semi-final round of the competition!

The giant hologram floating above the stage swiftly flashed once more, displaying the two matches taking place in this round of the event.

Trent Morton Vs Harry Ainsworth

Nathan Lane Vs Susan Grey

The moment the audience saw those set of names, they exploded into cheers of excitement.

A match between Harry and Trent was one the audience had been eagerly anticipating.

Ever since the beginning of the ranking event, some rumours have been spreading around the academy about Harry and Trent being brothers.

However, not everyone believed the rumours, finding their resemblance to be just a ’coincidence’.

Throughout his stay in the academy, Trent had never mentioned anything about having a brother.

Besides that, they had different surnames.

[Calling on the first Elementalist participating in the semi-finals! Trent Morton!!]

The commentator shouted with excitement, and the curtains at the left end of the hall slowly opened up, revealing a young boy with sandy brown hair.

The audience immediately exploded into loud cheers on seeing Trent, everyone eager to witness his great elemental power again.

Trent slowly walked towards the stage, with a deep frown, which only deepened even further the closer he got to the stage.

’Harry... I’ll crush you.’ He thought, tightly clenching his fists as he climbed unto the stage.

After a few minutes, the chaos in the hall finally died down, and the commentator went on to call the next participant.

[And the one he’ll be facing today! A dark horse in this year’s ranking event! Harry Ainsworth!]

Swish!

The curtains on the opposite end slowly slid open, and Harry emerged from it, with his lips curled into a slight smirk.

A strange glint flashed across his eyes, when he noticed the familiar Elementalist standing within the stage.

’To think a day like this would come.’ Harry thought, as he slowly climbed the stage, coming face to face with Trent.

"You..." Trent muttered, clenching his fists even tighter in annoyance.

[Let the match begin!]

"Crescent wind slash!" The second the commentator announced the start of the duel, Trent swiftly sent out a powerful slash of wind towards Harry.

Whoosh!!

The slash wave flew through the air at insane speed, reaching its target almost immediately.

However, just as it was about to touch Harry, he swiftly stepped to the side, and the wind slash flew past him.

"Wind Slash." Harry muttered, summoning a long slash wave of wind, before shooting it towards Trent.

Whoosh!

The wind slash flew across the air at an even greater speed, closing in on the Elementalist almost immediately.

"Water Burst!" Trent hurriedly casted another spell, propelling himself to the side with a powerful burst of water.

’What the hell was that?!’ He thought, his eyes widened in shock.

At first he wanted to block the attack, but for some reason, his instincts kept screaming at him to dodge.

He didn’t know why... but he doubted any of his spells would work in blocking the slash wave.

’Damn it... he’s just trash.’ Trent mumbled inwardly, gnashing his teeth in frustration.

He hated it... the fact that an attack from Harry made him wary really annoyed him.

Although he didn’t want to admit it, Harry had truly gotten powerful, and within a very short time at that.

’Why isn’t he attacking though...?’ He thought, his eyes narrowing slightly.

’Is he... looking down on me?!’ Trent’s eyes widened at the thought, and his brows furrowed into a deep frown.

"How dare... you?!" He shouted, hurriedly channelling his mana.

Slosh!!

A powerful steam suddenly appeared around his right arm, rushing down to his hand.

"Hydro-Fist Surge!!" He shouted, swiftly thrusting his fist forward.

Splosh!!

In the next moment, the water stream surged towards Harry, coalescing into a giant fist of water.

Harry’s eyes narrowed slightly when he noticed the water fist rapidly closing in on him.

’Accelerate!’

[+150 points temporarily allocated to agility]

A system notification flashed across his eyes, and his speed immediately took a massive leap.

The speed of the giant fist slowed down greatly in his eyes, to point where he was able to follow it easily.

Swoosh!

"Hehe." Harry let out a light chuckle, before dashing towards Trent.

He easily weaved through the water fist, closing in on the Elementalist within seconds.

Blitzz!!

"Lightning Ball." He muttered, summoning a small ball of condensed lightning, shooting it towards Trent’s torso at point-blank range.

Trent’s eyes widened in shock, as Harry’s figure suddenly vanished in front of his sight.

Blitzz!

However, he got his answer soon, when he suddenly felt something slam into his torso.

Boom!

The lightning ball instantly went off in a powerful explosion of lightning upon making contact with Trent’s body.

"Argh!" Trent grunted in pain, as his body was sent flying by the force of the explosion.

The lightning shocks rapidly coursed through him, sending jolts of pain all through his body.

Thwack!

’When did he... get in front of me?!’ He thought, gritting his teeth in pain, as his body slammed into the ground.

His body kept bouncing uncontrollably, rapidly nearing the end of the stage.

However, just as he was about to slide off the stage, he hurriedly casted a wind spell, using it to balance his feet back on the ground.

"Argh..." Trent grunted, as his feet finally slid to a halt, just at the edge of the stage.

His subconsciously looked behind him, swallowing down a hard gulp, as he wondered what would have happened if he didn’t stop when he did.

’That was close... too close!’ He thought, swiftly moving away from the edge.

His gaze slowly turned back to Harry, and his brows furrowed into a deep frown.

’All with one attack... how could he be so strong? I’m supposed to more talented, I’ve trained hard... all these years. Yet, he just awakens his affinity... and gets this powerful after a few months?!’ He thought, gnashing his teeth in frustration.

’How is that possible?! He’s just trash... It doesn’t make any sense!’ He thought, unwilling to accept the reality in front of him.

He didn’t want to admit it... but he didn’t see any way he could win against Harry without going all out.

’Fine! I’ll go all out.!’ He thought, slowly getting back up on his feet. ’I’ll end this quickly!’

Splosh!!

"Water Blessing!" Suddenly, a powerful stream of water materialised over his chest, rapidly flowing down his arms and legs.

The water coated his arms like two thick gauntlets, with a thin stream connecting them to the swirling pool of water on his chest.

On his legs were a pair of thick water boots, each one connected to the same pool of water.

It made him look quite ridiculous, which was why Trent didn’t like it very much.

However, the boost in power it provided was no joke, so he could bear with it, as long as it gave him the power required to win!

Contrary to normal enhancement spells, a blessing was more like an innate technique.

It was a lot more powerful and effective as It didn’t just boost an Elementalist’s physical abilities, but also their elemental power.

Utilising an elemental blessing wasn’t a technique that could be taught to just any Elementalist; it depended on tbe Elementalist’s innate talent, or rather elemental affinity.

Only those with high or peak grade affinities could use an elemental blessing, as they had deeper connection with their element.

"Still acting cocky huh? Let’s see if you can keep that up." Trent said, flashing a smug smirk at Harry.

Meanwhile, Harry simply stared at him, with a slight smile on his face.

’A blessing...’ He mumbled inwardly, his eyes shining with glee.

He didn’t exactly understand how blessings worked, however, he was overjoyed by the amount of mana bursting out from Trent.

’Such powerful mana... so much EXP.’ He thought, barely holding back the urge to jump up in joy.
