===========

Harry stared at the duel lists with a slight smile on his face, however, Amanda, the girl sitting by his side wasn’t smiling at all when she saw the name of her opponent.

[And there we have our first match of the day!]

[Brenda Autumn Vs Umar Titus!]

The commentator’s voice roared throughout the event hall, causing the audience to explode into a round of cheers and applause.

Within a few minutes, the two Elementalists stepped unto the stage, with the cheers from the crowd growing even louder, especially at the sight of Brenda.

Brenda, a purple haired girl with pitch black eyes, was well known in the academy for her power and also her beauty, which was second only to Susan.

She was a stage three Elementalist, with high grade fire affinity and medium grade Lightning affinity.

Her talent was nothing to scoff at, with her having a high grade fire affinity and medium grade Lightning affinity.

She gracefully walked into the stage, flashing a smug smile at Umar, the tall, lanky boy with messy black who stood on the other end of the stage.

Umar hissed under his breath, finding her smile quite annoying. Though he knew he didn’t stand much of a chance against her, he still hated to see that demeaning look in her eyes.

He was a peak stage two Elementalist with high grade earth affinity, and despite the difference between their mana core stages, he was still talented on his own.

[And with that, let the fight begin!]

The commentator said, announcing the start of the fight.

"Earth Spike!" Umar shouted, stretching his hands towards Brenda and making a few hand signs.

Within seconds, a long, thin spike with sharp edges materialised in front of him, before shooting towards Brenda.

However, despite the incoming attack, Brenda still maintained that smug expression on her face.

"Fire Ball!" She suddenly shouted, stretching her hand towards the boy.

Almost immediately, a large fireball appeared in front of her, before shooting towards the boy at great speed, leaving a small trail of flames.

Boom!

The earth spike and the fireball collided midair, clashing against each other for a few seconds, before the fireball swiftly melted the spike, dashing straight towards the boy instead.

Umar’s eyes widened in shock, and he hurriedly tried to escape the incoming ball of flames.

Boom!!

However, his speed was just too slow, and before he could even react, the ball slammed into him at the side, before blasting him away like a rag doll.

"Arrrggh!!" He exclaimed in pain, as his upper body instantly went up in flames. His body crashed into the ground with full force, the impact putting out some of the fire.

He bounced around the hard ground like a broken marionette, before his body finally slid to his stop, just at the other edge of the stage.

He didn’t get back up, lying still on the ground, rendered unconscious by the force of that single attack.

"Hmph... so much for that scornful look." Brenda said, flicking her hair back in pride. She knew he was still alive, as the power she placed in the fireball would just be enough to knock him out, and not end his life.

[And there we have our winner, knocking out her opponent in one powerful attack! Brenda Autumn!!]

The commentator’s voice boomed across the hall, causing cheers to erupt among the crowd.

After the announcement, a female instructor swiftly came unto the stage, before healing Umar with a water spell.

After a few seconds, he finally regained his consciousness, tightly gripping his head in embarrassment.

’To think I won’t even be able to withstand one attack... how shameful.’ He mumbled inwardly, gnashing his teeth against each other in frustration.

Although he already knew he had no chance of winning, he still wanted to at least hold his ground... make the academy recognise him.

The instructor gently guided him off the stage, consistently inquiring about his well-being throughout the process.

Umar’s head was only bowed down in shame, and he couldn’t even find the confidence to look back up at Brenda, who kept smiling smugly.

Fortunately, no one jeered him for his loss as he left the stage. It wasn’t like anyone expected him to win in the first place.

[And from group 2, we have our next match! Trent Morton Vs Pier Garden!]

The first round of fights would first be completed in all the groups, before they would then move on to the second round, starting from group one all over again.

Meaning that, after Brenda and Umar’s fight, they wouldn’t move on to Tyron Nolan and Nathan, but to the first duel of group two, then group three, until they completed all the first bouts of all the groups.

To maintain a fair and systematic flow, the matches were arranged to avoid overburdening participants with continuous duels. This thoughtful approach was to prioritize the well-being of contestants, allowing for a balanced and enjoyable competition.

The audience erupted into another round of cheers, as Trent and Pier slowly climbed unto the stage.

Trent had a deep frown on his face, as he stared at his opponent.

As for Pier, his knees quaked in fear, the image of what happened to Umar replaying in his mind.

The deep frown on Trent’s face wasn’t helping either, as it sent chills down his spine.

He was also a stage two Elementalist, except he was still at the middle stage, boasting a medium-grade light element.

However, while his element was rare, its grade was just average, meaning he could never aspire to become a light mage.

The only reason he was able to make it to the final was due to his wits and quick thinking, none of which would help much in a one-on-one fight a stage three Elementalist.

’Damn Wes... I’ll kill him.’ Trent thought, clenching his fists in anger.

Just then, the commentator’s voice reverberated across the stage, announcing the fight.

[Let the fight... begin!!!]

Immediately, Pier channeled his elemental mana into his legs, before swiftly casting a spell.

"Light Boots!" He exclaimed, and a pair of thick boots made purely of light rapidly formed around his feet, greatly boosting his speed.

He didn’t plan on making the same mistake like Umar, which was trying to attack first. He knew he would never win in a battle of raw attack power.

Instead, he boosted his speed in hopes of escaping Trent’s attacks, before looking for a gap where he can exploit and then attack.

Utilizing the light boots on his feet, Pier swiftly dashed to the side, deciding against running straight at Trent.

’Do you think such a dumb strategy would work against me?’ Trent thought, gritting his teeth in anger.

He hurriedly channeled his own elemental mana, pouring it into his right arm.

Water swiftly materialised around his right shoulder, before flowing down to his fingers, coating his whole arm like a transparent armour.

Pier’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of this, subconsciously slowly down his run.

"Hydro Fist Surge!" Trent suddenly shouted, stretching his right hand towards the Elementalist.

Splash!!

Immediately, the water coating his right arm suddenly shot out towards Pier. Its volume expanding rapidly in the air, swiftly converging into large palm composed entirely of water.

The size of the hand rapidly grew in the air with its bottom connected to the water coating his wrist, until it became taller than even Trent himself.

’Damn it!’ Pier thought, stretching his hand towards Trent.

"Light Blade!" He shouted, swiftly conjuring two light blades before sending them towards Trent.

He knew it was pointless to try and outrun that giant palm, so he tried attacking Trent in a bid to break his concentration and bring down the spell.

But unfortunately, Trent easily blocked his attack, countering them with two wind blades of his own.

Seeing that his attack failed, Pier’s face morphed into a deep frown, and he hurriedly tried to escape the large hand rapidly approaching him.

However, before he could even move, the large hand suddenly closed in on him, burying him within its large fist, leaving only his head exposed.

"Arrgh!!!" Pier grunted in frustration, shaking desperately in a bid to free himself from its grasp.

To his surprise, despite the tight grip of the water hand, he didn’t feel even the slightest bit of pain.

But the more he struggled to free himself, the faster his strength waned. It was as if he was drowning... sinking into the giant fist of water.

Meanwhile, the audience gasped in awe at the display of Trent’s power and talent. The difference between the Trent of this ranking event and the one of the last was like heaven and earth, and it seemed like he was an entirely different person.

Trent’s lips curled into a wicked smirk, as he watched the boy fight against his spell in vain.

The smirk on his face slowly grew larger, and he swung his hand to the side, with the water hand following his motion, moving Pier along with it.

Clenching his fists tighter, Trent suddenly swung his hand towards the ground.

The large water hand immediately followed his motion, gripping Pier even tighter before slamming him into the ground.

Splash!!
