Manaless Mage-Chapter 184: Nagging feeling

The dim yellow hue around its body suddenly glowed even brighter, and thick veins bulged all over its body.

Roarrr!!!

With another thunderous roar, the mana beast furiously charged towards Harry, displaying a newfound strength that defied its previous restraints.

The massive creature tore through the lumps of earth that had once bound its limbs, each shattered piece flying in all directions.

Its eyes had already regenerated, and though it hadn’t healed completely, it could still see its surroundings quite clearly.

The beast’s speed was already high before, and with the additional boost it just received, its agility got even higher.

Its speed was insanely fast, and in seconds, it crossed the gap that existed between it and Harry.

Growl!!

With a loud growl, it opened its large mouth, unveiling a fearsome set of razor-sharp fangs, that were more than ready to dig into Harry’s flesh.

’Wind Burst!’ Just as the jaws of the beast were about to descend on him, Harry immediately activated a skill to evade the attack.

Swirl!!

The wind in front of him immediately swirled violently, before bursting into a large ’explosion’.

Blast!

The incredible force behind the "explosion" sent Harry’s body hurtling backward, away from the menacing jaws of the beast.

Snap!

The mana beast’s jaws clamped shut on empty air, causing a resounding snap that echoed through the surrounding space.

Harry’s face contorted slightly in pain, as a sharp sting shot up from his abdomen. Due to the suddenness of the situation, he ended up redirecting more energy than needed into the skill, so the explosion of air ended up being more powerful than he intended.

Since the blast occurred in his front, the impact was a little more than he expected, along with the pain that accompanied it.

However, he ignored the slight pain coursing through his abdomen, focusing more on the large beast in front of him.

’I can’t waste time on this mana beast.’ Harry thought, with a slight frown on his face as he landed back on his feet.

Despite his rapid energy regeneration, his energy was still dropping at an alarming rate, and if he wasn’t careful enough, he would surely lose the fight.

There was also the issue about the beast’s regeneration speed, which also posed a huge problem for him.

Growl!

The beast growled in annoyance, as it shook its head, still reeling from the shock from its jaws closing against each other.

The deep cut on its neck hadn’t healed yet, and the shocked caused it to throb even more with pain.

Harry, seeing the beast’s few seconds of distraction, took it as an opportunity for him to end the fight.

’I’ll finish it off, with just one powerful attack.’ He thought, with a slight smirk on his face. He swiftly leapt backwards, creating more distance between him and the large brown creature.

’Earth Rumble.’ Harry mumbled inwardly as he stretched his hands towards the beast.

Rumble!

Suddenly, the ground beneath the mana beast started vibrating, and a few, light cracks appeared on the surface.

Growl!

The beast let out a deep growl of anger, as its footing was once again rendered unsteady.

’And now’s the time!’ Harry thought, before stretching his hands towards the beast once more.

’Lightning Ball!’ He wasted no time in activating another attack skill, pouring a considerable amount of energy into the skill to boost its power.

Blitz!

Crackle!

Blue sparks flickered around his hands, before rapidly forming into a medium sized ball of lightning.

Crackle!

The bright blue ball crackled with even more intense lightning, and it began rapidly swelling, its surrounding lightning growing more turbulent with each passing second.

The expansion of the ball ceased when it reached the size of Harry’s torso, with thick blue lightning flickering all around it, casting a brilliant illumination in the area.

The size of the lightning ball was even larger when compared to the one he launched at one of the beast, and the power of the lightning coursing within it was almost twice more also.

The edges of Harry’s lips curled into a slight smile as he stared at the beast that was still struggling to stand on its feet.

For a split second, the large creature was put in a daze by the dazzling blue light reflecting from the huge lightning ball.

Harry didn’t waste the chance, taking that split second where the beast was dazed to swiftly launch fhe lightning ball towards it.

Blitzz!!

Crackle!!

The crackling ball of lightning flew through the air like a miniature storm, leaving a trail of dazzling blue sparks behind it.

Blast!!

In an instant, it closed in on the large head of the beast, slamming into its head with great force before erupting into a huge explosion of violent lightning sparks.

The powerful blast of lightning jerked the large head of the mana beast backwards, scorching nearly half of its face with the explosive impact.

Growl!!

The beast growled in agony, as lightning coursed through its head, mercilessly roasting its insides.

It felt like countless needles were prickling it all over its face, with each one worse than the former, and the creature couldn’t help but whimper in pain.

Thud!

Its eyes suddenly whitened, its limbs wobbled unsteadily on the ground, and then, with a thunderous crash, its massive body came crashing down on the ground.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the ground, cracking the pavement beneath it.

A notification flashed across Harry’s eyes, and his lips curled into a slight smile when he read it.

Just as he expected, that last attack ended the beast in one shot. The health of the mana beast had already dropped considerably from all the attacks he had landed on it, and the lightning ball was all it took to finally end its life.

Another system notification suddenly appeared in front of him, causing his brows to furrow into a slight frown.

However, while he didn’t feel too happy about the large chunk of energy that was used up on that attack, he couldn’t say he was surprised also.

After all, with how much energy he poured into the skill, it was only normal that the attack took at least a hundred points from his energy.

’Ohh, there’s that new skill notification I saw before!’ Harry thought. Back when he channeled his energy into [Blade Barrage], a skill notification appeared in front of him.

However, he wasn’t able to check it out as the last mana beast hadn’t given him any chance to do so.

Now that he had taken care of all the mana beasts, he could freely check the system notifications without any worries.

’So the system registered that as a new skill huh?’ Harry mumbled inwardly, with a light smile on his face.

When he ’used’ the skill, he only did it to test out a theory, about his energy and his skills.

He never actually expected it to become an actual skill, but he still felt happy about it nonetheless.

The notifications didn’t end there though, and almost immediately, a barrage of notifications started flashing across his eyes.

Harry’s eyes widened slightly at the amount of tabs flashing across his eyes. The barrage of tabs and characters made him feel a little dizzy even, but still, his lips curled into a slight smile.

A large number of his skills had finally leveled up, and with that, his strength had taken another leap once more.

He hadn’t expected [Energy control] to level up once more, as the skill only reached level five not too long ago.

However, it made sense. With how he regularly harnessed his energy along with his skills, it wasn’t too surprising that [Energy control] leveled up a lot faster than the others.

[Lightning Whip] also leveled up, finally reaching level two. It was one of his lowest level skills since he didn’t use it regularly.

While the skill was quite powerful, it didn’t really match his fighting style, especially against mana beasts.

With a low exhale, Harry closed the notification tabs, before turning his gaze back to the trio of dead brown creatures that were lying on the ground.

Just when he thought that was all, a notification suddenly appeared in front of him.

’Just as it thought, a hidden quest!’ Harry thought, as his eyes beamed with joy.

He had already expected the system to give him a quest related to the beasts, but, since he didn’t get any, he simply took his mind off it.

However, now that he realized that it was given as a "hidden quest" instead, he was glad, especially with the huge rewards he got from it.

’Three yasks...’ Harry mumbled inwardly, with his brows furrowed slightly in confusion.

’So that’s their race?’ He thought, as he gaze turned towards the dead mana beasts on the ground.

During the fight, he couldn’t find the time to scan them with [Probe], so he didn’t check their stats.

’Probe.’ He thought, as he turned towards the beast he killed last. It was the one that gave him the most trouble, so he was quite curious about its stats.

’Well... it’s a stage three mana beast, it’s expected.’ Harry thought to himself, before closing the tab.

He walked towards the beasts, swiftly placing all their bodies into his storage device.

He planned on removing their cores later, and also selling their bodies. This wasn’t the best time for him to remove the beast cores, since he still wasn’t sure whether the rift had closed or not.

There was still this nagging feeling at the back of his mind... that made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
