"Well then, that’s that. I wish you good luck on your path to eternity," Altor said to Leon in a rather calm voice, handing over the scroll. They had struck a deal.

"Yeah, whatever," Leon muttered, rubbing the side of his neck where a strange circular mark had formed. He had sworn an oath with the old man under very tight requirements. Even thinking about ways to break the oath would cause one’s brain to shatter as per the clauses of the oath.

It was a clear sign of Altor’s skewed and cunning nature. Even Leon couldn’t come up with a way around this method and if he tried he would die.

"See you in a hundred years, old fart," Leon said while gazing at a box in Altor’s hand. It contained parts of the pagoda Altor had requested. He recognized that these would be a huge power boost to Altor, which is why the contract stated that Altor was not allowed to scheme against Leon in any way, shape, or form for the next 100 years.

If by then Leon still couldn’t kill Altor, maybe he deserved to die. At least that’s what Leon thought.

"Hahaha, sure, we’ll see in a hundred years," Altor said, standing up as well and walking awkwardly in the same direction as Leon. There was still only one entrance to the cave, so they had to leave together.

A few awkward seconds later, they reached the cave entrance and blew it apart before emerging into the Yi Mountain Range once again.

"Burn, you fuckers!!!" On a mountain a few miles away, a bright flame burned in the air like a second sun. Its brightness and heat were unbelievable, even reaching them, who were extremely far away.

Immediately, it became clear they were far too late to join the battle for royal providence. Right now, Rengoku was serving as a guard above Kang’s head as he slowly absorbed the royal providence at the top of Yi Mountain. Meanwhile, the other clans tried to climb up and stop him.

"Loxin, you take the wyrm boy," a gigantic voice resounded as Cious Vrian spoke loudly to the leader of the Unique Claw Clan. No one would have guessed it, but the biggest threat in the entire competition hadn’t been the Golden Griffin Clan.

In fact, most of them were dead, thanks to Rengoku’s fire. The biggest threat had actually turned out to be Cious Vrian of the Titanium Giant Clan. Despite the heavenly fire from Rengoku, he had succeeded in killing several members of the Bloodrock Alliance.

That included members of the Blood Serpent Clan.

"No problem, just get me up there," Kia Loxin nodded. He couldn’t act like he trusted Cious because that was just not true. He feared him, though. This calm-looking giant had a very twisted mind, seeming to take pleasure in killing.

"Good boy, now give me your hand," Cious reached forward and grabbed Kia by the hand before thrusting him at Rengoku like a javelin.

—Woosh!

"Beast Actualization: Jaw Clawed Zyno." As he flew through the air at lightning speed, Kia Loxin activated his Beast Actualization, and a pair of claws, dyed green, appeared behind him and slashed down at Rengoku’s Actualization.

Kia was a very talented fighter, much more seasoned than Rengoku himself. Unfortunately, he wasn’t as talented in the pursuit of power, gaining him a Beast Actualization of the Nu tier.

Normally, this was enough in the grand scheme of things; after all, it was the tier of elders in most clans. But it wouldn’t do here, because he was up against actual monsters.

"I’d rather be put out of commission than mess with that evil shithead," Kia laughed bitterly as he swiped down repeatedly at Rengoku’s Actualization. He could at least hold Rengoku down for a few seconds before being shot down.

These few minutes would naturally allow the others to swarm the mountain together and face the Bloodrock Alliance head-on.

—Boom!

—Boom!

As they engaged the men of the Bloodrock Alliance, Cious easily cut through the battlefield like butter. His size was no limiting factor, but with a swing of his weapon, he could clear away anyone who stood before him.

In no time, he appeared in front of Kang and smiled.

"Don’t you think you’ve had enough, Kang? Why don’t you share?" Hovering above Kang, who was seated in a lotus position in front of a large mass of golden energy, Cious spoke mockingly.

Kang was at his weakest now. There was no better chance to kill the genius of the Blood Serpent Clan, forcing the alliance to dissolve.

"I didn’t recognize you before… but now it makes sense." Instead of replying to what Cious had just said, Kang proceeded to change the entire topic.

"Massive Ego, incredible agility, and a peculiar love for killing… you’ve fooled everyone, huh?" Kang asked.

He had initially thought he had never met Cious before this whole ordeal, but seeing the gradual change made him realize the truth. The way Cious had lured the members of the Golden Griffin Clan to their deaths by forming an alliance with them confirmed it.

The Titanium Giant Clan was never known for such attitudes towards life. This guy was an anomaly, and Kang had faced him before.

"So what? Does it even matter?" Cious asked.

"I guess it does not, but tell me, Thane, will your main body suffer if I kill this giant you’ve decided to control?" Kang spoke with utter confidence while looking at Cious intently.

Back on Griffin’s Peak, Kang hadn’t noticed it, but seeing that gradual change, it became very clear: the Golden Griffin Clan’s second Sky Sovereign had decided not to play fair. He had overtaken the mind of one of the participants to mess with Kang once more.

"Kill me? I knew all the praise behind that word ’divine’ would go to your head one day, Kang. Do you really think you can kill me with that much royal providence

"remaining?" Cious’s smile morphed into a horrid form, making him look more demon than human. The royal providence behind Kang was halfway absorbed, meaning Kang had done very well in such a short period of time. Even Thane, back then, couldn’t have done it. But the past was the past; what mattered now was that he was here to take the rest.

"What royal providence? You mean the empty shell behind me?" Kang tilted his head, causing Thane to frown and really inspect the ball of energy behind him. After a few seconds, he noticed no difference.

The royal providence was still there.

"Ready?" A head with blonde hair popped out from behind the orb and said.

"Ready!" Kang replied, and from out of nowhere, a formation circle came to life beneath him. In the next second, all the royal providence from behind was channeled through the formation directly into Kang’s body at an astounding speed.

"You’re crazy!!!" Thane was shocked. Kang was trying to absorb everything at once? Did he want to die? This was suicidal.

Of course, Thane had been forced to do the same ten years ago out of desperation, so he knew better than anyone what Kang was doing was unnecessarily risky.

"I won’t sacrifice essence for your craziness," Thane turned around to leave immediately, afraid of the incoming explosion.

"If I die, you must die with me." Unfortunately, Kang wouldn’t let that happen. Thane had pushed him to use his last resort, and if Kang was going to die, Thane would die with him.
