Magus Supremacy-Chapter 339: Kael the beast!
Chapter 339: Kael the beast!
Chapter 339
"Now would you call me weak?" Dave growled, his voice edged with defiance, his eyes locked on Kael.
Kael didn’t hesitate. He calmly lifted his index finger, pointing it toward the massive wolf that was still locked in combat with Lyra, Dante, and Max.
"To me?" Kael began with a smirk curling his lips. "You are still weak."
A concentrated bolt of lightning erupted from his fingertip, ripping through the air with a deafening crack. It tore a jagged path through the ground, leaving behind scorched earth as it rocketed toward the beast at breakneck speed.
"Move!" Max yelled, eyes widening as he spotted the incoming attack. Lyra and Dante obeyed instantly, leaping to either side to evade the arc of destruction, leaving the wolf directly in the bolt’s path.
Instead of dodging as expected, the wolf remained rooted, its crimson eyes gleaming with intelligence. It released twin beams of searing energy from its horns, intending to intercept the bolt.
But then, something unexpected happened.
The lightning bolt vanished midair, swallowed by a swirling shadow portal that suddenly materialized in front of it. The beast’s laser beams surged ahead—but now, dangerously off-course.
"Wait! Those beams are heading straight for us!" Arthur shouted, panic creeping into his voice.
"Did Kael forget we were standing here?!" Greg cried, his hands already glowing with lightning magic.
"Uhm, guys..." Scarlet said, her tone dry but tinged with urgency. "There’s this thing called ’run!’"
With that, she sprang aside. Greg wasted no time, activating a pair of lightning-infused boots and dashing away with speed-enhanced agility.
The rest of the spectators scrambled, just as the beams impacted with explosive force, carving a smoldering crater into the ground.
"That... was way too close," Vanica muttered, exhaling a shaky breath. She turned back to the battle, eyes narrowing.
Another shadow portal burst open beneath the beast’s feet—and out of it, the redirected lightning bolt re-emerged with deadly precision.
Sensing the danger, the wolf twisted and darted to the side, narrowly evading a direct hit. A searing arc grazed its flank, singeing fur and drawing a guttural snarl from its throat.
Awhooo!
The wolf raised its head and let out a howling cry—not of pain, but of mocking disdain, as if ridiculing the humans’ futile efforts.
Kael stepped forward.
"Have any of you witnessed a true high-octane mage battle?" he asked casually, his coat billowing dramatically in the rising winds.
"I’ve seen a few," Dante replied cautiously.
Kael smirked, then shed his coat, whipping it aside with flair. His expression darkened.
"Good. Because I’m about to elevate this fight to a whole different level," he said, his voice low and charged.
Thunder rumbled in the sky. The clouds churned, crackling with electric energy. Jagged bolts began streaking across the heavens like living serpents, converging ominously above Kael.
"And if you can’t keep up..."
His voice dropped to a whisper, now barely audible over the rising storm.
"Then break through."
A colossal bolt of lightning slammed down from the sky, striking Kael directly. The force of it should have incinerated him—but instead, the energy wrapped around him like armor.
A demonic mask flickered into existence over his face, casting a shadow over his eyes. Lightning-infused armor clung to his frame, pulsating with raw power.
Thunder rumbled in tandem with his heartbeat. Crackling boots formed around his feet, and in his hand materialized a long, glowing sword—a weapon forged from pure lightning.
He stood there, transformed.
A living storm, ready to unleash hell.
"Let me show you the power of a Lunaria Demonic Student," Kael said, his voice low, calm—yet charged with unshakable confidence.
Then—
BOOM!
The air rippled violently as if reality itself had cracked. The ground beneath Kael’s feet splintered open like glass under a hammer as he vanished, leaving only a pulse of residual lightning in his wake.
He didn’t move like lightning.
He was lightning.
The wolf’s crimson eyes flared in amusement. As if rising to meet a worthy rival, it grinned—fangs glinting—and launched forward at the same time.
BANG!
Both forces collided mid-arena in a thunderous explosion. A blinding flash followed by a seismic tremor shook the entire battlefield. Dust and debris exploded outward like a storm.
Buzz!
The wolf fired two searing laser beams, but Kael had already leapt high above. Arcs of pure electricity danced across his blade as he plummeted like a comet, his lightning sword slashing downward.
BOOM!
The wolf blurred just in time, the impact of Kael’s blade ripping through the ground and carving a scar deep into the arena floor. No time to admire it. The wolf lunged in retaliation, claws gleaming like sickles of death.
But Kael twisted midair, extended his free hand, and—
CRACK!
—unleashed a lightning bolt directly into the beast’s chest at point-blank range.
The wolf screeched as its body was hurled backward violently. Before it could even regain its balance mid-air—
A colossal lightning spear formed above the battlefield.
THOOM!
It descended with divine fury, crashing into the wolf like the wrath of a vengeful god. The impact blew apart the earth, creating a crater nearly seven meters deep.
Kael didn’t wait.
He shot forward again, now only a blur of electric wrath. The wolf responded with equal ferocity, and they clashed—again and again—blow for blow, their movements too fast for mortal eyes.
Thunderous shockwaves and dazzling bursts of elemental magic erupted with every collision, reducing the battlefield into a wasteland of ruin and craters.
To the others, it was a blur of motion and chaos.
"I... I can’t keep up..." Max muttered, his eyes wide with disbelief. "I thought I was fast with lightning magic... but Kael..."
He clenched his fists. "How the hell is he so far ahead of me when we use the same element?!"
"Probably because you’re too weak to be loved by the element," Kael replied mid-combat—without even looking his way.
Buzz!
Two more laser beams shot out from the wolf.
Fwoosh!
A vast shadow swallowed them whole—and then vanished.
Another thunderous crack resounded from above.
Everyone looked skyward—Kael was descending from the clouds like a god of storms. His lightning sword blazed with intensity, raised high, poised to sever the beast’s head from its shoulders.
BOOOOM!
The earth shook from the impact, sending out a shockwave that slammed into the bystanders. Dust and gales of wind surged at them, forcing everyone to shield their faces or risk being flung away.
Charlotte’s eyes widened as her hair whipped wildly in the storm of energy.
"I... I can’t believe it," she whispered. "There’s actually someone stronger than Grey..."
Arthur’s head snapped toward her. "Stronger than Grey?! Are you serious?"
"I mean, just look at him!" Charlotte exclaimed, gesturing at the figure in the lightning storm. "Kael hasn’t even broken through, hasn’t used a domain—yet he’s holding his own against a Level 16 beast! Can Grey do that?"
She turned, scanning the battlefield—and there he was: Grey, locked in fierce combat with the ogre, his power flaring brightly.
"Speaking of breakthroughs..." Max stepped forward slowly, his expression resolute as his gaze locked onto Kael’s fight. "Using this twice in one day... I’ll be stuck in bed for a week."
"Same," Dante added, a dry chuckle escaping his lips. Their hair began to float, lightning energy spiraling around their bodies.
Then, in perfect unison, they roared—
"Breakthrough!"
