"Lynch! Wake up, even if you have received the Eye of Insight, it doesn't mean you can save your father!" Caso raised his voice, shaking Lynch's shoulders as he shouted at him, "Before you, I had four apprentices who chose to accept this Eye of Insight. They all lost their desire for life within a year and ended their own lives! You're taking a huge risk."

"No, Master, I'm not taking a risk." Lynch's face was deathly pale, but he still wore a smile. "I've already read your journal and know about those mages who committed suicide before. I appreciate your concern, but I've long planned to acquire these eyes. However, I also read that you never give this ability to those who ask for the Eye of Insight. So, I'm sorry, Master, I also calculated against you."

"Lynch! How could you read my notes!"

"You actually know very well that I'm different from them, I'm stronger than all of them." Lynch said slowly, "Master, I know when I proposed using the Eye of Insight, your heart was filled with conflict and pain. But for me, this is the only path at the moment. As you said, the future me will have no dreams, so let me keep this last dream now. That is enough for me."

Caso's angry expression gradually softened, finally turning into a kind and compassionate look. He himself had been bearing the Eye of Insight for many years and was the only mage who survived after gaining this ability. This was entirely due to his status as a Prophet Master. Caso could foresee the future early on, and this ability became more proficient after he became a Great Mage. For a specialized mage like him, the dreams for the future had vanished long ago when he cast foreknowledge spells. Long before obtaining the Eye of Insight, he got used to a life without fantasies. But even so, these eyes continued to torment him.

Prophetic Mages still had time to rest, and their dreams could still be vivid; but those who obtained the Eye of Insight could never be freed from this state. Caso began to regret making this suggestion, but he couldn't persuade Lynch at all. Neither Caso's prophecy magic nor his rationality could convince him that Lynch could give up the ability of the Eye of Insight.

After a full three days of spellcasting, Lynch discarded his fleshly eyes and gained his current ability.

Then, the fragments of this memory ended.

The Magic God was slightly taken aback, and he still remained in a trance. The story extracted from Lynch's mind was incomplete, clearly forcefully expelled by an external force.

The Magic God cocked his head, his eyes fixed intently on the lifeless Lynch. "Is it him? How would he still have strength?" No matter how he looked, the young mage showed no signs of still being alive—no breath, no heartbeat. "In any case, this must be your final struggle, right? But it's already enough, Lynch, I know how to achieve victory."

Dragging his equally battered body, the Magic God slowly approached Lynch. He opened his remaining hand, drawing a complex rune in the air. He devoted all his energy into completing this magic, leaving almost no reserves. It was a spell created specifically for Lynch, a eulogy made just for him.

The Magic God focused intently, not daring to make a single mistake. Once this magic began, there was no turning back. It would directly act on Lynch's mind, freeing him from his stubborn mental state and reversing the effect of the Eye of Insight. When Lynch regained the ability to dream, the solid fortress he constructed around his soul would vanish. By then, the Magic God would have countless ways to persuade Lynch, to make his will succumb before him.

A smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Lynch's mouth also curved into a smile.

The Magic God's eyes widened, almost falling out of their sockets. His entire body trembled, unable to accept the fact before him: Lynch, swaying, slowly lifted his head. Though the movement was still incredibly weak, any force—even a gentle breeze—could knock him down, yet he tenaciously and stubbornly regained consciousness.
