Madam's Awakening Shocks The Whole World-Chapter 667 - 242: Feng Bai’s Counterattack_7
Chapter 667: Chapter 242: Feng Bai’s Counterattack_7
Steward Ming nodded and, after Li Jingmo left, headed towards Jingmo’s room, where Feng Bai was sitting on the sofa, looking utterly clueless. She had no idea what she did to provoke Li Jingmo; he just showed her a stern face.
"Hey, Feng Bai, what did you do to upset Master Li again? No matter how much Master Li likes you, you can’t overstep your bounds and keep making him angry!"
Steward Ming said earnestly. When Master Li was angry, they, the servants, had to be extremely careful in their service, for fear that a single misstep would set him off.
"I didn’t, I don’t know why he would be angry? Could it be menopause."
She wasn’t even sure what menopause was; she’d only overheard one of the maids telling another one that when it hits, you get angry out of nowhere. Maybe Li Jingmo was going through menopause too.
"Pfft..." Steward Ming almost spat blood. Menopause? Only Feng Bai could say something so absurd.
"Are you an idiot? How could Master Li have menopause!"
"Really? But why else would he get angry without reason?" Feng Bai looked at Steward Ming with confusion, wanting to understand why he was angry.
"Master Li is the master, and we are servants; he doesn’t need a reason to be angry. Get up quickly; Master Li wants you to serve him during his meal."
Steward Ming was utterly speechless about Feng Bai. Sometimes talking to her felt like talking to a wall, as if she lived in a world without people. But how could that be possible?
"Serve his meal? Can’t he do it himself?"
Steward Ming was exasperated, incredibly so, his teeth gritted as he looked at Feng Bai, "Yes, he can, but you must go and serve, no questions asked."
The vast dining table was set with a sumptuous dinner, and Li Jingmo sat alone at the long table with more than a dozen exquisite dishes before him.
There was roast chicken that was fragrant and crisp, spicy and fresh fish, shrimp, crab...
Feng Bai stood to one side, her eyes wide and mouth watering.
In the past few days, she had eaten with the maids, and although the food was not bad, it was incomparable to what was in front of her now.
Enviously looking at Li Jingmo seated at the table, Jingmo’s gaze also settled on Feng Bai, taking in her eager appearance, which significantly diminished his anger. Seeing her awkwardness, he was delighted.
"Aren’t you going to serve the dishes quickly?"
Li Jingmo’s cool voice rang out, and Feng Bai uttered an "Oh," struggling to take her eyes off the food.
She then carelessly picked a shrimp for Li Jingmo and placed it on his plate.
Steward Ming held his forehead in anguish. Was he coming down with a cold? Should he take a leave? Why did he get a headache every time he saw Feng Bai? Was it a clash of personalities?
My goodness, girl, can’t you pay a bit more attention? You put the shrimp in Master Li’s plate without even peeling it.
Li Jingmo’s face was stern, "That’s it?!"
"Huh, then how do you want it?"
Feng Bai looked at Li Jingmo innocently. Wasn’t having shrimp to eat enough?
A vein was throbbing on Li Jingmo’s forehead as he nearly exploded with irritation.
"Has no one ever told you to ask the master what he’d like before serving the dishes? And even if you don’t ask, can’t you read the room?"
Feng Bai was simply a disgraced maid.
"Is it really necessary? How should I know? No one has ever taught me."
Steward Ming looked heavenward, clutching his forehead, while Li Jingmo glared coldly at Feng Bai, "Do you understand now?!"
"I understand now!"
"Knowing that, why aren’t you peeling the shrimp for me?"
"Oh!" Feng Bai stepped forward to grab a shrimp, but Steward Ming stopped her and made her wear gloves before she could peel shrimp for Master Li.
Feng Bai grumbled to herself, thinking that Li Jingmo was such a hassle.
With the gloves on, Feng Bai peeled the shrimp one by one, her saliva almost drooling out. She was so hungry. Seeing all the delicious food she couldn’t eat made her even hungrier.
She felt Li Jingmo was doing it on purpose, deliberately letting her watch all the delicious food without allowing her to eat. She wanted to take back her words that he was a good person.
Li Jingmo watched her mutter silently and smirked, "Cursing me in your heart?"
"How did you know?" Feng Bai covered her mouth after speaking and looked at Li Jingmo’s darkening expression.
There was a slap as Li Jingmo threw his chopsticks on the table.
His handsome face looked so grim it seemed like it could drip ink.
"You’re forbidden to eat tonight!"
At night, Feng Bai sat in her tiny room, covering her rumbling stomach, "Damn Li Jingmo, he’s too cruel."
She had been punished by Li Jingmo in the evening, not allowed to have dinner. She was so hungry that she couldn’t even sleep.
Glancing at the clock hanging on the wall, she saw it was midnight. At this time, all the servants in the villa were asleep. She wanted to sneak out to find something to eat.
No sooner said than done, Feng Bai crept out, curling her body to listen to the noises outside. Sensing no movement, she left her room.
Then she groped towards the kitchen, hoping to find something to eat. Sadly, the chef had cleaned up very well. Apart from a few leftover tomatoes in the refrigerator, there was nothing else to eat. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Holding the tomatoes with pain, Feng Bai mumbled to herself, cursing Li Jingmo in her heart for his cruelty.
"What are you doing?" A deep voice echoed in the darkness.
Startled, Feng Bai dropped the tomatoes from her hands. She tried to run but tripped over a tomato and plunged forward into a broad, strong chest.
Li Jingmo, feeling the soft and fragrant Feng Bai in his arms, subtly clasped her slender waist.
Feng Bai, still in shock, pushed away Li Jingmo, "Why did you scare me like that? Don’t you know you could scare someone to death?"
Her heart was still pounding fiercely. It was so unsettling she almost felt like she could die of fright.
"You’re lurking around here, of course, I’m going to ask you. And now you’re questioning me in return?"
"Isn’t it true? You scared me; I almost fell over."
Her foot seemed to be sprained; it hurt so much.
"Do you know what happens to servants who steal? And I’ve just caught you red-handed."
His low, icy voice scared Feng Bai, causing her face to pale, "What... what happens?"
"Flayed and skinned, hung outside the villa for three days and nights."
His threatening tone turned Feng Bai’s face even paler, and she started to cry out loud.
"Wuwu, flayed and skinned, all I did was get hungry and wanted to find something to eat. Why flayed and skinned? Li Jingmo, you’re just a..."
Having just arrived in this world, Feng Bai’s vocabulary was limited. She didn’t even know how to insult Li Jingmo properly and just stood there, crying her eyes out.
