When Liu Changqing told Wu Yu that he wanted to talk to his girlfriend in person, Wu Yu’s face lit up with excitement. He pointed toward the door.

"My girlfriend is waiting outside the office right now. She just dropped off the artwork!"

"Oh? Then let her in."

"Got it, boss!"

Wu Yu responded enthusiastically and dashed out. A moment later, he knocked on the door before stepping back in, followed by a casually dressed young woman.

From Liu Changqing’s perspective, her looks weren’t stunning, but she was at least above average—even without any makeup.

Maybe it was his scrutinizing gaze that made Qi Hang a little nervous. Standing next to her boyfriend, she barely dared to speak above a whisper.

"H-Hello…"

"What’s your name?"

"Qi Hang… You can just call me Hang Hang…"

"Alright, Miss Qi, please have a seat."

As soon as Liu Changqing said this, Wu Yu quickly pulled out a chair for his girlfriend and helped her sit down.

Then, he looked at Liu Changqing and said, "Well… I’ll go back to work then."

"Uh… Sure, go ahead."

With Liu Changqing’s approval, Wu Yu left happily, even thoughtfully closing the door behind him to give them a private conversation.

But his departure only made Qi Hang even more nervous.

She sat stiffly, fists clenched on her lap, arms rigid, and head slightly lowered. It was obvious she had very little experience dealing with people in a professional setting—pretty much like that silly boyfriend of hers.

To ease her tension, Liu Changqing put on what he thought was a friendly smile and picked up the artwork from the table.

But before he could even say a word, Qi Hang suddenly stammered,

"M-Mr. Liu, y-you’re not going to… you know… take advantage of me, right? I-I’m not even that pretty…"

"…"

Liu Changqing’s smile froze.

He stared at her worried expression, completely speechless.

Outside the office.

Wu Yu hadn’t actually gone back to work. Instead, he stood by the door, practically playing the role of a security guard, unable to hide the joy on his face.

Just as Feng Qian walked in from outside, he noticed Wu Yu standing there grinning like an idiot. Originally heading back to his own office, Feng Qian paused and walked up to him, frowning slightly in confusion.

"What are you doing standing here?"

"My girlfriend is inside."

Keeping his voice low as if afraid of disturbing the people inside, Wu Yu explained, "She’s in there with Boss Liu."

"Your girlfriend is inside? And Old Liu is with her?"

"Yep!"

"…"

Feng Qian sighed.

"Just get back to work. I’ll go in and take a look."

"Alright!"

After responding, Wu Yu happily jogged off.

Feng Qian watched the silly guy’s back disappear before shaking his head and pushing open the door.

Inside, he saw the young woman’s back as she signed the contract.

Liu Changqing also noticed Feng Qian entering, but he didn’t say much—just nodded in acknowledgment. Once Qi Hang finished signing, he stood up and extended his hand.

"Miss Qi, I look forward to working with you."

"Thank you so much!"

She eagerly shook his hand, her voice a little higher in pitch from excitement.

After a few quick shakes, Liu Changqing subtly withdrew his hand.

Qi Hang, too caught up in her gratitude, didn’t even notice. She exchanged a few more polite words with him before stepping past Feng Qian and heading out the door.

Feng Qian turned to watch her leave. He only spoke once she was completely out of sight.

"You sealed the deal?"

"Yeah. The pay isn’t high, but for her skill level, it’s fair. Those two kids are just starting out—it’s good to give them a little help."

Feng Qian smirked.

"You really are a good guy."

Hearing Feng Qian’s comment, Liu Changqing chuckled and pulled a tissue from the desk, wiping the lingering sweat from his palm.

"That girl was way too nervous. Her hand was drenched in sweat…"

Feng Qian laughed along and dragged a chair over, sitting down as he casually flipped through the artwork in front of Liu Changqing.

"That’s just how fresh graduates are. Weren’t you the same?"

"Me?"

Liu Changqing tossed the crumpled tissue into the trash, then leaned back in his chair.

After thinking for a moment, he shrugged.

"I wasn’t really nervous when I first started interviewing. The way I saw it, the company needed employees, and I needed a job. It wasn’t some superior-subordinate relationship. If one place didn’t work out, I’d just move on to another."

"That mindset of yours…"

"It’s not exactly normal, right? Hahaha!"

Laughing, Liu Changqing tilted his head slightly, gazing out the window.

The weather was nice today.

He let out a long breath.

The sound of Feng Qian flipping through the sketches filled the room. As if speaking to himself, Liu Changqing suddenly murmured,

"Things change when you get older. Once you have a family… you can’t afford to be as reckless as you were when you were young."

The flipping of pages stopped.

Feng Qian froze for a moment before looking up at him.

The smile had faded from Liu Changqing’s face. He leaned back in his chair, his head still turned toward the window.

His eyes… seemed lost in thought.

After school, Liu Changqing picked up both children.

After dropping Feng Shuyan off with Feng Qian, he drove his daughter to the address An Yuanyao had texted him.

Taking the elevator up, he held his daughter’s small hand, searching for the right place.

Finally, he found it.

Pushing open the glass door, he saw the spacious dance studio—and An Yuanyao stretching her legs.

He froze for a moment.

Dressed in a fitted black dance outfit, her figure was perfectly accentuated.

"Aunt An!"

Slipping free from her father’s hand, Liu Xiazhi excitedly ran over. It had been a while since she last visited the studio.

Liu Changqing lingered at the entrance, glancing around.

"Should I… take off my shoes?"

"Yeah, just keep your socks on," An Yuanyao replied.

Hearing that, Liu Changqing immediately turned to his daughter.

"Take off your shoes, quick!"

"Okay!"

Once Xiazhi had taken off her shoes, Liu Changqing picked them up and placed them to the side.

He looked around the empty studio.

"No one else here?"

"They had some things to do and left."

"So you’ve got the whole place to yourself? Damn, rich lady move."

"Can you stop saying weird things?"

"Alright, alright, my bad…"

After a few playful remarks, Liu Changqing settled down. It was his first time in a dance studio, but once the novelty wore off, he found it rather boring.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, he watched as An Yuanyao helped his daughter change into a dance outfit and warm up.

After a while, he asked,

"How long are you guys practicing?"

"It’s been a while since Xiazhi danced. I’ll help her get back into it… maybe two or three hours?"

Watching them practice, Liu Changqing felt like an invisible man—completely unnecessary here.

Zoning out for a bit, he eventually stood up and walked toward the door.

"I’m going downstairs for some air."

"Mm."
