Lucifer's Descendant System-Chapter 337: 337 - Adverse Effects
"I think we should all have a toast!" she said, signing Bel who was watching from afar to come closer.
The boy slowy made its way towards the, seemingly consciouso of something. "Bel, is everything okay?" Noah asked, turning back to the boy.
"It's just, can I join?" the boy asked, feeling left out.
"Of course you can. We are familty, remember?" Noah reassured him, putting his arms out for the boy to hug him.
"Thanks," softly, Bel thanked him, as he smiled towards Maggie. Noah atched the two kids' ploy with warmth, while Lilith did so without putting her mind to it.
"The toast, the toast!" Maggie spoke loudly, calling Noah's attention.
Noah grabbed a few essence, handing one to each person and snake.
"For Noah who has been taking care of us all, cheers!" Carlos heaed the toast, as all heartfully ate the Essence given to them.
"Uah! I haven't had one of this since hell! It feels great," Bel said alout, thanking Noah with his eyes as he pulled the sleeve of his shirt down.
"Let's Gooo!" Carlos cheered as he felt the power surge within, staring down at the small pile of Essence Noah had given him.
"Noah, can I really have all of this?" Maggie asked, oggling the more than 150 essence still left in the bag.
"Yup. Make sure to use it all," Noah told her while smiling, not realizing the crazed glint in his small sister's eyes.
"Noah, is there any side effects to eating a lot of essence at once?" Lilith asked, makning him turntowards her, thinking about whether he ever heard of such a thing.
"Not that I know of, but if you misuse the extra strength it could hurt a little. Why?" Noah was slightly confused, but guessed it had something to do with Maggie."
"Nothing really... It's just that she's downing them so fast that if it were food she would de getting a hell of a heartburn..." Lilith's words made him turn arond, to see Maggie swallowing Essence after Essence with incredible skill.
'I hope she's not getting addicted to it,' Noah thoght, realizing she had already swallowed up about twenty Essence in a matter of seconds.
"Noah! I feel so strong, this is awesome," the girl giggled as she enjoyed the feeling of revigoration, that made her feel like she could do anything. Noah understood it clearly since it was his idea all along. And he happily watched as his one weak sister became stronger than a normal person in a minute's time.
'I guess you did it, didn't you,' Lilith told him, landing her head on his lap.
'Finally, right? I can barely believe I managed to get her this well,' he told her, tears starting to form in the corner of his eyes as he stared at his healthy sister. 'And it's all thanks to Lucifer... I can barely believe he chose me.'
'I don't know for sure why he chose you, but you deserve it,' Liltih relaxed, as she enjoyed this humane side of Noah she seldom could see.
At the same time, Bel watched the to with arm eyes, as a feeling of nostalgia watched him over, seeing Noah and Lilith sitting together. 'Is good to see them together like this again,' he thought, unaware he was already considering those two as the people he held dear.
"Burp!" Noah turned around, as he heard the uncaracteristic sound. Maggie had a hand on her mouth, fushing from the burping. "Sorry," she apologized, sheepishly, a pile of empty vials of Essence in front of her.
"Did you already...?" Noah asked, half baffled.
"Yup!" she exclaimed, full of energy, before pushing the chair away and stading up. "I feel ama—Ouch!" she houled as she held her knee after jumping.
"Hey! Are you okay?" Noah quickly stood up, putting his hand out to help his sister who was on the floor holding her knee.
"Yeah... I think I hurt my knee somehow," she answered, holding his hand as she tried to stand.
'Damn it! What the heck is with this grip strength?!' Noah thought, as he felt his fingers creak as she pulling his hand. "Maggie, are you doing this on purpose?" he asked, staring at his hand in awe.
"On purpose?" she retorted back with the same question, confused, until she stared at her hand, and Noah's reddened fingers. "Oh my god! Sorry, I had no idea!" she embarassingly apologized, realizing she was using far too much strength to hold his hand, before doubting herself, "But how did I hold your hand like this?" she asked, not yet fully grasping the effects of the Essence she'd just taken.
"You realize you just absorbed over a hundred essence, right?" Bel rolled his eyes, sitting on the armchair by the sofa. "You're probably at least twice as strong as a grown up man... Maybe stronger than a weak E Rank Blessed," he told her the facts, which left her completely baffled. Bel waited for someone to say something else, but since nobody said a word, he then continued, "You probably have too much strenght for your joints, so be careful for now instead of using it all randomly. You just tripled your strenght, you're not used to it."
"We should probably have her train with the Imps for a few days, so that she can grasp her new strength and not hurt herself," Carlos told Noah, as he walked closer to them from the other side of the living room.
"It´s about time we train her so she can go into the Fortresses with us as soon as she turns 16," Noah agreed, thinking that the healing imp would be enough to keep her safe. Noah's words also made Maggie grin broadly, her eyes shining at the possibility of fighting alongside him in the future.
"So it's decided, I'll get the imps and a place to train later so she can have some fun. By the way, Noah, what are you gonna do now? Have you eaten yet?" Carlos cut off the topic, parting unto another, as he realized Noah and Lilith had arrived just after lunch time.
"To be honest, we haven't yet," Noah shrugged, not really hungry. In fact, all he could think of was getting a few hours of sleep for the rest of the day.
"I can get the guys in the kitchen to prepare you something, you even gave me essence, I need to pay you back somehow," Carlos insisted, worrying about his friend.
"In that case, I'll take your offer, but can we make it a fancy dinner tonight? I honestly just wanna close my eyes for a little bit now." Smiling at Carlos' generosity, Noah struck a deal that would allow him to rest while he took care of the training together with Bel and Lilith. 'Now I can sleep...' he thought.
'Don't even think of leaving me behind for this one, I'm completely exhausted,' Lilith said in his mind, staring at his back from the sofa she was still coiled on.
'All ready then. You can rest with me for a while, just make sure you don't squash me this time,' he answered her in a positive but deeply sarcastic tone, but getting what she wanted, the snake didn't even care.
"I'll be going now. You guys can stay with Carlos for the rest of the day, I'll spend more time with you at dinner," Noah said, before backing off to the sofa to catch Lilith, before setting off to his room.
"So, what are we gonna do next, millionaire?" Lilith asked him, as the two walked towards the room he was using.
"I'll probably get myself a house in the capital for me and Maggie. I don't want a fancy mansior or anything, just somewhere comfortable for Maggie to rest.
"Why don't you get yourself a mansion so you have the training grounds and everything at home already?" she asked, thinking about the possibility of him getting himself a castle suitable for Lucifer's descendant.
"Maintenance would be hell, and we can always use the Khan Family's facilities for those. Actually, I plan on getting Maggie into valorwatch, so she can train without being in danger," he answered her in easily understandable reasons, making the snake sigh at his lack of desire.
"You know, sometimes it feels you only have a soul when it comes to your sister. You have no desire, or greed, or anything like that... Are you sure you are a human? This kind of unique mind and obsession feels more like that of a—"
"A demon, right?" Noah interrupted her as they reached his room. "Wasn't that what you were gonna say?" he asked, putting the snake down onto the bed, before starting to take off his clothes to sleep more comfortably.
"Yeah... It feels like, if it's for her, you would make the whole world your enemy," she said as she watched him get ready to lay down, her heart fluttering.
"For those I love, I would take on even the gods if I had to, that's just my way of living. My family is everything to me, and that also includes you," he said, as he sat down on the bed by her side. "I´ll close my eyes for a bit now, please rest aswell," he told the dumbstruck and silent snake, as he laid down, putting an arm over his eyes and quickly falling to bed. The snake still silently coiled on the bed right next to his feet.
'He said he would take on the gods for me, oh my!' Lilith thought to herself. If she were a person, her face would've been dyed complete crimson, and her hands would be pressing against her cheeks. Not that the sleepy Noah would've noticed it.
