Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 681: Arielle’s Decision
"You deserve to die indeed," Ronan replied casually, making Arielle, Romario, and Sir Fergusson gasp.
"Destroying the hopes of a child, corning her, and forgetting who you were talking to? Romario, if it weren’t for your father who has contributed a lot to the academics of this kingdom, I might have taken out my sword by now."
"You-Your Majesty!!!! I beg your forgiveness!!!" Romario screamed again, making William smile with satisfaction.
Ronan tilted his head in confusion.
"So, what exactly are you asking for? Do you ask to be sentenced to death, or do you want forgiveness?" Ronan asked calmly. It made William hold back his giggles. Aimee pinched the man not to laugh at such a tense and important situation like this.
Arielle wanted to tell her husband not to intimidate Romario too much. Given the man’s battered face, it was likely that he had gotten what he deserved. There was no need to sentence someone to death for this. As long as there was another way to solve the problem, the death penalty wasn’t needed.
Arielle just wanted Irene to study passionately and comfortably. She didn’t want the child to hear this. It would make her sad and weigh on her mind even more. It wouldn’t be good for her mental state either.
"Forgive me, Your Majesty! I have made a grievous mistake!" Romario shouted while clapping his palms together, begging for mercy.
"Mr. Romario," Arielle called with a soft yet firm voice.
Ronan, Aimee, as well as William who were sitting nearby, immediately turned towards the queen, while Arielle asked Ronan for permission to have a talk with Romario.
"I will forgive you, as long as... you apologize to Princess Irene in person. You have broken the princess’ passion for studying. You should at least be responsible for apologizing to her in person. You did nothing wrong to us."
"But-"
William wanted to interrupt, but Ronan raised his hand, telling the man not to interfere for a moment. He wanted to know how his wife would solve this problem. Whatever Arielle’s decision was, he would follow it.
"I’ve heard everything. You belittled our bond with Princess Irene and even accused us of neglecting Princess Irene’s education. Perhaps that is how it looks from an outsider like you, but we have reasonable reasons that we can’t share with others. Even though we are members of a royal family, which should be an example for others, we are also humans who need privacy and not everything can or has to be shared with the public. I hope you can understand that."
"Your Highness ..."
"I really don’t feel offended because I know a misunderstanding could happen anytime, especially if people hear that Princess Irene has only been studying for the past month. And once again, we have reasons that we cannot share publicly. It’s for the sake of protecting our family," said Arielle.
Ronan looked at his wife proudly. His heart was pounding hard. Did he fall in love much deeper after seeing the firmness and kindness of his wife? Really, in Ronan’s head before, he had prepared various kinds of punishments that could make the person suffer greatly until he felt like not wanting to live again.
However, what Arielle had said really touched him.
Romario cried in his place. Again, he begged for forgiveness for his awful attitude. He had learned a lot and promised not to do it again. Ronan agreed not to physically punish Romario because judging by the blood dried on the man’s face and one of his broken fingers, Ronan thought that Romario had enough from William.
"Mr. Ferguson. I want you to return to the academy again and report to me what has happened there for the past few years after you retired. Only for a few weeks because I will prepare someone to replace Romario as well as the less competent people there."
Mr. Ferguson Altez nodded in agreement. "I will carry out your task, Your Majesty," he replied politely.
"And for Mrs. Churchill, I want to know why you, as the headmistress, got completely out of hand. If this happens again, I will contact all members of the sponsorship to discuss whether the academy will become a public school or private school," said Ronan.
Mrs. Churchill bowed down deeply. "I understand, Your Majesty. I’m sorry for my inability to manage the academy properly."
"And since Princess Irene is resting now, you can come back tomorrow to apologize to her in person. Also, before coming back here, treat your face first. I don’t want my sister to be even more traumatized by seeing your face. Mr. Ferguson, you don’t have to come. Thank you for being such a wonderful teacher to Princess Irene."
"I still have many flaws, Your Majesty," replied Mr Ferguson politely.
Ronan ended the meeting and invited Arielle to return and have a rest. Meanwhile, Romario hadn’t got up as William was still sitting in his place. His eyes glared at the man, like a beast prying on its prey.
Mrs. Churchill touched something that she had not yet given to the king. The old woman left her seat and ran hurriedly towards the door. Arriving in the hallway, she turned left and right to find the king.
In the right hallway, the king and queen walked together with two guards behind them.
"Your Majesty!" called Mrs. Churchill in a very hoarse voice.
Ronan and Arielle immediately turned around and found Mrs. Churchill running up to them. The two guards who saw the woman raised their staff, stopping Mrs. Churchill from approaching the king and queen.
"Mrs. Churchill? What’s wrong?" Arielle asked as she told the two guards to lower their staff.
"I-I haven’t had time to give this to you yet."
Mrs. Churchill took out a wax-sealed white envelope. The woman held out the letter to Ronan. Ronan then took it carefully. He opened the letter with the small dagger on his waist and read it on the spot.
