Chapter 112: Chapter 62 Holiday Routine_2

Why does this free-spirited personality seem so familiar...

From the security checkpoint to the subway, Su Wan walked alongside him, all the while thinking about how to secretly slip the money back into his big coat pocket at a chance.

The two found a seat and hadn’t been sitting long before the subway started moving slowly. Soon, the sound of the subway speeding through the air filled their ears.

The old man sat at the edge, holding the handrail, and asked with a smile, "Young lady, which station are you going to?"

Su Wan: "The same station as you."

The old man’s eyes lit up with delight, "Well, what a coincidence."

Su Wan couldn’t help but glance at the old man’s slightly trembling feet on the seat, furrowing her brows ever so slightly, and asked, "Why are you out alone if you’re not in good health? Where’s your family?"

"My family isn’t here. I came to Yi City to visit my old friend on Pinghe Road. I just returned to the country yesterday, and neither my son nor grandson knows I’m here." He patted his leg bones, "The weather is nice today, so I thought I’d take a walk. My legs have been weak, and if I don’t walk more now, I’ll end up in a wheelchair sooner or later."

Su Wan covered her mouth with a gentle smile and suggested, "You could see a Chinese doctor for treatment."

The old man waved his hand, "Oh, I’m almost in my grave, what doctor do I need to see? As long as I get to see my grandson get married and hold my great-grandchild, I’m happy." Speaking of his family, he suddenly beamed with joy and began to talk, "My grandson is very successful. Recently, I heard he has a girlfriend, which makes me very happy."

Su Wan listened quietly, and seeing his face glowing with happiness made her happy for him too, "Congratulations."

The old man asked again, "Hey young lady, do you have a boyfriend?"

Su Wan paused, then nodded.

"Oh, then your boyfriend is very lucky," the old man grinned, his weathered forehead wrinkles smoothing out, and his squinted eyes looking like crescent moons.

Su Wan felt a bit embarrassed by the compliment, lowered her eyes slightly, and just smiled without saying anything.

After scanning the ticket to exit, Su Wan assisted him onto the escalator. She checked the time on her wrist, 11:30 a.m.

The ringtone of an old cellphone suddenly rang. The old man leisurely took out a somewhat aged Nokia, squinted to check the contact, and then answered it.

The voice on the other end spoke urgently, but Su Wan couldn’t hear what was said. She only saw the old man smiling calmly and saying, "Alright, just drive directly to Grandpa Weng’s store and wait for me there." Then he hung up.

Once they exited the station, Su Wan asked, "Grandpa, which direction is your friend’s house?"

The old man was now too embarrassed to trouble her further, and quickly pointed ahead to a nearby music store, "That’s the music store my old friend owns."

Su Wan glanced at the familiar music store ahead and was surprised, "You’re friends with Grandpa Weng?"

The old man raised his eyebrows with surprise, "You know Old Weng too?"

Su Wan answered with a "Hmm," "You could say I’m a regular of Grandpa Weng’s."

"What a coincidence," the two of them walked a few steps forward, and the old man asked again, "So are you going to his store too?"

Su Wan shook her head with a smile, "Not right now, my family is waiting for me to have lunch. My home is just ahead in the Xinhu District, I’ll just walk you there along the way."

The old man: "Thank you for your trouble."

When they reached the music store, a black car was parked on a temporary lane five meters from the bus stop sign. Su Wan glanced at it, and the old man pointed to the car, stopped, and gratefully patted Su Wan’s shoulder, "Young lady, thank you so much for today. My family has just arrived. You should head home now, I’ve taken up too much of your time."

Su Wan glanced at the black Phaeton, not surprised by what seemed to be the old man’s affluent background.

The car door on the driver’s side happened to open, and a well-dressed man got out. Too far away to clearly see his face, she nodded slightly and prepared to leave, "Then I’ll head home first, Grandpa. Be careful on the road."

"Alright, you too, be careful on the road."

As Vincent walked over, he heard the old man happily mumbling, "These days, there aren’t many young ladies who are both pretty and kind-hearted! Truly a good girl."

"Chairman." Vincent called out, his eyes following the old man’s gaze, and he was startled, "Isn’t that Miss Su?"

The old man didn’t hear what the person next to him said, turned around, put his frostbitten hands back into his pockets, and asked, "What did you say?"

His wrinkled hand unexpectedly felt something cool in his pocket. Fu Quan realized it, pinched the hard paper, and pulled it out of his pocket.

"It’s Miss Su Wan," Vincent explained with a smile, "She’s the girlfriend Mr. Fu mentioned to you."

Fu Quan was stunned, staring at the crumpled red note placed in his pocket at some unknown time. It took him a while to come back to his senses from Vincent’s words and looked again at the distant graceful figure walking away. He burst out laughing, his voice full of vigor as he praised, "Blessed, our little Heng is truly blessed!"

On the way home, Su Wan received a call from Fu Weiheng.

A gentle voice from the other end, "Have you eaten yet?"

Su Wan noticed a poster on a billboard not far away, the figure holding a cello, petite and elegant. She walked over and said, "Not yet, on my way home."

Fu Weiheng, puzzled: "Why aren’t you home yet?"

Su Wan thought of the elderly man with difficulty walking, "I got delayed on the way. What about you? Have you eaten?"

Fu Weiheng: "Not yet."

The call fell silent for a moment. Standing before the billboard, Su Wan reached out with her index finger and pressed on He Youyou’s slightly smiling poster, suddenly saying, "Neil, she likes you."

Fu Weiheng didn’t quite understand, "Hmm?"

"He Youyou," her soft voice tinged with a slight, faintly sour undertone, "She likes you a lot." I can tell.

"Wanwan..." His low voice carried a touch of warmth, reaching into the deepest part of her heart, making her feel as soft as a puddle—

"I love you."

Time flew by, and soon it was New Year’s Eve.

Early that day, the family sat in the new Land Rover Qin Yan had bought a couple of days ago and headed to the market to buy groceries.

Mr. Qin sat in the front passenger seat, feeling around and praising repeatedly, "It’s so comfortable to sit in a big car."

In the backseat, Qin Mu leisurely crossed her legs, heaving a sigh, "Finally no more of Mr. Qin’s old Toyota..."

Su Yue unceremoniously knocked on Qin Mu’s head, scolding, "You brat, your dad’s Toyota took you everywhere from when you were little, and this is how you repay it?"

Qin Mu covered her head, her attitude making a complete 180-degree turn, "Mr. Qin’s Toyota is the best!"

Both Mr. Qin and Su Yue couldn’t help but laugh.

Su Wan glanced at Qin Yan, who was driving in front, casually asking, "Brother, are you not returning to the United States?"

Qin Yan replied in a low "Hmm," "Not returning for now."

Su Yue finally breathed a sigh of relief, relieved that their son, who had been away from home for many years, was back, and at least, from now on, there would be no more long separations.

A WeChat message came in from Fu Weiheng. Su Wan unlocked it and opened it—

Neil: "What are you doing?"

Swan: "Going to the market to buy groceries for tonight’s New Year’s Eve dinner. What about you?"

Neil: "Hmm, thinking of you."

Su Wan couldn’t help but blush slightly at his teasing, replying, "Are you having New Year’s Eve dinner at home too?"

Neil: "Grandpa’s back, we’re going to a restaurant."

Swan: "...Oh"

About two minutes later, her phone vibrated again—

Neil: "When are you coming back?"

Swan: "Probably after the eighth day..."

Neil: "Wanwan."

Swan: "Hmm?" freёnovelkiss-com

Neil: "Come back soon."
