Love letters are not allowed in the exorcism notebook!-Chapter 145: Bloody and brutal street fighting
In those days, high-rise buildings had virtually no awareness of fire safety, and there was only one staircase for going up and down.
If there hadn’t been any major safety incidents that sparked public outcry and led to government intervention with mandatory policies, then real estate developers and construction companies would definitely save money where they could, without spending a dime on these "insignificant issues."
Having just one staircase meant it was easy to defend but difficult to attack.
Even during World War II, when the German Army attacked Stalingrad, it took a lot of effort to fight the Soviet Army for a single building.
And now it was even more so...
Wang Yunxiao taking point at the stairwell, held the Liuyun rifle with the barrel aimed down the staircase. A Bloodthirsty Hound had barely shown its head before he blew it away.
"Change guns!"
He tossed the empty gun with spent bullets to Matuan beside him and took the loaded one in his hand. Seeing that the other side seemed frightened by that shot, too scared to continue rushing up, he boldly made his way downstairs.
The moment he spotted a shadow, he raised his hand and fired another shot.
Honestly, such a long gun was ill-suited for the constrained space of a narrow stairwell, it was cumbersome to use. A shotgun would have been much more appropriate, but unfortunately, Wang Yunxiao didn’t have one. However, the Liuyun Rifle had one advantage—if you were accurate, your target was truly dead.
There was no room for error or discount.
The human immune system wasn’t inherently strong; it had to accumulate experience through repeated defense and counterattacks to gradually grow and strengthen.
Flowers from the greenhouse can’t withstand the harsh winds and rain outside.
For demons and monsters who were accustomed to thinking "mere mortal firearms are nothing special," the bullets fired from the Liuyun Rifle inflicted damage far beyond their expectations.
They dealt true damage!
However, the opponents weren’t just any common riffraff; those who could break out of the Special Service Bureau’s encirclement all had some unique skills to their name.
Wang Yunxiao kept changing guns but not his position, steadfastly holding the stairwell so they couldn’t breach it. The enemies immediately switched tactics.
The ground beneath his feet suddenly collapsed.
A pair of massive hands constructed from building rubble burst forth from under Wang Yunxiao’s feet, gripping his legs tightly and dragging him down.
If they couldn’t reach the top floor, they would bring down the building!
The solid cement ground began to melt, and Guozi and Matuan, guarding the stairwell, couldn’t escape in time and were directly engulfed.
Bricks, stones, and debris stuck together and encased Wang Yunxiao, blocking his senses, cutting off his breath, and restricting his movements. If he couldn’t escape in time, he might be buried alive in this makeshift coffin.
Still not strong enough...
Wang Yunxiao lamented for the Nth time in his heart the weakness of his current physical body.
I must train, I must keep training!
Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and the heavy chains on him vanished.
Chen Yan, trapped halfway through the floor and unable to move, strenuously reached out to press a Chess Herald piece.
Wang Yunxiao was dragged back, and when he opened his eyes, he saw the gaping maw right before him.
Without a second thought, he stabbed his Swallow Wing Blade right into it.
The gaping maw suddenly closed, snapping the finely-crafted Swallow Wing Blade into pieces. It was only then that Wang Yunxiao could see clearly that he was facing a werewolf.
He wasn’t entirely sure what breed it was, but there was no doubt that this creature possessed tremendous strength and intelligence. It had leaped onto the still-melting floor in the nick of time, going straight for the core member of the team, Chess Herald.
Though the sudden appearance of Wang Yunxiao’s face startled it, when the werewolf realized that his opponent had nothing but an ordinary melee weapon, a cruel and bloodthirsty smile spread across its furry face.
The creature’s two sharp claws came together, attempting to tear the slight young man before it into shreds. From its past experiences, this should not require much effort. Judging by their uniforms, they seemed to be just regular Patrol Police, not those grey-skinned monsters in human skin...
Spurt—
The werewolf let out a scream, clutching its nose as it toppled backward onto the ground.
Wang Yunxiao’s Swallow Wing Blade had been bitten to pieces, leaving only half of the broken blade in his hand. Even so, Wang Yunxiao didn’t think about retreating even half a step. Taking advantage of the moment when it stupidly laughed, he thrust the remnant blade into its nostril.
Even if you have teeth in your mouth that can bite through steel, it doesn’t mean that the hairs in your nostrils are bulletproof.
The werewolf, clutching its nose, stumbled backward, falling to the ground. The nose, being the most sensitive organ, was similarly sensitive to pain, causing tears and mucus to spurt uncontrollably, completely oblivious to the whistling wind coming from behind.
Or rather, even if it had noticed, it was too late.
In such a large-scale melee, even top fighters find it hard to guard against all the sly attacks around them.
The accuracy of the shots might not be great, but one can’t help being a good target.
Gangtou’s Wolf Fang Club, aimed at the top of its head, came whooshing down.
The club smashed firmly onto the back of the werewolf’s head, denting its skull a full inch inward. If it were a regular person, their head would probably have burst open. But werewolves have an incredibly tenacious vitality, and even with its eyeballs smashed out of its sockets, it still hadn’t lost the ability to move, struggling to wave its claws in an attempt to fight back. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"I’ll kill all of you... ugh..."
Clearly not understanding the principle that villains die from talking too much, the creature still wanted to speak out of anger. Wang Yunxiao raised his hand and threw a lit Gunpowder Bomb into its throat, then rushed over to hold its head down firmly.
The biting force of a crocodile is terrifying, but their strength to open their mouths is not quite so ample.
The same goes for canines; nature didn’t see the need for them to evolve enough muscle strength to exert full force in opening their jaws.
What good would that do?
Boom—!
A loud explosion followed by two strands of black smoke billowing out of the werewolf’s nostrils. Its eyeballs were blown out of their sockets.
However, as a price, Wang Yunxiao’s arms were also lacerated by the werewolf’s claws, nearly gouging out the bones.
Wang Yunxiao didn’t bother to check his arms; he dropped the werewolf’s corpse and immediately looked around to assess the situation.
The overall situation was controllable.
It seemed that the enemy had no courage or determination to stake everything on a single throw. They simply launched an ambush, and upon realizing that this was a tough point to gnaw through, they turned and fled without a second word.
They weren’t foolish; every second they lingered here meant a reduced chance of escaping to safety.
Even though they knew there was hardly any hope, who would willingly surrender and wait for death until the very end?
Even so, they still inflicted serious damage on Wang Yunxiao’s team.
After all, these were real enemies, who would show no mercy.
