Chapter 651: Man-eating Fish

Moon Stone contained large amounts of Soul Energy, and it could sharply increase a person’s speed of cultivation. They were priceless and in demand in the various main Dimensions. Unfortunately, over tens of thousands of years, both shores of the Moon River had been picked almost completely clean of Moon Stones. Many people searched for long periods of time without finding even a single Moon Stone.

“Aye, it’s been three days in a row. And yet, not a piece of Moon Stone to be found!”

After coming up empty, a white-bearded man sighed hopelessly. This time around, the old man had risked wading into the Moon River. While he had no hopes of claiming one of the Divine Weapons of the Demon Palace, he would be satisfied with a dozen or so Moon Stones. Regretfully, he hadn’t gained anything despite his efforts over the past few days.

“Legend has it that there are plenty of Moon Stones on the island around the Demon Palace. If you really want them, Jamal, why not swim over and give it a try?” A big man wearing black battle armor smiled, casting the fishing net in his hand as he spoke.

“Nonsense! Of course, I know that the chances of getting Moon Stones are much higher on the island, but are you capable of swimming over?” The old man named Jamal shook his head with a sour expression. Even though he had trained enough to become a High-level Deity, he still doubted that he had the power to swim across.

“You won’t know if you don’t try. Jamal, you’re old. See, other people are swimming over the moment they become High-level Deities!”

“Hehe, Madison, you just wait and watch how they die!” Even some Mid-level Deities were recklessly attempting to swim for the island in the middle of the lake. Jamal smiled coldly.

As expected, before he had finished speaking, a few fellows swimming out began screaming, “Nile Crocodiles, help! Help!”

After an earth-shattering roar, a nearly ten-meter-long giant Crocodile emerged from the water. Its great mouth opened, then closed on the head of a big-bearded High-level Deity. With a cracking sound, its sharp teeth punched through the man’s helmet. Then, with a violent twist of its body, it pulled the man’s head off in the blink of an eye. A few other Crocodiles swarmed together, locking their jaws around the body of the man. Very quickly, the big beard was torn apart in front of everyone and swallowed into the tummies of the terrifying Nile Crocodiles.

“Swim away, quick!”

“Ah! Help, help!”

A few of the swimmers loudly shouted for help and struggled valiantly. Unfortunately, it was all for nothing!

The waters near the Moon River were foggy, greatly limiting the detection radius of Divine Knowledge. The swimmers only realized what was happening when the Nile Crocodiles splashed to the surface beside them, and by then, it was too late to avoid the attack. On top that, not only was the lake water bone-chillingly cold, it also contained a frightening element of Soul Attack. Most of their power was drained from just trying to resist the severe cold and the Soul Attack, so they didn’t have extra energy to deal with the terrifying Divine-level Nile Crocodiles. A few managed to put up a fight, but their weapons weren’t able to break through the hard scales of the Nile Crocodiles.

Very quickly, the swimmers were torn to pieces by the Nile Crocodiles!

“Tsk tsk, they’re so powerful. No wonder so many people would rather search fruitlessly on the shores of the Moon River than attempt to swim to the island!” Witnessing the terrifying sight, Yang Ling sucked in a cold breath. At first, he had been prepared to summon a few deep-sea Giant Pythons and ride one of them to the island. Now, it seemed that things wouldn’t be that simple.

There were dangers lurking under the surface of the water. Even if he were to get lucky and make it over, he would have no way of knowing if he could make it back!

“My Lord, the Moon Lake is so big. There can’t be that many Nile Crocodiles in every place. Could we find some other way to swim over?” Looking at the lake surface that was rapidly returning to its normal calm, the Corpse Wizard King furrowed his brows.

The Corpse Wizard King had been shaken by the sight of the Nile Crocodiles tearing apart the swimmers. He understood how such a group of terrifying beasts could stop someone who wanted to cross. However, he was unwilling to let it go just like that.

Not only was there a higher chance of netting Moon Stones on the island in the center of the lake, but more importantly, reaching the island was the only way they could enter the Demon Palace and search for Divinities and Divine Weapons. Otherwise, they could only stand at the side of the lake and fret while others fought for the treasures within the Demon Palace.

“There might be a way yet. Let’s do this. All of you go back to the Wizard Pagoda’s Space first. I’ll find a way to swim across by myself!” Looking at the foggy waters of the lake surface, Yang Ling furrowed his brows. After waving his hand to send everyone away, he walked around the Moon Lake twice, carefully observing the surrounding environment.

The waters of the surface of the lake were foggy. The fog was denser near the Demon Palace, and the restriction on Divine Knowledge increased as well. Yang Ling found that he also couldn’t use the Five Elements Evasion Technique or the Teleportation Portal to teleport directly over.

“It will be dangerous to swim in the water, and I can’t fly over in the air. What to do?” Looking at the ripples over Moon Lake that stretched ten thousand miles, and the water fog that contained the Soul Attack, Yang Ling furrowed his brows, thinking hard of a counter. He looked around as he thought. He noticed the trees behind him, towering into the air, and he had a sudden thought.

After summoning a few of his people from the Wizard Pagoda’s Space, he instructed them to chop down trees to build a strong raft. In an isolated corner of the lake, he cast a restriction, building a simple Great Wizard Altar and leaving a deep Soul Seal. He then summoned a horde of Magical Beasts, ordering the Flying Dragon King Seylius to stand guard with them at the Great Wizard Altar and defend it against anyone who happened by.

Now, even if he were to meet with danger halfway across the lake, he could use the Soul Seal on the Great Wizard Altar to teleport right back!

The party, including the Corpse Wizard King, very quickly made a solid and strong wooden raft, smeared a layer of oil on it, and cast a Wind Element Spell Formation on top. As a preventive measure, Master Aaron also drew a few Gnome Spell Formations on the raft to further fortify it and increase its speed.

“Seylius, in addition to protecting the perimeter of the Great Wizard Altar, remember to walk around nearby every day and see if Richardson and the rest have come!” After giving a few instructions, Yang Ling placed his raft-builders back into the Wizard Pagoda’s Space and injected a surge of Wizard Power to activate the Wind Element Spell formation on the wooden raft.

Whoo…

After gathering a large amount of energy, the wooden raft accelerated and leaped away from the shore, with a large crest of waves trailing after it. Very quickly, he caught up to a group of Wanderers who had joined forces to swim towards the island.

“My Lord, take us with you!”

Looking at the fast-traveling wooden raft, the Wanderers’ eyes brightened, and they gritted their teeth and swam hard for the raft. Not waiting for Yang Ling to agree, they climbed on board. There were men and women, about 28 of them in total. Most of them were at the peak of High-level Deity. They worked well together, seeming like an experienced team. Nearby, other Wanderers who had seen the situation were also attempting to hitchhike onto Yang Ling’s raft.

“No problem, just pay me a few Moon Stones each!” Yang Ling smiled, deliberately not stopping the wooden raft, but also not chasing off the fellows who had climbed up. The small wooden raft was surging forward like a speedboat, skimming the water surface with a whooshing sound and leaving behind the Wanderers who were too slow to climb on board.

“My Lord, you must be joking. But once we reach the island, paying even a few dozen Moon Stones won’t be a problem!” Looking at the smile on Yang Ling’s face, the team leader of the Wanderers smiled and quickly introduced himself. As expected, it was a team of Wanderers that had been around the Chaos Dimension for a long time and were very experienced.

“Lord Yang Ling, if you can’t personally use the Moon Stones that you retrieve, you should take them to the Chaos Dimension to sell. If you can find the Wanderers’ base camps that are self-formed, you will definitely be able to trade the stones for large amounts of Black Crystals!” said the leader of the team in a warm and cheery voice. As the raft skimmed over the lake, drawing closer and closer to the island, the smile on his face grew brighter and brighter.

Just as the island surrounded by fog was coming into view, and everyone was heaving a sigh of relief, a horde of Nile Crocodiles suddenly emerged from the water. They roared loudly in rage. There were big and small ones. Just by looking at the heads breaking the surface of the water, Yang Ling could see that there were about a hundred of them.

A hundred Nile Crocodiles?

A shock jolted through everyone, and they drew their weapons at the same time. As if facing a great enemy, Yang Ling did the same, his right hand pulling out the sharp Soul Battle Blade, and his left hand making a Wizard Seal, trying his best to get a sense of the Great Wizard Altar on the shore in case the worst should happen.

Roar!

The expected attack didn’t materialize. Instead, the hundred Nile Crocodiles thrashed wildly in the water, groaning loudly in anguish. Huge pools of blood seeped up to the surface of the water. In the blink of an eye, the nearby waters turned a bloody red. A few heads of the Nile Crocodiles sank underwater, and when they emerged again, they were nothing but skulls!

“Man-eating Fish! The terrifying Man-eating Fish of Moon River, quick, hurry!”

Looking at the eerie scene unfolding in front of his eyes, Yang Ling didn’t immediately understand what was going on. He saw a jolt go through the team leader of the Wanderers, who had vast knowledge, and the man’s face turned pale. The team leader urged Yang Ling to increase the speed of the wooden raft. With the injection of a large amount of Wizard Power, the Wind Element Spell Formation on the wooden raft hummed lightly, gathering huge amounts of the elements of the Wind Element Spell Formation. The small wooden raft accelerated once more!

The small wooden raft was flying over the water, but unfortunately, it was too late!

With a strange noise, swarms of small fish suddenly appeared on the surface. After a wave of crunching noises, the wooden raft that was fortified with magic began to rapidly disintegrate. The fish were small, only about as long as an index finger. But their two jaws were very strong. Their lower jaws protruded out, with triangular-shaped teeth that were sharp beyond compare. The teeth glinted with cold light, the top and bottom teeth crisscrossing with one another, like a pair of sharp saws—a chilling sight!

The Man-eating Fish, the real lords of the Moon Lake, suddenly appeared in swarms of too many to count!
