Lord Evolution: Starting With SS-rank Skills-Chapter 224: Migration ( 74 )
It was a few hours past midnight, and the majority of the soldiers were fast asleep when Rowan jolted awake, drenched in cold sweat. His head blasted with a splitting headache that threatened to burst his skull open.
Rowan sat upright, clutching his head, wondering what could have resulted in such an excruciating pain. Slowly, memories of the previous night began resurfacing in his mind—albeit hazy, yet enough to recall that he hadn’t fallen asleep directly.
"I entered the crafting space to make weapons, but I don’t recall leaving. This is strange," he muttered to himself.
He racked his brain, trying to recall any other events that occurred inside the crafting space. No matter how hard he tried, the last clear memory he had was storing the weapons he’d made and planning to leave, but he never actually left.
The memories of Benzene had mysteriously vanished, leaving Rowan completely clueless.
"Maybe I fell asleep in the crafting space and ended up here," Rowan concluded.
It was still the dark of night, and everyone else was fast asleep. The morning sun would only appear in the next three hours. With nothing else to do, Rowan relaxed once again, drifting back to sleep until the first light of day.
When dawn broke, the soldiers woke early as well, their anticipation for the day’s hunt igniting their spirits. They looked energetic and ready to engage with monsters at a moment’s notice. Rowan smiled at their readiness—it was just what he needed. If they maintained this energy every morning as they had during the previous days of the hunting trip, perhaps hundreds of them might have evolved by now.
Not allowing the energetic mood to fade without putting it to use, he quickly distributed the food supply. While they ate, he further ignited their spirits with a short speech of motivation and gyration. Within half an hour, the entire group had finished eating.
Rowan then distributed the weapons he had crafted the night before.
"Wow, this sword looks really beautiful and sharp. It’s even lighter than my previous one! Thank you, Lord Rowan!" one soldier exclaimed.
"Very sharp tips on the arrows. Captain George would have loved these—they are exactly what he dreamed of using one day. Rest in peace, Captain. I will ensure to use these arrows very well!" another soldier added.
Everyone expressed gratitude to Rowan for the new weapons. The swordsmen swung their swords and compared them to their old ones, while the archers rejoiced at the sharpness of their new arrows. Meanwhile, the martial artists stared at the gauntlets handed to them, amazement shining in their eyes.
One of the soldiers held his hands up, admiring the cool appearance of the gauntlets. Even Bryce, who preferred fighting with his bare hands over any weapons, was thrilled by the new gear’s appearance.
"What are these? They feel so cool and refreshing to fight with. Even though they’re made out of metal, they’re still very flexible and allow free movement of the hands, almost as though nothing is equipped," Bryce analyzed with a smile.
"Cool, isn’t it?" Rowan responded with a grin.
"Very..." Bryce remarked.

Rowan nodded before looking up at the others.
"Stay in formation."
They complied, taking up the usual basic formation of archers circling the close-ranged fighters.
Not wasting a single minute, as there was much to do for the day, Rowan activated Hunter Call. Instantly, the calm atmosphere erupted into chaos: stomping feet of approaching monsters, their bestial cries, and the sight of their ugly forms charging toward them.
The other archer captain, Nolan, gave the order as the monsters drew closer and the first set of attacks began. The area soon filled with flying arrows and the cries of wounded monsters. Thanks to the fights of the last few days, the archers had become more skilled, naturally increasing the damage behind each arrow by about 30 percent.
Those who could only graze the skin of their opponents could now deal fatal wounds, while those who usually delivered fatal wounds were ending lives outright. Coupled with the new, sharper arrows, the slaying rate increased dramatically.
It filled Rowan with pride to watch his men use his creations to execute his strategies—it was a joyful sight. The archers gained evolution points by the second, something Rowan keenly observed. He paid special attention to Nolan, who had the most evolution points among the archers. Nolan’s total was closing in on one hundred eighty-five thousand and continued to increase every minute. Nolan had mastered shooting three arrows at once, dealing insane damage, thus earning him three times the evolution points of the average archer.
Nolan was usually the introverted type who kept to himself, even though he was a captain and second only to the late Gregor among the best archers. He typically deferred leadership of the archers to Gregor. However, with Gregor’s absence, Nolan had stepped up and played his part admirably.
"Switch!" Rowan called out when the archers were nearly done, initiating the usual rotation.
Smoothly, the switch began.

The swordsmen and martial artists yelled as they charged toward the monsters. Their numbers were vast, their weapons glaringly sharp, yet the monsters numbered in the thousands. This time, Winston and the other captains weren’t the only ones charging with seriousness—the scared, the weakest, and even the overweight soldiers charged forward with ferocity.
Soon, the battlefield was filled with slashing and smashing sounds. Rowan’s vision was almost blocked by the constant stream of notifications pouring in every second. The rate at which the close-range fighters were thinning the horde was insane—more insane than anything Rowan had ever witnessed.
He even had to activate Hunter Call once again to draw out more monsters. Nevertheless, even as more monsters poured forth, the soldiers stood firm and fought with extreme seriousness.
Half an hour later, Captains Roland and Josh collapsed to the ground—they were evolving! Rowan and Blaze acted immediately, hauling both out of the combat zone before the raging monsters could target them.
About twenty minutes later, another captain joined the two in the evolving state.
