Living with the Dangerous Beast-Chapter 109: Nohojeong and the Four Divine Beasts
Chapter 109: Nohojeong and the Four Divine Beasts
‘I’ve seen all kinds of beasts, but....’
Never had he encountered one as utterly despicable as this.
The mountain lord of Mount Taeryong wasn’t nicknamed a demon and a brute for no reason. freewёbnoνel.com
The tiger deserved every bit of his infamy.
And Sohwa?
She wasn’t much better.
While she feigned reluctance with her “No, we can’t,” she subtly egged her husband on, sly as any fox.
A teacher, a guest of honor, she said—Noksu hadn’t even asked to be brought into the guest quarters, yet they had done so only to act like this.
Just as Sohwa had warned, Mount Taeryong’s mountain lord was truly the worst of the worst.
The tiger had gone as far as to string up the carcasses of male foxes he had hunted across the beams of guest quarters.
Their blood splattered the courtyard, creating a gruesome scene no sane beast would ever imagine.
Waking up at dawn to the stench of blood, Noksu had shuddered at the hellscape that greeted him.
Dohwi’s message to him was clear:
‘You’re next.’
At their very first meeting, Dohwi had embraced his fox bride while staring directly at Noksu with a ‘friendly’ gaze, though it was clear to Noksu there was a glimpse of deadliness lurking underneath.
When the tiger had extended his hand for a handshake, the golden glint in his eyes had made his intentions all too clear.
‘Should I run now? But where would I go? Even if I fled, I might still get caught....’
Lost in thought, Noksu opened the door to his quarters, only to be hit by the sharp, musky scent lingering in the air.
“Ugh.”
Instinctively, he pinched his nose shut.
The overpowering smell was unmistakable—he had encountered it once before.
“The scent of a tiger in heat...!”
Forcing himself inside, Noksu slid open the door.
His gaze immediately fell on the white stains splattered across his cherished geomungo.
Nearby, the bangsangsi mask he treasured lay shattered, split in two on the floor.
“You... DAMN BASTARD!”
His clenched fists trembled with fury as a seething rage boiled up from within.
He had been willing to let this slide, willing to walk away quietly, setting aside his pride, and yet....
Now he was furious.
‘I won’t leave this damn house on my own two feet.’
Dohwi’s actions had gone too far.
Noksu hadn’t so much as laid a hand on Sohwa—hadn’t even left a trace of his scent on her.
And yet, the tiger had committed this unspeakable atrocity.
‘I’ll stake the honor of the gumiho on this. I’ll take the most precious thing from you.’
He had dared to poke the sleeping fox.
‘You’ll soon learn the price of crossing me.’
Noksu’s crimson eyes burned with molten fury, seething with a thirst for revenge.
Bonus Story Chapter 2-5. Nohojeong and the Four Divine Beasts
For the past few days, Dohwi had avoided going out, indulging himself by staying close to his bride from morning until night.
“Mmm, it’s sweet. When did you visit the capital again?”
“While you were sleeping.”
As he fed Sohwa strands of honey taffy, he smothered her round cheeks with kisses.
“You’re so diligent. I suppose it’s sweeter because it’s from afar. It’s so sweet it makes my teeth ache.”
“Should I try some, then? Just to see how sweet it would be?”
“Don’t even think about it. If you eat something like this, your precious fangs will rot away. I’ll eat it for you instead.”
“You little fox.”
“It’s all because I care about you... ah, stop! That tickles!”
As the couple flirted on the pavilion, Woongsik came rushing in, practically tripping over himself.
“My lord! My lord! There’s trouble!”
Just as Dohwi was about to lay Sohwa down gently, he turned and shot a sharp glare at the intruder.
His expression was sharp with annoyance, making it clear he wasn’t pleased with the interruption.
“What’s got you all flustered so early in the morning?”
Sohwa asked, setting aside the honey taffy, her curiosity piqued.
“Well, it’s... my lord....”
Woongsik hesitated, clearly uncomfortable speaking in front of the lady.
With a short sigh, Dohwi got up and descended the pavilion steps, leaving his robe open.
“What is it?”
“Well, you see....”
Woongsik leaned in close to whisper something meant only for Dohwi’s ears.
“It’s about... from before... the abductions....”
Sohwa clung to the railing of the pavilion, her eyes wide as she watched the two of them closely.
‘Abduction?’
She tried to eavesdrop, her fox ears twitching, but managed to catch only a single word.
It seemed something urgent had happened outside.
As Woongsik whispered the details, Dohwi fastened his robe and looked back at Sohwa.
“I need to go.”
As Dohwi reached out toward the railing, Sohwa quickly leaned her face out.
He gently cupped her soft cheeks, as if reluctant to let her go.
“We’ll finish this tonight.”
“Whatever it is, just take care of it quickly. I’ll stay here and wait patiently.”
Sohwa replied.
With that, Dohwi leapt over the wall, disappearing from sight.
