Chapter 76: Chapter 75: Zhou Mochen, Don’t You Have Any Self-Respect?

Xu Su had a habit of taking her anger out on others. After going downstairs, she didn’t walk toward where Zhou Mochen was parked. Instead, she headed straight for the bus stop and took a bus back to school.

From a distance, Zhou Mochen watched her get on the bus. His expression darkened, and he started his car to follow it.

The bus was slow, having to stop at every station for passengers. So, the moment Xu Su stepped off, she saw Zhou Mochen waiting for her at the stop.

His face was grim, his brow furrowed as he watched her. He strode over, clearly furious. "Xu Su, can’t you be reasonable? Is this really my fault?"

’That’s right, it wasn’t his fault. After all, Young Master Zhou would never normally deign to live in such a shabby building. He only ever showed his face when he went back with her on the weekends.’

But the fact remained: her parents now knew that the so-called "descendant of the old factory director" was pursuing her right to their doorstep, and they were delighted by it.

Xu Su was sickened by her parents’ attitude, but she couldn’t lash out at them directly. Her anger could only be vented on Zhou Mochen.

Students returning to campus for the weekend were all around them. Not wanting to cause a scene, Xu Su said calmly, "Move. I have a self-study session tonight."

"Move? And then what? Let you keep your phone off and give me the cold shoulder?" Zhou Mochen reached out and grabbed her arm, speaking almost through gritted teeth. "Xu Su, what have I told you? Don’t ignore me. Is that so difficult?"

Xu Su didn’t pull away in time, and he gripped her arm tightly. She shot a quick glance around. Seeing that no one was paying them any mind, she glared at Zhou Mochen. "I don’t want to fight with you here."

’At this time of day, a classmate could be taking the bus back to school and spot them at any moment.’

Xu Su wrenched her arm free and strode toward his car nearby.

’You want to argue, right? Fine. Let’s do it somewhere else.’

Zhou Mochen immediately followed. He seemed to be seething. Once in the car, he started the engine without a word. A dozen or so minutes later, they stopped in the underground parking garage of Imperial Central.

His voice was calm again. "Should we talk upstairs, or right here?"

This was the first time Xu Su had ever come to this place. But in her past life....

Xu Su’s hands balled into fists. ’Don’t think about it.’

Zhou Mochen had already opened her door and reached out to pull her from the car.

It was only when her feet hit the ground that Xu Su snapped back to reality. She frantically wrenched her hand away. "Don’t pull me! If you have something to say, say it here! I’m not going upstairs! I’m not!"

Her reaction stunned Zhou Mochen. He slowly released his grip, then watched her, his face devoid of expression.

He waited until she had calmed down before asking, "Are you afraid? Xu Su, tell me, what are you afraid of?"

His voice was calm, completely devoid of emotion.

Xu Su leaned against the car door, struggling to steady her breathing. She let out a cold sneer and looked up at him, her eyes full of loathing. "What else is there to be afraid of? Zhou Mochen, I’m afraid of you, of course. Are you happy? I’m afraid of you."

"Afraid of what?"

Xu Su turned her head away without a word and was about to leave when he grabbed her and pulled her back.

Zhou Mochen gripped her chin, forcing her to face him. He stared intently into her eyes and demanded in a cold voice, "Tell me. What are you afraid of?"

Xu Su tried to pry his hand off her chin, but to no avail. She yelled through gritted teeth, "Zhou Mochen, I hate you! I hate you!"

The disgust in her eyes was unmistakable. Zhou Mochen’s jaw tightened, and a violent, cold aura rose from him. "So that’s what you really think? Xu Su, if you hate me so much, have you been sick to death of me this whole time?"

Consumed by a blind rage, Xu Su screamed, "Yes, I am! I’m sick to death of it! I have to fight back nausea just to reply to your messages every day! Zhou Mochen, don’t you have any self-respect? Can’t you tell I’m annoyed with you? Why do you always insist on pestering me? You even got an apartment across from my house—are you some kind of freak?"

The hand on her chin tightened involuntarily. Xu Su winced in pain, but Zhou Mochen didn’t let go. He seemed completely unaffected by her words, not a single emotion showing on his face.

He merely held her chin fast and leaned in until their faces were inches apart. Their eyes locked, both filled with cruelty.

"A freak?" he said. "Xu Su, do you want to find out what a real freak is like?"

Only when he spoke did he betray his emotions; his voice was practically shattered.

Startled by his voice, Xu Su’s senses finally returned. Feeling the pain in her chin and not understanding how things had escalated this far, she asked with a trembling voice, "Zhou Mochen, what are you trying to do?"

Zhou Mochen smirked, his eyes full of mockery. "Do? What else? I’m going to..."

Xu Su’s hands, which were trying to pry his from her chin, shot up to cover his mouth. "Shut up! Shut up! Zhou Mochen, if you dare say it, I’ll hate you to death!"

His mouth covered unexpectedly, Zhou Mochen couldn’t finish his sentence. He silently watched the indignant girl. The loathing in her eyes, which had pained him so much he’d lost his reason, was now gone.

The hand on her chin finally loosened. Zhou Mochen leaned in and kissed the reddened skin. Seeing that his menacing aura had dissipated, Xu Su didn’t dare to move, terrified he would lose control again.

Her skin was delicate, and two red fingerprints were already visible. As he continued kissing the marks, his breathing grew ragged.

Xu Su couldn’t stop herself from covering his mouth again, glaring at him. "Don’t."

He stared at her for a long moment before pulling her hand away. "Xu Su, do you really hate me? Does replying to my texts make you that disgusted?"

He bit out the last word through clenched teeth.

Xu Su rubbed her chin, her expression growing awkward under his intense gaze. "I was just angry. Haven’t you ever had an argument before? That’s how it is, you say whatever you know will hurt the most."

"Is that so?" Zhou Mochen’s voice was quiet. "Xu Su, will you ever actually like me?"

’He was beginning to question if his patience would ever pay off. The girl he liked had called him disgusting—would she ever truly be willing to like him?’

’If he could never win her affection, no matter how hard he tried... it wasn’t like he had to have her love, right?’

’As long as he had her, that would be enough.’

Seeing his expression, Xu Su’s heart lurched with panic. She stopped rubbing her chin and tried to placate him. "I was just saying things. I don’t think you’re disgusting, really. I admit, sometimes I find it annoying how clingy you are, but I’m not disgusted by you."

His eyes remained locked on her as he pressed, "You were afraid to come upstairs with me. What were you afraid of?"

’That you’d go into heat, of course!’

Xu Su cursed him in her head before looking away and explaining stiffly, "I... I’m scared of unfamiliar places."

Zhou Mochen watched her in silence for a long while. Then, as if suddenly giving in, he pulled her into an embrace and murmured, "It’s good that you’re on your guard, but you don’t need to be with me. I won’t hurt you. You know that. I couldn’t bear to." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Xu Su pressed her lips together tightly, her hand clutching the hem of his shirt. "Zhou Mochen, just now, you were going to say..."

She couldn’t finish the sentence.

Zhou Mochen’s voice whispered by her ear, "You get it, don’t you, Xu Su? Just like what you said... I was just angry too."
