Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Strong Winds

Lu Ke pulled down his pants and looked at his thigh.

The spot where he had been bitten by the wolf was still bruised, especially around the tooth marks where there were some clots of blood.

However, it didn’t hurt much, just a slight sensation.

Have to admit, that pain-relief spray really worked wonders.

Xu Yi placed his hand over it and rubbed it to promote circulation and dispel the blood stasis.

After rubbing for a while, Xu Yi stopped.

He glanced at Lu Ke, closed his eyes, and was ready to rest for half an hour before getting back to work.

After a while, Lu Ke opened her eyes.

She had slept for nearly six hours, and the quality of rest was quite good.

Sitting up, Lu Ke stretched her arms and yawned lazily.

Then she saw Xu Yi sitting at the doorway.

Quickly getting up, she went to Xu Yi’s side and gently nudged him, trying to wake him up.

"Xu Yi, wake up, go sleep inside."

"You’re awake. Are you hungry? The wolf meat should be done smoking by now." Xu Yi stood up directly, having been leaning there for half an hour but couldn’t fall asleep.

"I’m okay, you should eat something, and then go sleep for a bit." Lu Ke said, a bit surprised when she saw Xu Yi building a wooden tower.

"It’s almost eleven, time for lunch." Xu Yi got up and moved his body a little, glancing at the time.

This time, Xu Yi didn’t even keep the wolf leg, he sliced everything into meat pieces.

After the two had lunch, Xu Yi was preparing to go out.

"Xu Yi, are you really not going to sleep? You didn’t rest at all last night." Lu Ke said with some concern as she looked at Xu Yi.

"No need. I used to pull all-nighters often and still worked the next day. I’m not that fragile; I can just sleep early at night." Xu Yi said with a smile, speaking the truth, as he had done it many times before.

However, now without special circumstances, Xu Yi wouldn’t do that anymore.

Having experienced it, he knew how important health was.

"Alright, I won’t persuade you then. But if you’re going out, I have to tag along." Lu Ke said, pouting, still hoping Xu Yi would take a nap.

"Alright, let’s head to the beach, throw the bones there, and see if we can catch some seafood to eat." With that, Xu Yi slung his hunting bow over his shoulder.

Lu Ke picked up her basket, her bag, and her arrow quiver.

She was getting more and more fond of the crossbow.

After all, it had a laser sight, almost ensuring accuracy.

The new crossbow arrows Xu Yi crafted were very effective, with increased power.

Once they were ready, Xu Yi headed out with the bones.

Lu Ke followed behind Xu Yi like an alert guard.

However, the journey was uneventful, without encountering any animals.

"Xu Yi, the wind by the beach is so strong. Is a typhoon coming?" Lu Ke shouted, her hair blowing wildly in the wind.

Xu Yi tossed the wolf bones and then gazed at the ocean.

Is a typhoon really coming?

He didn’t really know, as he wasn’t raised by the sea and couldn’t judge such matters.

Plus, they were on an alien planet, even with experience, he might not be accurate.

"It’s always good to be prepared. We should stock up more on firewood and thatch tomorrow." Xu Yi shouted back, then headed towards the sea.

Besides some shells, Xu Yi and Lu Ke also found some crabs, the largest one being bigger than half his head. They ignored the smaller ones.

Xu Yi gathered some hibiscus tree bark to tie up the crabs, preventing them from running away.

"Xu Yi, is that seaweed over there?" Lu Ke pointed to a clump in the distance, then ran off.

Xu Yi quickly followed, and indeed it was seaweed; they managed to gather three strands, which was not a small harvest.

The two spent about an hour at the beach, collecting over ten pounds of shells. Of course, most of it was shell with not much meat.

Apart from that, they gathered over ten crabs, weighing around four or five pounds.

Oh, and there was the seaweed.

That was it.

The haul was less than Xu Yi had expected.

Initially, he thought that even without hunting, they could rely on the sea for sufficient food.

Now it seemed plausible short-term, but relying on the sea for sustenance long-term was unrealistic.

"Xu Yi, are we heading back?" Lu Ke asked when she saw Xu Yi shouldering his basket.

"Yeah, there’s no point in lingering, those small shells barely have any meat, occasionally bringing some back for stew is fine." Xu Yi felt it was time to head back so they could chop more firewood.

Lu Ke nodded, agreeing with Xu Yi’s view.

They had walked a long stretch of the beach, but there were few large shells and they hadn’t seen a single fish.

It seemed as though someone had already cleared the beach.

So, the two headed back with their haul from the sea.

By the time they reached the camp, it was nearly four o’clock.

Just as Xu Yi was about to boil some hot water, they heard a voice: Group 03 gave up the challenge.

The two exchanged a glance but said nothing.

"This rain doesn’t seem to want to stop; it’s been five days already." Lu Ke added some firewood to the fire and took off her coat.

Her clothes were hand-sewn, not as tight as machine-sewn ones, so they were slightly soaked.

However, the situation wasn’t too bad, her vest wasn’t wet.

"It might continue for a few more days, hopefully it stops soon, otherwise more people will be eliminated." Xu Yi touched his nose and averted his gaze from Lu Ke.

Lu Ke had gained a bit of weight, her hips seemed fuller.

Just as they were talking, another voice rang in their heads: Group 44 gave up the challenge.

"Another one quit, seems like they’ve reached their limit." Lu Ke glanced at the rain outside; without clothes and food, she wasn’t sure how long she could last.

"That’s two groups now. Those who have started wavering are likely going to make their choices next. Who knows how many groups will drop out this wave?" Xu Yi anticipated more groups would follow suit and quit the challenge, as others had already led the way.

As soon as Xu Yi finished speaking, another voice echoed in their heads, confirming more had followed suit.

By the time the water boiled, seven groups had already quit.

Xu Yi didn’t comment, after all, he didn’t know what others had gone through or what their current situations were.

What he could do was be well-prepared.

So, after drinking hot water, Xu Yi and Lu Ke went to chop firewood.
