Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Will You Get Married in the Future?

"Splash, splash!"

The rain came, raindrops pattering on trees and the ground.

The sound of the rain reached Wang Jin and Lu Yao’s ears, and they both wrapped themselves up tighter with their hats on.

With clothes like raincoats, they were not afraid of getting wet.

However, their straw sandals made their feet feel a bit chilly.

"This damn weather, why does it have to rain now? Doesn’t it know that I’ve got my period?" Wang Jin complained loudly, snuggling closer to Lu Yao. It seemed that doing so might bring her some warmth.

"The rain shouldn’t last too long." Lu Yao glanced at the sky and remarked.

"It’s also a test of whether the place we chose is good, whether we can build a shelter. If this rain doesn’t cut it, then we’ll have to find another place." Lu Yao thought this rain wasn’t entirely a bad thing; it was a test.

"I wonder if others are as unlucky as we are, only finding a water source today." Wang Jin felt that without chatting, she might go crazy.

"There are definitely people worse off than us, and some luckier than us." Lu Yao replied. However, this answer somewhat depressed Wang Jin.

What’s the difference between this and not answering?

"Sis, if you got ten billion, how would you spend it?" Wang Jin changed the topic, feeling as if she might explode any minute.

"I’d probably set up a foundation to help comrades in need." Lu Yao answered. She didn’t have much need for money; her parents had always taken care of everything when she was young, and she rarely spent money herself. After growing up, she left school on a whim to join the army, hardly needing to spend money, with her salary just saved in the bank.

"Sis, you’re really... selfless. Don’t you think about yourself?" Wang Jin rolled her eyes, feeling they lived in different worlds.

"I have a salary, and I can’t even spend it all." Lu Yao glanced at Wang Jin in confusion, thinking they were not from the same world indeed.

"..." Wang Jin felt that it was hard to continue this conversation.

"If I got ten billion, I’d start my own eSports team and defeat all other teams."

"And, I’d hire a team of chefs to make all kinds of food for me every day. I could eat whatever I wanted without leaving the house."

"And what else?" Lu Yao felt that she and Wang Jin indeed lived in different worlds, their mindsets entirely different.

"And... marry a good husband and squander together, hehe." Wang Jin smiled bashfully as she spoke.

She still had fantasies about love.

In college, she had two relationships, both lasting less than a month.

The first one was too clingy, always wanting to meet, shop, eat, etc.

Wasn’t playing on the phone or gaming fun?

So, she decisively chose to break up.

The second was found in a game. Though not as skilled as Wang Jin, he was a professional player. But he was always thinking about getting intimate, which Wang Jin found scary, so she dumped him too.

Although these two experiences weren’t very pleasant, she still hoped to marry a man she liked in the future.

Participating in the survival challenge this time was with the thought of possibly finding a suitable one among so many men.

A person who can live well in the wilderness won’t have a problem in society.

As for money, she earns more than ten million a year and doesn’t really care.

She wasn’t necessarily after the champion but was looking for someone who could live life well, one who could find joy in hardship and is sunny.

"Cousin, do you think you’ll get married in the future?" Wang Jin changed the subject to Lu Yao.

Lu Yao glanced at Wang Jin, speechless: "Of course I will. I’ll pick someone who likes me among the champions of this challenge."

"Hey, that’s a good idea. Being able to win the challenge means they aren’t lacking in any aspect, likely able to handle someone like you, a tough flower." Wang Jin thought Lu Yao should find a fellow trade person, but now that she thinks, a champion isn’t bad either.

"When I am being a woman, I’m quite gentle. Do you have some misunderstanding about me?" Lu Yao glanced at Wang Jin, thinking: This girl is probably a fake sister.

"No, no, I heard from my mom that you are particularly virtuous at home." Wang Jin hurriedly waved her hand. She had heard more than just this.

"The rain stopped, so we can try to make a fire again." Lu Yao said and then went out with a machete.

In front of the house, Xu Yi reached out his hand to check.

"The rain stopped; it didn’t last long." Xu Yi originally thought it would rain for at least an hour.

He went out and cleared away the wet firewood ashes from the pile, creating a slightly dry spot, then moved the charcoal out from inside.

After about a dozen minutes, the fire burned again.

Having added enough firewood, Xu Yi clapped his hands, ready to go back inside to sleep.

In the sleeping bag, Lu Ke was already breathing steadily, clearly asleep, and sleeping soundly.

Xu Yi knew Lu Ke was exhausted today.

To reinforce the fence, she had blistered her hands.

This kind of work was physical labor even for Xu Yi, and even more so for the delicate Lu Ke.

Xu Yi glanced over, then silently crawled into the sleeping bag.

The space was still ample; he didn’t touch Lu Ke.

Lying down for not even ten minutes, Xu Yi fell asleep as well.

The sleeping bag was very comfortable, neither of them showed signs of waking up, sleeping straight until dawn.

Early on the second day, Lu Ke woke up first.

Worrying about waking Xu Yi, she carefully crawled out of the covers.

Seeing Xu Yi still sleeping, Lu Ke couldn’t help but show a sweet smile and walked out of the house.

After Lu Ke left, Xu Yi opened his eyes.

He, of course, knew Lu Ke had woken up, and to avoid awkwardness, he thought pretending to sleep was the more fitting option.

After all, their relationship was quite ordinary, just collaborators for now.

If there weren’t only one sleeping bag, they wouldn’t possibly be squeezed here together.

After waking up, Xu Yi didn’t get up immediately, instead, he sat up, twisting his neck.

Sleeping without a proper pillow is quite uncomfortable, leaving his neck stiff upon waking.

Although Xu Yi had thought of making a pillow, he hadn’t found suitable materials to make one.

Outside, Lu Ke seemed to be busy with something, her footsteps could be heard.

Xu Yi glanced at the time, preparing to head outside.
