Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 309: Finally Realized
Lu Ke hesitated for a moment, then let go of Xu Yi’s hand.
She watched Xu Yi reach for the machete, saw him furrow his brow, and take a sharp breath.
A minute later, Xu Yi released his hand.
"It’s okay, not too much absorbed. You probably lose more than I do each month," Xu Yi joked, then extended his hand to Lu Ke.
Firstly, to show that there was nothing wrong with his hand, and secondly, to ask Lu Ke to hand him the dagger so he could skin the animal himself.
Hearing Xu Yi’s words, Lu Ke blushed slightly, then returned Xu Yi’s dagger to him.
After that, Lu Ke reached for her long spear.
The moment she grabbed it, she felt a sharp pain in her palm and couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.
The pain was real, a sting that went right through her core.
However, this didn’t last long.
In less than a minute, she felt that the dagger had absorbed enough blood.
"It truly is a miraculous weapon," Lu Ke thought to herself, experiencing for the first time the intense feeling of a blood bond with it.
Moreover, she could sense it wasn’t dangerous.
At least, her mind gave that feedback.
Watching the spear shimmer coldly, Lu Ke couldn’t help but play around with it a bit before putting it away.
After more than ten minutes, Xu Yi cut off a large piece of skin, and then they chopped off the Bear Beast’s paw.
They didn’t take the Bear Beast’s meat.
But they didn’t go far either, deciding to wait a while to see if other beasts would be attracted to the smell of blood.
Unfortunately, after nearly an hour of waiting, nothing came, so they had to leave.
If they didn’t leave now, they wouldn’t make it back to camp before dark.
Right before night fell, Xu Yi and Lu Ke finally returned to the camp.
Once back, the two were too lazy to deal with the Bear Beast’s paw. After eating some jerky, they lay on the bed to rest.
Having battled with the Bear Beast for so long made them feel extremely exhausted. They needed to lie down for a while to recover their strength.
The two lay until after eight o’clock, then got up again.
After getting up, Xu Yi and Lu Ke fixed the Bear Beast skin in place.
Then, they each went for a bath.
After taking off his Black Scale Soft Armor, Xu Yi noticed quite a few bruises on his arms and body, which naturally came from fighting against the Bear Beast.
Thankfully, they had the Black Scale Soft Armor. Otherwise, bruises would be the least of their worries.
Lu Ke gave the Black Scale Soft Armor a wash, then set it to dry.
She thought it was better to wear the Black Scale Soft Armor to sleep, so if anything happened in the middle of the night, she wouldn’t need to put it on temporarily.
By the campfire, Lu Ke was steaming two Bear Beast paws while Xu Yi was in Spiritual Meditation.
"Xu Yi, it’s ready to eat," Lu Ke called out a few times. Seeing Xu Yi didn’t respond, she gave him a pat.
"Okay." Xu Yi ended his meditation and then took the plate.
"Xu Yi, were you thinking about something just now?" Lu Ke rarely saw Xu Yi like this, worried he might be hurt or facing some other situation.
"Yeah, I was thinking about what things will be like a hundred days from now. Will we be sent to another place?" Xu Yi casually said, though he had indeed pondered this question before, it wasn’t his current thought.
"To another place?" Lu Ke asked as she cut the bear meat with a bamboo knife, watching Xu Yi.
"Yes, given the organizers’ tendencies, I think it’s quite possible. After all, they possess space teleportation technology," Xu Yi said while cutting the meat.
"If that happens, won’t we have to start all over again?" Lu Ke said somewhat gloomily. She really liked the current camp.
Starting all over again would be too troublesome.
"Isn’t that just the organizers’ style?" Xu Yi shrugged, saying a bit irritatedly.
Lu Ke nodded and then said, "If that’s the case, what will we do with our potatoes?"
Xu Yi glanced, then thought of his Storage Space.
On that last night, he’d have to put the potatoes and similar things into his Storage Space and fill it up. In case of an emergency, they would have something to eat.
"Surely they wouldn’t be this wicked, right?" Lu Ke still hoped it wouldn’t be the case.
"They finally realized this. Many teams have predicted a location change after 100 days."
"After all, there are no longer any creatures in this jungle threatening them. If they stay here for the remaining 400 days, it would really be meaningless."
"In less than a hundred days, they’ve already become top of the food chain. Unless they introduce more ferocious creatures, like dinosaurs."
"Dinosaurs? Watching too many sci-fi films, dinosaurs are extinct."
"Extinct on our planet, but not necessarily on this planet. Besides, with the organizers’ advanced technology, cloning dinosaurs can’t be that hard, right?"
"Only 15 days left, quite eager to see what things will be like after 100 days."
After eating the Bear Beast’s paw meat, Xu Yi and Lu Ke sat by the fire, waiting for the Black Scale Soft Armor to dry.
The more Xu Yi thought about it, the more he felt they might move to a new place after 100 days.
Maybe, by then, they wouldn’t even be able to take Giant Ha and the others with them.
Thinking again and again, Xu Yi put those thoughts aside.
Because even if it were true, he couldn’t do anything but accept it.
Luckily, he had a two-cubic storage space, enough to store a lot of potatoes. Perhaps, three to four hundred pounds of potatoes.
Lu Ke was also pondering the same issue, now thinking that this island’s ecosystem was perhaps truly created by the organizers. After 100 days, they would face the real face of this planet.
At that time, how many days would they last?
If she returned to her own planet, would her cancer flare up?
Her immune system is now extraordinarily strong, capable of destroying cancer cells.
If she returned, maybe her immune system would be beaten by cancer cells, spreading them again.
She’d live if she stayed, but she’d die if she returned.
So Lu Ke didn’t want to go back at all.
Becoming stronger, she’s still not strong enough. Battling the Bear Beast even with Xu Yi was such a long endeavor. Such strength is still not enough.
Therefore, for the next 14 days, she had to wake up earlier every morning for training!
Once the Black Scale Soft Armor dried, the two put on their armor and went upstairs to rest.
Xu Yi lay down early, but he wasn’t sleeping. Instead, he entered a state of Spiritual Meditation.
To Lu Ke, Xu Yi’s demeanor was indeed somewhat unusual.
Usually, he’d always ensure Lu Ke fell asleep first.
Later, Lu Ke figured it out, thinking Xu Yi was probably too worn out from the Bear Beast battle; his body had been exhausted long before.
Tomorrow, they should braise the dried ginseng for soup to replenish Xu Yi.
