Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Terrifying Small Animals

Xu Yi walked over with a machete and found that the little goat was already dead, and it hadn’t been long since it died.

Did an animal enter the deer pen and kill the little goat?

Then, this animal shouldn’t be very large.

After all, the gap in the fence is less than the width of a fist.

Such a small animal actually killed a little goat?

Xu Yi circled around the deer pen but didn’t find any traces.

So, he opened the gate, walked in, and prepared to carry out the little goat’s body to process it by the water.

Then, Xu Yi noticed something moving inside the little goat’s neck.

An alien creature?

The word "alien" suddenly popped into Xu Yi’s mind, along with many scenes from movies.

"Damn, this is kind of scary. An animal killed the little goat and then crawled inside it?"

"Isn’t this just like an alien scenario? Shouldn’t Xu Yi run away quickly?"

"You guys are too dramatic. Just because of this, you think it’s an alien? Couldn’t it be some small carnivorous animal?"

"The unknown is the scariest. This is indeed terrifying!"

"Looking at Xu Yi’s expression, he probably suspects it’s an alien too, right?"

"Xu Yi turned around and left. He’s probably going to get a torch."

Indeed, Xu Yi went to get a torch. He thought it would be safer to burn the little goat’s body. So, not only did he need to get a torch, he also needed to gather some firewood.

"What’s wrong?" Lu Ke noticed Xu Yi’s expression was a bit off and asked.

"An unknown animal killed the little goat and crawled inside its body. I think we need to burn the little goat’s body to be safer." Xu Yi said directly, without intending to hide it from Lu Ke.

"Let me do it. I have Black Scale Soft Armor on, so it’s safer. You don’t have anything." Lu Ke also felt a chill down her spine. Such an animal was truly terrifying.

"Leave it to me. I can handle it. I’ll use a spear to pull it out, which is safer." Lu Ke said seriously.

"Alright, let’s get a fire going first, and then we’ll deal with the body." Xu Yi agreed. Lu Ke was right; her Black Scale Soft Armor provided better defense than he had.

Lu Ke nodded and then helped Xu Yi gather some firewood near the deer pen and set it ablaze.

Once the fire started, Lu Ke grabbed her spear and opened the deer pen gate.

She pierced her spear into the little goat’s body and then lifted it out, immediately placing it on the fire.

As soon as it was placed on the fire, two black objects crawled out of the little goat’s body, climbing along Lu Ke’s spear. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Startled, Lu Ke dropped her spear in shock.

Xu Yi acted decisively, slashing down with his blade.

Quick, accurate, and ruthless.

"Killed a Carnivorous Scale Rat, earning 4 points."

It was a rat?

Xu Yi was momentarily stunned, then swung his machete toward the other Carnivorous Scale Rat.

It ran swiftly, but Xu Yi’s movement was faster, striking it directly.

"Killed a Carnivorous Scale Rat, earning 4 points."

"What kind of animal is this?" Lu Ke felt relieved seeing Xu Yi had killed them all.

If Xu Yi had been a bit slower, one of them might have leaped onto Lu Ke.

"Carnivorous Scale Rat, each worth 4 points, not to be underestimated. You should bring the little goat’s body out; it might still be edible." Xu Yi spoke, then examined the Carnivorous Scale Rat’s body.

Its size was not large, similar to a typical rat, but its teeth and claws appeared very sharp, explaining how it bit through the little goat’s throat and burrowed inside effortlessly.

If there were only a few of these, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but a large group would be terrifying.

"Do we really have to eat it?" Lu Ke felt a bit nauseated at the thought of rats.

"It’s fine, I’ll handle it. You should process the Scale Leopard’s body." Xu Yi said, then dragged the little goat’s body to the water’s edge.

Xu Yi was curious as to why these Carnivorous Scale Rats attacked the goat instead of the Scale Leopard.

The Scale Leopard’s carcass was lying there, and these rats should have been able to smell the blood.

Did they prefer live prey, or was there another reason?

Unfortunately, the organizers had not provided information on the island’s animals.

Lu Ke picked up her spear and returned to the first floor.

She was careful, using the spear to prod around, making sure no Carnivorous Scale Rats lurked inside the Scale Leopard’s body.

It turned out Lu Ke’s worry was unfounded; the Scale Leopard’s body didn’t harbor any rats.

Xu Yi used the machete to cut open the little goat’s wound and traced the marks left by the Carnivorous Scale Rats.

He found the goat’s windpipe had been bitten open, preventing it from bleating in distress.

Upon further inspection, Xu Yi discovered the little goat’s heart, liver, and kidneys were missing, clearly eaten by the rats.

Then, Xu Yi checked on the Scale Leopard.

"It seems these Carnivorous Scale Rats prefer eating internal organs. They ate the Scale Leopard’s organs first, then attacked the little goat." Xu Yi analyzed, noting that the Scale Leopard’s organs were also missing, leaving no other explanation but that the rats ate them.

"Although the Scale Leopard’s skin isn’t as tough as the Black Scale Lion’s or the Iron-Scaled Giant Forest Rat’s, it’s still good for making soft armor for mounts." Xu Yi remarked, deciding to make not just Soft Scale Armor for himself but also for Ju Ha and the reindeer.

This way, their defense power would be increased, allowing them to withstand attacks from wild beasts.

Particularly against beasts with sharp claws, this could prevent injuries altogether.

"Yes, we need to collect more; this isn’t enough." Lu Ke agreed, noting that once Ju Ha had Scale Armor, its combat capabilities might improve significantly.

After training, it might become a powerful assistant.

"No rush, we still have plenty of time." Xu Yi said, then proceeded to skin the little goat, chopping some meat to cook in the pot. With some nearly dried black pepper added, he thought it would taste good.

Then, he and Lu Ke skinned the Scale Leopard.

As for the Scale Leopard’s meat, Xu Yi tossed it to Ju Ha, letting it eat as much as it could.

Once they finished processing the Scale Leopard’s skin, the goat meat in the pot was ready, emanating a tempting aroma.

With added black pepper, the scent became even more enticing.

So, the two of them feasted heartily.

After eating their fill and resting a bit, it was already nine-thirty.

Then, the two of them set out on their mounts.

Perhaps today there would be good discoveries.
