Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 157: Severed Tail
Lu Ke ran desperately, without any intention of turning back.
She knew that she had to run to Xu Yi’s side to be safe.
Xu Yi never thought Lu Ke’s speed would be so fast.
In less than two minutes, Lu Ke had reached Xu Yi’s side.
Xu Yi grabbed Lu Ke’s hand and headed toward Su Yan and Yun Qing’s camp.
The python as thick as a bucket; Xu Yi had never seen anything like it. He felt that Lu Ke’s waist was about the same size.
So, they had to find a relatively safe place.
The cave at the camp, Xu Yi thought, could be a place for Lu Ke to hide.
Then, he would divert the giant python away.
After that, he could try to kill it.
Get rid of it?
Seeing its speed, Xu Yi felt there was still a chance.
But killing it had its benefits.
A snake that big, at least ten meters long, weighing at least a thousand pounds?
Slaughter it, and dry the meat, they wouldn’t have to worry about food for months, right?
While he was thinking this, the Calamity Python suddenly reared up behind, spewing some liquid from its mouth.
In an instant, it sprayed onto Xu Yi and Lu Ke.
Xu Yi and Lu Ke never expected a python to be capable of spraying liquid.
And the liquid was a sort of mucus, causing both of them to fall.
"What kind of snake is this that can even spray mucus?"
"It’s over. It’s too late."
"Run, run, the python is coming."
"It’s over. This time, it’s really over."
"Is this python cheating? It’s already so big, not to mention it can spray mucus to ensnare its prey. Any animal encountering it is doomed, right?"
"I think not necessarily. Xu Yi’s knife is overpowered; can it withstand a swing from Xu Yi’s knife?"
"Remember the last time Xu Yi and Lu Ke encountered that little animal with all Scale Armor, it took several blows. How many chances do you think the python will give Xu Yi to strike?"
"I think it’s better to let it swallow you and then break out from inside."
"You’ve watched too much TV. If you really get swallowed, who knows how broken your bones will be. Even if you come out by chance, you might be paralyzed."
"The constriction can crush your organs; being swallowed alive is definitely not survivable."
"The best way is to cover your head with both hands since pythons kill their prey by swallowing and constriction. Hugging your head to the ground will keep it from wrapping around you."
Xu Yi saw the giant python charging toward him and forcefully pushed Lu Ke away.
"Run, quickly run, I’ll handle it." With that, Xu Yi drew out his machete, rolled his body several times to wipe off some of the nasty mucus, and stood up.
"Run, if it doesn’t work I’ll retreat." Xu Yi said without looking back, then he bent over, staring at the giant python.
With one hand holding the dagger in a reverse grip near his head, he guarded against the python trying to bite his head.
The other hand held the machete horizontally in front of him.
He was confident about his machete; the giant python appeared frightening, but shouldn’t be able to fend off his machete.
What he needed to do was avoid getting wrapped up by it.
Lu Ke ran about a dozen meters away, then stopped to watch Xu Yi.
The giant python slithered in front of Xu Yi, then raised its head, flicked its tongue, and observed Xu Yi.
Suddenly, its tail whipped toward Xu Yi.
The speed was incredibly fast, Lu Ke even forgot to scream.
Xu Yi saw it, and his machete swung out.
At the moment the blade met the snake tail, Xu Yi saw the snake tail get severed directly.
Cut clean off, not a bit of suspense.
But a large section of the snake tail still slammed into Xu Yi, the immense impact sending Xu Yi flying.
Xu Yi flew three or four meters away, crashing heavily to the ground.
Then, he quickly stood up.
The giant python was rolling on the ground, hissing with the severed tail.
"Xu Yi."
Lu Ke shouted and prepared to run toward Xu Yi.
Xu Yi was hurt, there was no doubt. After all, being tossed so far, there’s no way he wasn’t injured.
"Don’t come over, I’m fine." Xu Yi heard the voice, knowing Lu Ke was about to come over.
"Phooey." Xu Yi spat out a mouthful of bloody water as his lips were cut.
Several places on his body hurt quite a lot.
Xu Yi grinned and stared at the giant python.
After the tail was severed, Xu Yi was no longer so afraid of it.
Initially worried, thinking he couldn’t handle it.
But after this encounter, Xu Yi felt confident.
The knife in his hand was indeed powerful.
If only it didn’t suck his blood, it would be even better.
However, in order to chop off this giant python, Xu Yi could only endure the intense pain in his palm, allowing it to suck his blood.
Thankfully, after only a minute or two, the machete stopped absorbing Xu Yi’s blood.
Lu Ke looked around and then used her dagger to cut down a small tree, split it open, and clamped her dagger into it, then she took some fine hemp rope from her backpack to secure the dagger.
She made a simple spear to bring over to Xu Yi.
Since the giant python’s tail could be severed by Xu Yi’s machete, it could naturally be pierced by her dagger.
"Xu Yi, for you." Lu Ke handed the simple spear she made to Xu Yi.
Xu Yi glanced at Lu Ke, then accepted the spear.
The giant python continued rolling around, Xu Yi kept his focus on it, so he hadn’t noticed Lu Ke approaching.
"Xu Yi’s knife is really an amazing cheat, only a laser weapon might compare with his knife, right?" Su Yan watched the machete in Xu Yi’s hand, her eyes filled with longing. She already knew how Xu Yi obtained the knife and could only say Xu Yi’s luck was very good.
If she got such a machete, she would probably fare well too, right?
"It seemed like the knife just sucked blood again." Yun Qing watched intently, noticing Xu Yi glanced at his holding hand with a slightly pained expression.
"Maybe the more it’s used, the greater the knife’s blood demand becomes. Ultimately, Xu Yi might not be able to endure it. After all, our ability to produce blood is very limited." Yun Qing said with concern.
As for the Calamity Python, Yun Qing felt it was no longer a threat.
With that incomparably sharp machete, many animals attacking Xu Yi would be fatally injured.
Of course, Xu Yi would also be injured.
The idea of a long knife was indeed very good.
If it were two meters long, Xu Yi could take the offensive without using it to the point of mutually assured destruction.
"Such a sharp knife, how could Xu Yi resist using it? Even if we knew using it more could be dangerous, we’d still be compelled to use it. What if you could keep using it for 500 days?" Su Yan said, feeling that once used, such thoughts would be even stronger.
Yun Qing nodded, then looked at the Calamity Python, saying helplessly, "I never thought it would be in the lake all along. But why, since we’re often by the lakeside, did it never attack us?"
