Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Incredibly Delicious

The meat inside is very tender, just as Xu Yi had speculated.

Xu Yi carefully peeled off the Scale Armor, figuring it would be useful to keep such tough scales.

As for whether they could make it into armor, that would depend on if they could catch more of these animals later.

After finishing the peeling, Xu Yi chopped up the meat and put it into the pot.

Lu Ke had already finished practicing the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening, washed up, and took over Xu Yi’s task to continue stewing the meat.

After Xu Yi practiced several rounds of the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening, a special aroma wafted out from the pot, incredibly enticing.

"Xu Yi, it really looks delicious. The broth is milky white," Lu Ke added some salt, couldn’t help but remark to Xu Yi. Then she picked up the ladle, ready to taste if it was salty enough.

"Wow, it’s so sweet. Xu Yi, come and have a taste, it’s so good!" Lu Ke’s eyes sparkled as she drank another spoonful of broth.

"Coming over. It does smell really nice," Xu Yi said as he walked over after splashing his face.

Lu Ke had prepared two bowls, and the two couldn’t wait to start eating.

"It’s truly delicious; this is the most flavorful meat soup I’ve ever had," Lu Ke quickly finished a bowl, licking her lips afterward.

"Yes, it’s indeed very good. After drinking it, my stomach feels particularly comfortable," Xu Yi agreed, feeling this was the best-tasting soup he’d had in a month.

The taste of the meat is better, somewhat like fish, and very springy.

Soon, the two of them had devoured all the meat and drank all the broth.

This hard-shelled animal didn’t have much meat, less than 4 pounds, just enough for one meal.

After eating and drinking to their fill, they still felt a bit unsatisfied.

After resting for nearly half an hour, the two geared up and went out.

This morning, they needed to go hunting.

"Let’s head to the right today, the left is Wang Jin and Lu Yao’s camp, so no need for us to explore there," Xu Yi suggested to Lu Ke, thinking that they might encounter fewer prey on the left and also possibly run into Wang Jin and Lu Yao.

"Alright, I’ll follow your lead," Lu Ke smiled sweetly, though she thought a little visit would be nice. She hadn’t been to other camps yet and was curious about the survival state in others’ camps.

So Xu Yi led Lu Ke towards the forest on the right.

Moreover, the right is where the Wild Grape Forest grows, and after hunting, they could pick grapes in the afternoon.

Thus, the two headed toward the forest to the right of the camp.

They brought enough dry food and cool boiled water, so they needn’t rush by midday and afternoon.

In the forest, the two didn’t walk fast, as they needed to explore the new environment.

Along the way, they encountered some small animals that looked something like mice. Such small animals weren’t really in Xu Yi and Lu Ke’s sights.

However, Xu Yi did attempt a few times, but didn’t hit any prey.

These animals were too agile and timid, disappearing at the slightest noise.

Other than that, they didn’t find any other animals.

After searching for a whole morning, Xu Yi and Lu Ke had lunch and then returned to the Wild Grape Forest to start picking wild grapes.

It took two trips for them to transport all the grapes back to the camp.

Due to the limited Pottery, they didn’t proceed to make wine but planned to dry them into raisins.

After all, grapes couldn’t be stored for long, but raisins could.

"Time flies so fast, it’s getting dark again," Lu Ke said, putting down the basket and glancing at the sky.

Today, besides bringing back four baskets of wild grapes, they had no other gains. Yet, the day had passed by.

"Yes, so surviving 500 days will go quickly too," Xu Yi chuckled, feeling today’s haul was quite decent.

Dried fruits can supplement a lot of vitamins.

Lu Ke nodded and rubbed her shoulder.

She herself didn’t expect she’d become so capable now, able to carry two baskets of grapes back to camp. Now she could say she was no longer a frail, weak lady.

The stronger her power grew, the more confidence she had.

These raisins didn’t need washing and could be dried directly. After all, the forest was clean, with very little dust.

Now they had to prepare drying mats since they couldn’t dry them on the ground and needed something underneath.

So Xu Yi thought of palm leaves.

Lu Ke was a skilled weaver, so weaving some thin mats from palm leaves was no problem.

Today wasn’t feasible, but tomorrow they could fetch some bundles of palm leaves together. Since they hadn’t caught a leopard, it was better to stick together.

For dinner, they ate some jerky.

After dinner, resting a bit, Xu Yi started peeling hemp fibers while Lu Ke continued making the second pottery jar. She had finished the first one, and once dried thoroughly, they could fire it.

And thus, a peaceful day passed.

Since they were abruptly woken up by noise around three a.m. the previous night, the two went to bed by nine o’clock.

With dawn came the start of their 32nd day.

After a simple breakfast, Xu Yi and Lu Ke headed out.

First, they checked the traps, then went to cut palm leaves.

At the same time, Wang Jin and Lu Yao also set out.

"Sis, we should have some luck by the seaside, right?" Wang Jin said while munching on jerky.

Their food supply could only last ten days, so they needed to gather more food for reserves, ideally shells or sea fish. After all, they hadn’t made any catches these days, so they could only try their luck at the shore.

"Hopefully, otherwise, we’ll need to expand our range," Lu Yao said, carrying a long bow, one she successfully made yesterday. Its power, though, didn’t compare to Xu Yi’s Hunting Bow.

"Sis, but didn’t you say expanding the range would overlap with Xu Yi’s hunting territory?" Wang Jin asked in confusion, recalling how her sister mentioned avoiding conflicts with Xu Yi’s group.

"There’s no choice. We must survive, so we have to expand the area," Lu Yao said, glancing in the direction of Xu Yi’s camp, hoping Xu Yi would understand.

What she didn’t know was that since the day they had met, Xu Yi had predicted they would clash over hunting spoils.

After all, the forest wasn’t very large, and the animal resources were quite limited.
