Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 185: Moral Coercion
Lynn Adler’s current state of mind can no longer be described as shocked.
Although she is trying hard to hold it together, her tightly clenched hand on the blanket still exposes her disbelief.
Silas Sutton, after speaking, doesn’t rush Lynn Adler for a response, instead keeping his head down, staring at the edge of the bed.
After a while, Lynn Adler clenched her hand, took a deep breath, and said, "Sutton, is what you said true?"
Silas Sutton lifted his head and smiled bitterly, "Auntie, I never lie in front of elders."
Lynn Adler choked up.
As the conversation between the two once again hit a stalemate, the door to the hospital room was suddenly pushed open from outside, and two elderly figures, hair streaked with gray, supported a gaunt young man as they walked in.
Before Lynn Adler and Silas Sutton could react, the three walked up to Silas Sutton and knelt down with a thud.
Witnessing this, Lynn Adler’s face suddenly darkened, "What are you doing?"
The elderly woman among them said, "President Sutton, I beg of you, save my son."
Upon finishing, she heavily bowed her head to Silas Sutton.
Not satisfied with just herself, she turned around and pulled the elderly man and the young man to bow together.
In the face of the three’s pleas, Silas Sutton sat in his chair, unmoved and silent.
It was Lynn Adler who glanced at Silas Sutton, worried about the negative impact on him, and said to the three kneeling on the ground, "If you have anything to say, get up and speak properly."
Once Lynn Adler finished speaking, the elderly woman began wiping her tears and crying, "Sister, you may not know me, I’m from the next room, my son just turned thirty this year, and he’s suffering from kidney failure..."
The woman sobbed, and Lynn Adler’s heart skipped a beat, recalling the words Stella Grant spoke to her earlier today.
The woman wiped her tears and said a lot to Lynn Adler, then turned her head to look at Silas Sutton again, "President Sutton, we know you have this capability, I beg you to save my son. Our family will repay you like a cow and horse in gratitude."
The commotion made by the three wasn’t small, and within a short few minutes, the doorway to Lynn Adler’s room was crowded with people watching the scene.
Some were purely there for the spectacle, while others harbored different hopes.
When Stella Grant and Ms. Dunn returned, the corridor outside the room was packed with people.
The two exchanged a glance, and Ms. Dunn stepped forward, pushing through the crowd to get inside.
"Make way, make way, this is our room."
"Please, everyone, please make way."
Ms. Dunn had a loud voice and considerable strength, and soon she managed to carve out a path.
Stella Grant followed closely behind, and the two entered one after another.
Stella Grant didn’t know the three people kneeling on the floor, but Ms. Dunn did, she frequents the place and is quite familiar with the affairs of the neighboring room.
Seeing the confusion in Stella Grant’s eyes, Ms. Dunn whispered to her, "The people from the next room, the ones I talked about with Adler before—the thirty-year-old guy with a young kid, whose wife left him..."
Upon hearing this, Stella Grant furrowed her brows, and she could roughly guess the situation in the room.
It was highly likely that this family heard of Silas Sutton’s presence here and were pleading for his help in securing a kidney source.
Stella Grant maintained a calm expression as she placed the fruit she was holding down, before turning to the three and bending down to assist the elderly woman, "Auntie, please stand up and let’s discuss."
The woman’s eyes were bloodshot, "I won’t get up. If President Sutton doesn’t agree to help me, I’ll keep kneeling here today."
With that said, she made to bow to Silas Sutton again.
Stella Grant blocked her gently, her palm resting against the woman’s forehead, "Auntie, this won’t solve any problems."
Stella Grant’s tone was gentle, yet her hand pressing against the woman’s forehead was firm.
Seeing that she couldn’t lower her head, the woman clung tightly to Stella Grant’s leg, "Miss Grant, please, you and President Sutton save my son. He’s so young, if anything happens to him, how will our family survive..."
The woman cried hysterically, clutching Stella Grant’s leg and refusing to let go.
Silas Sutton witnessed this and moved his long legs as if to stand, but Stella Grant caught his movement out of the corner of her eye and subtly shook her head at him.
Silas Sutton’s eyes darkened, the coldness evident in his brows.
Lynn Adler also saw Stella Grant’s gesture and quietly spoke to Silas Sutton, "Now is not the time to speak."
The nature of humanity is the most shameless and selfish.
You can never predict his limits and lowest points.
Although Stella Grant and Lynn Adler refrained Silas Sutton from speaking, he did not listen.
Silas Sutton slightly adjusted his watch on his cuff, and with a low voice, said, "Can I ask, who sent you to plea with me?"
