Life Simulation: My Talent Is Wool-Chapter 20: Between Realities
[In the blink of an eye, two days passed.]
In these last two days, Luan and Catharina moved while constantly passing through danger.
They avoided a confrontation against Lv2 ferocious animals three times. Luckily, as soon as they left the territory of those animals, they were not pursued, and finally, they arrived at their destination, sent a letter to Great Tree Village, and then took a boat to cross the river.
"Finally we’re at the starting point." Luan commented.
Catharina agreed: "Yes."
The last few days had been rushed. And, since they ended up in an area far from civilization, there were many Lv2 ferocious animals.
Normally Lv2s were dealt with by the inhabitants of villages or cities, after all, they not only represented a potential danger, but Lv2 animal meat was also very nutritious.
Most importantly, he managed to send the letter to Great Tree Village.
"This time, we shouldn’t encounter much danger on the way." Luan said: "We just need to follow the dirt road to Down City."
Catharina replied softly: "Mm."
On the other side of the river, they were left in front of the dirt road.
"Puah..."
Catharina, who had been holding back her transformation all this time, could finally let go.
In the blink of an eye, a pair of white fox ears appeared.
Her tails did not appear, since she was wearing a brown wool overcoat that went down to her ankles with buttons, thus preventing the two tails from showing, but it still created some bulk, looking a bit strange.
Her eyes didn’t change much, only her pupils became slit-shaped, giving a fiercer air, while at the same time attractive.
"You did well." Luan smiled at her.
Thinking of something, he brought his hands closer together, and soon a white cap began to be created. Drops of sweat started to run down his forehead. Creating an item directly from wool was more difficult than simply producing wool.
Not long after, the cap was finished being created by him: "It’s for you." He handed it over.
"For me?" Looking straight into his eyes, the corners of her lips rose a little, even her cold temperament softened a bit. She accepted the cap: "Thank you~"
The cap was white in color, and it helped conceal a good part of her face, even making it difficult to see her eyes, as well as helping to cover her pair of fox ears.
"It looks good on you." He praised, and asked: "Is it uncomfortable?"
"It doesn’t hurt. Actually, it’s quite pleasant to wear." Catharina replied. Her eyes shone, and her cheeks turned rosy.
After that, they began walking along the dirt road, carrying their full backpacks. Some things they had gathered in the forest, others they had bought in the village.
...
Almost two hours walking along the dirt road, not a single soul was found.
This road had not been used for a long time. Before, there was a bridge, but after dozens of times it was destroyed, they stopped trying to rebuild the bridge, thus reducing the frequency with which this road was used.
"This road is connected to other villages." Luan warned: "It shouldn’t take long before we come across other people."
Catharina understood his warning, saying: "I’ll be careful."
Chapter 20: Between Realities (continued)
She understood better than anyone the risk of being discovered as a demi-human.
"Actually..." Luan said cautiously: "I read in books that there are neutral cities outside this Empire. There, there is no prejudice against demi-humans. We can take the risk and go there when we become Lv2."
Despite the initial surprise upon hearing this, Catharina calmed down, saying in a cold and serene tone: "I will listen to you."
Seeing her like that, he said nothing more and silently held her hand.
Catharina was surprised at first, but she did not resist holding his hand. In fact, she felt an inexplicable happiness. It was different from when they were fleeing hand in hand. Now, she even felt a little shy.
Suddenly, Luan felt his consciousness fading away.
It was a familiar sensation...
’Who is it this time?’
...
On Earth, sitting on the living room sofa, Luan opened his eyes.
His mind began to spin.
It took him two seconds to adapt.
On the sofa, his smartphone was vibrating.
Picking it up, he opened it.
Mom: [Luan, Karen got hurt and because of that, I need to cover her shift.]
Mom: [Ah, there’s frozen food in the fridge. I’ll eat at work, if you don’t want frozen food, you can order a pizza or something like that.]
After finishing reading, he replied: [Okay, then, I’ll order a pizza.]
’I should encourage Mom to change jobs.’ He thought: ’They got used to having her cover shifts. Always so dependent on her. She even got used to it herself...’
Getting up from the sofa, he went to the bathroom.
It was still early, and since he was already there, he did not return to the Book of a Thousand Lives.
...
After taking a shower, Luan saw his reflection in the mirror.
Honestly, the time he spent training had paid off.
Every trace of his muscles was becoming more and more perfectly sculpted.
Even his face looked more presentable.
Leaving the bathroom, he got ready.
A few minutes later, he was leaving the house.
Now, he was wearing black dress pants and a white button-up dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows.
On his right wrist was a not-very-sophisticated watch showing 16:49 in the afternoon.
’There’s still time.’
*Beep-beep*
Looking at the smartphone screen, he confirmed it was the rideshare driver who had just arrived.
Opening the door and closing it behind him, Luan walked to the gate.
"Luan Armstrong?" The rideshare driver asked. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Looking at the woman who was driving a silver Corolla, he nodded: "That’s right."
Then, Luan went and opened the back door: "Good afternoon."
"Good afternoon." She replied with a simple smile.
Soon, she started the car, leaving the place, following the route on the GPS.
Luan stayed on his smartphone, noticing that she was not interested in making conversation.
Minutes later, he arrived at his destination; there was a large sign at the entrance that read: [Regional Hospital]
