Life In The Limelight : I Married A Gamer Girl-Chapter 42: Stormy Cuddles
Chapter 42 - Stormy Cuddles
The morning started like any other. Kazuma and Masako sat in their home office, deep into their work. Kazuma was refining mechanics for Mori Adventure, while Masako sketched costume designs for the Exaslia DLC. The sound of steady rain tapping against the windows created a cozy atmosphere, but neither of them noticed the dark clouds rolling in, signaling a brewing storm.
By mid-afternoon, the rain turned heavier, accompanied by occasional rumbles of thunder. Masako glanced out the window, her golden eyes narrowing as lightning flashed across the sky. "Looks like it's going to be a rough one," she remarked, setting her sketchpad aside for a moment.
Kazuma, his light blue eyes fixed on his screen, barely acknowledged her comment. "As long as the power doesn't go out, we should be fine," he said, his tone distracted.

Almost as if on cue, a deafening clap of thunder shook the house, and the lights flickered before plunging the room into darkness. Kazuma sighed, leaning back in his chair. "Well, that's just perfect."
Masako giggled, her golden eyes sparkling with amusement despite the situation. "You really jinxed us there, dear."
Kazuma turned to her, his light blue eyes softening as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Looks like we're stuck until the power comes back. Guess I can't argue with fate."
Masako stood, stretching before walking over to him. "If we can't work, then we might as well take this as a sign to relax," she said, her voice playful. "Come on, let's go grab some blankets and make the best of it."
The couple retreated to the living room, gathering every soft blanket and pillow they could find. Masako took charge of building a makeshift nest on the couch, arranging everything until it was impossibly cozy. Kazuma couldn't help but chuckle as he watched her.
"You're really enjoying this, aren't you?" he asked, shaking his head.
"Of course," Masako replied with a grin. "How often do we get an excuse to just lounge around and cuddle all day?"
Kazuma smiled, his light blue eyes warm as he sat down beside her. "Fair point. Alright, sweetie, you win."
Masako wasted no time snuggling up to him, draping a blanket over both of them as she rested her head on his chest. "See? Isn't this nice?" she murmured, her voice soft.
Kazuma wrapped an arm around her, his hand gently brushing her dark brown hair. "Yeah," he admitted, his voice just as quiet. "It's... really nice."
The sound of rain pelting against the windows filled the room, accompanied by the occasional rumble of thunder. Despite the storm outside, the atmosphere inside felt peaceful and warm. Masako shifted slightly, her golden eyes glancing up at Kazuma with a playful glint.
"You know," she began, "you've been working so hard lately. I think this is exactly what you needed—a forced break."
Kazuma chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "Maybe you're right. I didn't realize how much I needed this."
Masako smiled, reaching up to trace small circles on his chest with her finger. "You never realize it until I make you slow down. Good thing you have me, huh?"
"Good thing, indeed," Kazuma replied, his light blue eyes filled with affection. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Masako tilted her head, a mischievous grin forming on her lips. "You'd probably still be sitting at your desk, stressing over code and forgetting to eat. So, yeah, you're lucky I'm here."
Kazuma laughed softly, his chest vibrating beneath her. "You're not wrong."
The hours slipped by as they stayed curled up together, their conversations ranging from silly jokes to heartfelt reflections. Masako told him about a funny story from her childhood, and Kazuma shared an idea for a potential new character in Mori Adventure. They laughed, teased, and simply enjoyed each other's company.
At one point, the storm outside intensified, causing the windows to rattle slightly. Masako instinctively snuggled closer to Kazuma, who tightened his hold on her. "Don't worry," he said reassuringly. "It's just a storm. We're safe in here."
"I know," Masako replied softly, her golden eyes closing as she rested her head against him. "I just like being close to you, dear."
Kazuma smiled, resting his chin on the top of her head. "I like it too."
As the evening wore on, the storm began to quiet, and the house remained dark and silent. Masako yawned, stretching slightly under the blanket. "This might be one of the best days we've had in a while," she said, her voice tinged with contentment. "No work, no stress—just us."
Kazuma nodded, his light blue eyes soft. "Yeah. It's been a while since we've had a day like this. I didn't realize how much I missed just... being with you."
Masako grinned, poking his chest playfully. "Then let's make a deal—when the power comes back, we won't rush straight back to work. We'll keep relaxing for the rest of the night."
Kazuma raised an eyebrow, pretending to think it over. "Hmm... tempting offer. What's in it for me?"
Masako leaned up, pressing a soft kiss to his lips before settling back into his arms. "That," she said with a smirk.
Kazuma laughed, shaking his head. "You drive a hard bargain, sweetie. Deal."
They stayed on the couch until late into the night, the warmth of their embrace and the soothing sound of the rain lulling them into a peaceful state. When the power eventually flickered back on, neither of them noticed. For Kazuma and Masako, the storm had become a blessing in disguise—a reminder to slow down, appreciate the moment, and cherish the love they shared.
