Chapter 86: 86. Morning After Bonds

The next day, Rick was already awake while staring at the rooftop. His mind was empty, but he keeps filling it with many thoughts that came from his own mouth.

"Mother... Father... Friends... Everyone..."

"Do you see me now?"

"Do you see the man I’ve become?"

"I, Rick Rolland, have ascended into the peaks of manhood by fucking a milf dragon and a widow milf." Rick smirks while closing both his eyes, where he remembers the intensive sex he had with Sylvia and Carmilla.

"Suck that, all of you, assholes!"

"Who says that fantasy can’t come true?! And now look at me...! I’ve fucked two MILFs, and there’s still more coming!" Rick sits on the bed while clenching both his fists full of victory.

His eyes immediately shifted towards Carmilla, who’s still sleeping. "Hoh~ Still sleeping like a beauty, huh, Carmilla..."

"That’s bad, you know? You’re all defenseless." Rick starts twitching all his fingers while trying to get closer to her so that he can touch her in every spot.

"Mmmm..." Carmilla slowly opens her eyes.

Carmilla turned to look at him, and even though she was relaxed, her face was serious. "Rick...?"

Rick was shocked seeing her wake up so fast when he was so close to touching her tits, but then he started lying next to her while using his arms as a pillow. "Morning, Carmilla."

Carmilla started to blush, remembering the intense love she felt yesterday that feels like a dream for her. "Um... about what happened last night..."

"What’s wrong...?"

"It’s... too intense... and... it seems like we went overboard by talking about my dead husband."

"I’m so sorry! It’s just that when I do that kind of thing... my primal instinct always takes over me that I’ll always do something unthinkable!"

"I-It’s okay... it’s just that... maybe next time... don’t try to be too rough on me, okay? I’m still a human, and I don’t want to die just because I got fucked by a dragon’s cock."

"Y-Yes! Do you wish you hadn’t done it?" Rick asked, his heart racing with worry.

"No," Carmilla said firmly as she took his hands. "Not at all."

"I just wanted to let you know that I meant what I said... I love you." Carmilla smiles.

"Really...?!" Rick squeezed her hands and said, "I love you too."

Carmilla smiled and leaned in to kiss him gently. "Now help me put on my clothes. We really need to show up before people start looking for us."

...

Rick felt something change in their relationship as they got ready. The connection felt different this time, with a new warmth. It felt like layers of safety were wrapping around him.

[UNBREAKABLE BOND EVOLUTION COMPLETE]

[NEW ABILITIES UNLOCKED]

Sebastian showed up on the bedside table with a dramatic sigh. "At last... I thought you two would never stop getting closer to each other emotionally."

"Sebastian," Rick groaned. "Can you stop appearing out of nowhere? Any privacy for us here!?"

Sebastian said, "You had twelve hours of privacy," and fixed his tiny monocle. "Now listen up. Your Unbreakable Bond with Carmilla has changed and given you four new powers, just like when you finish with Sylvia."

"Now that’s what I’m waiting for!"

"Let’s see what kind of abilities I get so that I can become even stronger." Rick punched his own fist.

The little butler held up one finger. "First, Guardian’s Instinct."

"You now have a sense of danger for all of your bonded partners who are within 500 meters of you."

"You’ll also be able to tell if someone is trying to hurt them."

Rick said under his breath, "That could have been helpful two days ago."

Sebastian raised a second finger. "Second, Unbreakable Will."

"You can’t be affected by fear or mental manipulation anymore. You also get 30% more mental resistance and can’t be stunned while you’re actively protecting other people."

Carmilla’s eyes got bigger. "That’s actually kind of useful if a woman tries to stun Rick and take him away."

"Nah... no way I’ll let that happen. (I sure am, will)." Rick giggled.

"Third," Sebastian said, holding up a third finger, "Knight’s Endurance."

"Your stamina heals twenty-five percent faster, you feel less tired, and you can keep fighting for much longer."

"Does that mean—"

"No!" Sebastian already knew what Rick was about to say.

Sebastian raised his fourth finger with a flourish and said, "And the last one is Resonant Shield."

"You can call up a spectral crimson barrier that will stop one deadly attack every ten minutes."

"You can use it on yourself or on any ally who is within ten meters. The strength goes up as your bond gets deeper."

Rick looked at the little butler. "Those are all wonderful skills."

Sebastian said, "They’re tools for survival."

"You’ll need them after what just happened."

"Put on some clothes and go to the interrogation now. For hours, Fredrich and the Guildmaster have been questioning those Shadow Covenant prisoners."

Rick and Carmilla looked at each other. Their peaceful morning bubble burst, and reality came crashing back in.

"Let me go with you," Carmilla said as she reached for her armor.

Rick immediately rejects her in a kind but firm way. "You just got back from being taken hostage."

"Take a break today."

"Rick—"

Rick said, "Please," and held her face. "I can tell from our bond that your body is still healing."

"It’s not just sore from yesterday. It’s the fatigue from everything you’ve been through that has built up."

Carmilla looked like she wanted to argue, but she could tell that Rick really cared about her health through their Unbreakable Bond. She sighed and nodded, but not happily.

"Okay... but you’re bringing Natasha and Liora with you." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Rick promised, "I will," and kissed her forehead. "And you’ll always know where I am."

Carmilla smiled a little. "Yeah... there are good things about this Unbreakable Bond."

"And also..." Carmilla notices the slight change on her legs where she can’t move freely because of the sore feeling she got between her thighs. "...seems like I can’t really come at all after last night."

"O-Ohh! Yeah... I messed you up really good... I’m sorry." Rick blushed hearing that.

Rick got dressed quickly and left the medical wing of the Divine Temple. He reached out through his bond network to find Natasha as he walked down the hallways.

She was in the guild building, and her emotional signature was sharp and focused, but there was something else going on underneath it. Maybe it was anxiety or worry.

...

He found her in one of the guild building’s private meeting rooms on the third floor. Natasha stood by the window, looking down at the street below with her ice-blue eyes. When Rick came in, she didn’t turn.

Natasha said, "They’re waiting for you in the interrogation room." Her voice was as cold and calm as ever.

"Floor three in the basement."

"I know," Rick said as he closed the door. "Sebastian told me."

"So why are you here instead of there?"

"Because I wanted to see how you were doing first."

Natasha finally looked at him. Rick could feel the turmoil beneath the surface through their Spirit Bond, even though her face was completely blank.

She was keeping herself together with willpower alone. Natasha said, "I’m fine."

"No, you’re not."

"Rick—"

Rick walked closer and said, "I can feel it, Natasha."

"Through the bond... I know you’re afraid."

Natasha looked away. "I’m not scared."

Rick said softly, "Everyone gets scared. Even you."

Natasha then stared at him for a long time, her face changed a little bit. "They took Carmilla," Natasha said, her voice still calm but with an edge to it.

"Carmilla Crimson. The veteran warrior who protected Thornwick. They can take any of us if they can take her."

Rick reached for her hand, but Natasha pulled it back a little. "Don’t," she said.

"If you are nice to me right now, I will completely lose my cool, and we have an interrogation to go to."

Rick respected her space and put his hand down. "Then, after the interrogation. This is what we’re going to talk about after it."

Natasha nodded stiffly. "Agreed."

In silence, they went down to the basement level. The interrogation room was very protected, and Rick could hear the magical barriers humming in the walls.

Fredrich and Guildmaster Roderick were sitting at a long table inside. Eight Shadow Covenant prisoners were shackled and kept in separate cells along one wall.

"Oh, Rick," Fredrich said as they walked in. "Good timing. We were just about to start the final round of questions."

Rick sat down at the table, and Natasha stood behind him with her hand on the back of his chair. Rick could tell that she was carefully looking at everything in the room because they were connected.

Roderick pointed to the prisoners. "We’ve learned a lot from them in the last few hours."

"What we’ve found out is very upsetting."

"How bad is it?" Rick asked.

Fredrich leaned forward, looking serious. "The Shadow Covenant is far larger than we initially thought."

"They have branches in every major city across the continent. This cell that attacked Carmilla was just one of dozens."

Rick felt like his stomach was going to drop. "How many people are we talking about?"

"Maybe hundreds, maybe thousands," Roderick said. "They’ve been working in secret for years, slowly getting into guilds, noble houses, merchant companies, and even some government jobs."

"What the fuck do they want?" Rick asked, even though he thought he knew the answer.

Fredrich took out a notebook that was full of information. "Multiple prisoners have said that their main goal is to take over the Seven Major Powers."

"They believe they can create a puppet network by capturing key individuals, which is you, and forcing you to form Spirit Bonds with all seven of them while you are under duress."

Rick said, "They want to rule the world through me."

"Yes, basically," Fredrich said. "With you as their controlled puppet, connected to all seven Major Powers, they could effectively command the most powerful beings on the continent."

Natasha’s grip on the back of Rick’s chair got tighter. Rick felt a surge of cold rage through the bond.

Roderick said in a serious tone, "There’s more."

"They know where the corruption comes from."

"All of it, starting with the magical barriers falling down and the monsters getting more powerful."

Rick bent over. "Do they know what’s going on?"

Fredrich said, "More than that. We think they might be working with whatever is making things corrupt."

The room got quiet. Rick could feel Natasha’s anger turn into cold, hard logic.

"Is there any evidence?" Natasha asked in a sharp voice.

Fredrich pointed to one of the prisoners, a woman in her 40s with a scar across her throat. "Prisoner seven."

"Tell them what you told us about the research on corruption."
