Chapter 132: You Have Seen The Hollow Between All Things

Elias reached forth for the third line of the void scripture art, and expecting that the impact of this line might be greater than the second, he took a moment to brace himself.

He noted that the Void Echo that was holding him seemed a bit faded. The darkness of its scaly body had become dimmer, and its colors no longer were part of the night but were approaching dusk.

Inside the second part of his mind, he could still see that the Void Echo was focused on his form that was traveling to the sky, chasing the representation of his talent that he could never reach.

Now that he had absorbed a part of this creature, he understood that time was almost meaningless to it.

Elias had the void attribute, and his Wisp was called an Ageless Echo, and this name was not meaningless. If he could somehow find a way to live as an Echo, the ravages of time would be meaningless to him.

It was the reason why the Void Echo had been patiently following the journey of Elias to the sky, and there seemed to be an unhealthy fascination and desire for this talent of his. Like a mayfly who had seen the sun in all of its glory, this Echo had become transfixed.

This was good news for him, because Elias did not know how long he would be able to deceive the Void Echo.

Bracing himself for whatever he would find, Elias whispered the next lines.

Null’vorr shal’eth nul’vorr shal’eth

Embrac’tu contrad’ix vor’gath nul’vorr

Nothing devours nothing, nothing births nothing

Embrace the contradiction that is the only truth

He had braced himself for any changes that were to come, and yet, it was nearly not enough.

As always, a transformation happened on his Ageless Echo. Previously, he was a humanoid blob that was roughly the size of his main body, but with the third verse of his scripture, the devouring force from his Echo dramatically increased, and the humanoid blob continued to expand until it was the same size as the Void Echo.

Now the Void Echo no longer held Elias; they were now standing with their hands connected to each other as if they were holding hands.

From behind Elias’s Ageless Echo came a mass growth like a tumor, and if he was not wrong, it was the nascent form of wings, although Elias, as he looked at the wings of the Void Echo, which was nothing but arms fused together, wondered if he was fully transforming into this creature, and if it would affect his physical form and not just this Echo inside his consciousness.

Inside his head, he saw memories of battle. The battles did not come frequently, but when they did, they were incredibly brutal, so that Elias even flinched at some of the memories.’

This Void Echo may not be the most powerful monster out there, but there was something about it that made even other Void Creatures wary of it, and for the few that did not fear it, the ensuing battle that took place went on for what Elias would think of as centuries.

The thought of fighting unceasingly for that long was frightening, and yet for this creature, this was normal. From the vision he was seeing, Elias knew that he was greatly outmatched, and if not for this battle being pushed into his mental space, there was no way he would have been able to survive this creature.

Perhaps if he had fully excavated the powers of his legacy and reached the peak of Fury Forge while gaining a high number of attributes from his Elder Talent, there may be a slight chance he could win, but still, Elias doubted it. How could he not? In one of the visions, the battle between this creature and a foe had decimated an entire continent!

The fight had taken millennia, but that only made it more frightening. It was as if this creature had unlimited stamina, and it could somehow absorb energy from its surroundings.

Even recalling some of the powers wielded by this Void Echo’s opponents was frightening, but in the memory, there seemed to be one foe that this creature feared above all, and for most of it, this creature was fleeing from it.

What was odd was that the knowledge of this enemy was vague, but it seemed to be a being of many faces, and if Elias was not wrong, it was also a carrier of a Void Scripture, maybe even more than one scripture!

As these thoughts passed through his head, he noticed that the Void Echo was beginning to struggle. Elias must have drained so much of its essence that it was about to awaken.

He should slow down and digest what he had already collected, but Elias had seen enough memory of this creature that he knew slowing down would be a mistake. Even with everything he had drained, there was still something tangible that was still missing, and he was not the match of the Void Echo.

In the first part of his mind that was replaying the memory of him flying to the cracked moon, suddenly froze, and Elias knew that the gambit was over and he had been discovered.

A sharp pain tore through his mind as a third of it suddenly went dark. It was not as if he had lost it, but the mind of the Void Echo had forcefully tore himself out of it.

The Void Echo had no eyes, but after so much of its memories had been assimilated by Elias, he knew that the eyes of the creature were not on its head but its wings.

All of the arms fused together had eyes at the center of their palms, and now those eyes were all turned to Elias, and he could sense the beginning of a pressure building up inside the creature that Elias knew would erupt like a massive volcano, and everything around him would be shredded to nothing for hundreds of miles.

A red glow was arising from its chest, and feeling a growing sensation of doom filled his senses that was not natural, and was supposed to freeze Elias in place. He had seen the creature kill many beings stronger than it when using this aura, but perhaps Elias had taken more from it than expected because it did not make him freeze, only filled his heart with fear, and fear would not stop him from saying out the final lines of his void scripture.

The mouth of his Ageless Echo tore open, and this time, the scripture was not read inside Elias’s mind; instead, it was his Ageless Echo that was speaking, and its voice, newly born and coming from a throat that was rapidly imitating the body of a creature born in the darkness between the stars, was horrifying.

Hol’low mon’arx vuul’gath

Contayn’thul vuul’gath contayn’thul

Zhul’kathar vor neth’lyss... neth’lyss... neth’lyss... 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

The Hollow Monarch claims what cannot be claimed

Contain the uncontainable, contain the uncontainable

In the hollow between all things... between all things... between all things...

Every syllable that emerged from the mouth of the Ageless Echo caused the Void Echo to shiver, and at the end, it opened its jaws and began to scream.

The sound was strange because it sounded like laughter mixed with pain. Its body began to shrink as the massive tumor behind Elias’s Ageless Echo exploded into wings. However, the glow from the chest of the shrinking creature did not subside; instead, it was growing brighter.
