Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 81: The Flock’s Fall
"Shhh, it’s ok now; we are here for you," Aoni whispered as he felt the bird tremble and sob. From his lap, Glacia did her best to comfort her new little sister…even if the bird was technically older, she had been summoned first and thus was the older one, or so she believed.
Either way, Glacia wanted to be a firm support for the weeping bird, as while she couldn’t sense its emotions, the sorrowful chirps and chees partnered with the trembling were more than enough for the fluff ball to get what was going on.
Aoni wasn’t about to try and tell her otherwise either; closing his eyes and calmly running his hand over the smooth white feathers, he simply sat there and let his new summon cry her heart out as a flash of images and emotions flooded his brain.
It was like watching a muted video that skipped at random intervals; in the first scene, there was a flock filled with beautiful birds, similar yet different to the one he was holding. Some were large enough to blot out the sky, while others were the size of a school bus, and from what he could understand, they lived a life free and unchained by mortal restraints.
The sky was their domain, and even the icy tundra below wasn’t able to restrain their might; however, be it the land or air, these creatures were no doubt supremes of their terrain.
Yet, even with their might unchallenged, for many generations, one day, that all changed. At first, it was storm clouds coming from the north, but then, from the south, emerged a land filled with volcanos, and with their emergence came two new races, one born of fire and the other of lightning.
Sandwiched between two new forces, the Flock’s peaceful days turned to chaos, as while the creatures born of lightning were manageable, the creatures born of flames were a natural predator and counter to the Flock.
Day by day, Elementalized Energia flew as the wars scaled up, and with each explosion or beam of concentrated Energia, bodies fell, and the lands were coated with the blood of the fallen.
For years, this was the norm: friends, family, allies, the bloodshed never discriminated, and after nearly a thousand years of ceaseless battle, the first change occurred, as humanoid creatures, unlike the three races, stepped into the Tri-Elementalized Lands.
Through the images seen by Aoni, he could tell what these new beings were: humans, beast humans, draconian, all manners of humanoid beings emerged one by one, targeting one or more of the powerful races.
Although things were difficult between the three elementalized races, they were powerful enough to fight to a standstill; however, with the new variable added into the mix, that balance shifted dramatically.
Since the creatures were considered valuable resources due to the high Energia content of their bodies, every ounce of them could garner vast wealth, and like that, nothing was safe.
Be it born of Flames, Lightning, or Ice, they were hunted, captured, mutilated, and ripped away from their families.

One by one, the numbers of each Race dropped off, and with their bloodlines thinning, the once mighty creatures were in a steep decline.
In comes the little one weeping into Aoni’s chest.
Through the memories and emotions, a picture of devastation and sorrow was painted, one in which she was fleeing destruction with what little remained of her family before tragedy struck.
Right before her young eyes, her parents were slaughtered by beings Aoni couldn’t recognize due to their shadowy façade.
He could hear their laughter as they shredded and harvested materials from the once proud birds larger than a city bus before turning their sights on his summon.
The last thing he saw of these figures was them holding a cage of some sort and laughing manically as they captured the baby bird.
After that scene, she changed hands many times, as the original group sold her off to some rich person, but her presence seemed to be coveted by many. Every time she appeared to be settled, the same instance would occur time and time again: his summon was kidnapped while her owners were killed.

Rinse, wash, repeat.
Some of her captures weren’t bad; they would treat her as well as a normal Terrian does their pets, but others abused her, beating and starving the small bird only to end up losing her.
The longer Aoni immersed in these memories, the more his heart hurt for the little one continuously bawling her eyes out without reservation.
’She’s been through a lot, and at such a young age to boot.’ The lad could tell she desperately wanted to belong; it was clear in the actions she would take with the people who owned her in the past.
She tried to be a good girl, obedient and smart as she was; she did her best to make them like her; at least if they did, she wouldn’t be beaten again like others had done.
But no matter how hard she tried, things always ended up the same, with her on the move and the person who controlled her being slaughtered.
Until…
"Tsss," resisting the urge to grunt aloud, Aoni was assaulted by a sharp pain in his temples as the images he was viewing shattered and vanished into the void.
’Damn, I thought I would have more time since she’s a Three-Star summon, but it looks like that is everything she remembers. It’s like there is a barrier separating her mind from them, but even so, they are traumatic enough to weigh on her conscious mind still, even though they’ve been wiped.
Either because of the memories being sealed or because she had tired herself out from crying, the small bird’s chirps and tears slowed until, eventually, her breathing regulated, and it was clear that she had fallen asleep.
By this point, Glacia was now sitting beside him and no longer in Aoni’s lap, so with a simple look and a flick of his head, Aoni signaled that he was going to bring her to the bedroom and that she should stay with the bird for comfort.
