Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 170 : First Friend Acquired…Unfortunately
"Dude shut up, I'm into girls, okay, damn it, I just don't do well with people, it's easier being alone." Cupping both hands over Damien's mouth and shoving him backward a bit, Aoni's eyes darted around to see if anyone had heard this loud-mouthed idiot saying dumb things aloud.
"MmMmmMm MMmm MmMM SLURRPP." With his face covered, Damien struggled to speak, only for it to come out as muffled noises, leading him to use his Secret Technique.
A dark and forbidden skill that all younger siblings have at some point used on their elders, the dreaded and Infamous Dark Technique!!!
"Did you just fucking LICK MY HAND? You Sick Fuck, How OLD ARE YOU? SEVEN?" Reeling back, releasing Damien, and nearly falling over the edge of the couch all at the same time, Aoni screeched in an aggravated whisper so as not to draw attention to himself.
"Hey man, if it works, it works. It was either that or bite," Shrugging his shoulders and wiping the saliva off his face with the back of his hand, Damien's pink eyes shimmered with amusement.
"Disgusting, blegh, gross," furiously rubbing his hand on his pants, Aoni flicked his bangs out of his face and glared at Damien with enough intensity to cause the young man's smile to drop away.
"Chill dude, it was just a joke. No need to get all defensive and look at me like you wanna rip my head off…anyway, the whole reason I came over here was cause I'm in a similar boat to you, no friends and all, not for lack of trying though."
"Sure, sure, not for lack of trying," rolling his eyes and settling back down on the couch, Aoni studied Damien, not only his attire but posture and body language as well.
'He practically radiates the "Young master" vibe. His posture indicates a strict upbringing, probably from one of the larger families, and his armor, along with that ring on his right hand, and the high-tech smartwatch on his left wrist, indicate wealth.'
"I'm serious, dude; I don't expect anyone else to get it; what I deal with on a regular basis is… stifling." As he spoke, Damien's eyes seemed to drift out of focus for a moment, only to be dragged back down to reality by Aoni's following statement.
"Says the guy wearing armor more expensive than my family's entire yearly budget,"
"Ah…shit, my bad man, I didn't mean to offend you, look there's a reason I'm sitting all by myself too, you see I have this uncanny habit of.." before Damien could finish that statement, Aoni cut him off and finished it for him.
"Saying whatever is on your mind, yeah, already figured that one out with your latest assumption; listen, I don't know you, and given the fact that I come from a low-middle-class family, I can't really relate to what kind of problems you've been through either."
"I mean, we are both Orange-Cards, so that's something, right? How bout we start over? Heyah, I'm Damien Cheshire; my hobbies include swimming and making epic videos on TheirTube; sure, my family has some money, but I'm an only child, so it all got directed at me instead of spread out." Thrusting his hand forward, Damien's eyes reflected the desperation hidden from others, as if he truly wanted someone to call a friend.
There was no malice or haughty attitude in those eyes, just a curious wonder, which reflected a life walking alongside one of Aoni's dearest friends, depression.
There's a saying that says those who have been hurt the most can see the signs in others. Although Damien was boisterous, annoying, and no doubt bound to be a headache and a half worth of trouble, Aoni still found his hand moving forward before his brain could react as if his subconscious was telling him, "Eh, why not,"
"Aoni Thurston, er, as for hobbies, I guess making model kits, mainly Garndom's, and reading."
"GREAT! I finally have my first friend; ah, almost forgot, hey Aoni, let's trade contact info…so…that…we, what's that look for?" Beaming with pride because, unknown to a certain Ash-Blond Lad, he'd become Damien's very first friend, the young man began babbling as usual, then slowly trailed off when he noticed the embarrassed expression on Aoni's face.

"I don't own a phone or fancy watch like yours," Scratching his left shoulder, Aoni refused to look at Damien, not because he was embarrassed, but because he knew that look, that look of pity directed at the poor by the rich, it was either that or disdain, neither of which he felt like dealing with right now.
"Just that? Terra to Aoni, did you forget that you're a Traveler Now, an Orange-Tier one at that! Bro, after our results get posted, we can just go up to the seventh floor and get you a Communicator for F-R-E-E that Spells FREEE~." Wiggling his arms like a weirdo, Damien smiled like a goofy fool, but it wasn't this action that caught Aoni off guard but instead…the fact he'd overlooked something so obvious.
"Would you believe me if I said I forgot about that…"
"Actually, yeah, I would, all things considered; besides, I don't know how much you brought back with you, but it should have been enough to cover your Loan, right…or did I get it wrong that you were on government assistance?" Tiptoeing around the subject because he didn't wanna upset his new bestie, Damien carefully prodded to get a better understanding of the situation.
"Sigh, we just met Damien, and I am not comfortable spilling everything about myself to someone I have known for less than 15 minutes."
"Bah, what's 15 minutes but a lifetime if put in slow-mo? I mean, look at it in Dog years; we have clearly been friends for WEEKS in that scenario." Damien interjected, causing Aoni to stare at the young man with a scrunched-up face.
"I'm not a mathematician, but I'm pretty sure it's a 1-7 ratio, so how do 15 minutes equal weeks…"
"BAHH semantics, don't mind all that," with a snort and a wave of his hand, Damien was about to continue his routine when suddenly his watch went off.
DEET DEET DEET, DEET DEET DEET!
"Oh, Results for exams concluded in the last hour just got posted; come on, I'm sure yours got posted too!" Jumping up and grabbing Aoni by the arm, Damien dragged him along to check the closest screen.
