Legendary FBI Detective-Chapter 77: The Action Begins (Seeking Collection! Seeking Follow-up!)
The next day, at 5 AM before sunrise, Luo An yawned as he left Mona's small apartment and drove the Chevrolet to one of today's joint operation sites:
the villa of a Hyena Gang boss.
Yesterday, the system rated Luo An as [Good], and the treasure chest yielded [Stamina Potion x2, Strength Potion x1]. At the moment, Luo An's system backpack contained [Stamina Potion x7, Fire Resist Potion x1, Night Vision Potion x2, Aquatic Breathing Potion x1, Strength Potion x3, Swiftness Potion x1, Antidote x1, Weakness Potion x1, Sleep Potion x1].
"Good morning, Luo An."
Upon the Chevrolet's arrival at the staging area far from the villa, Reid approached with a bag of breakfast and said with a smile:
"I thought you would come after the operation was over."
"I planned to, but Augustus kept calling me, so I had to come early."
Luo An took the breakfast and thanked Reid. After taking a big bite, he stood with Reid beside the Chevrolet, quietly observing the group of operatives busy arranging their equipment in the distance.
"I don't quite understand."
Reid quickly finished his breakfast and, wiping his hands, pointed to the people nearby and asked, tilting his head:
"This is a joint operation between the Organized Crime Investigation Division and the DEA, with so many people already, why do they need us to participate?"
"We aren't really part of the operation; we're just supposed to follow behind them and fire a few shots for show."
After devouring his breakfast, Luo An gestured for Reid to come a bit closer and then whispered in his ear:
"Augustus was chatting with Dillon after work yesterday and found out about the drugs and raw materials the Hyena Gang has been stockpiling recently, which, according to the undercover informant, could be worth nearly ten million US dollars.
Of course, the Organized Crime Division and DEA have been watching the Hyena Gang for so long, we can't swoop in now and take the big prize, nor should we.
But we did alert them to the bomb yesterday, and Sean's presence also gives us a reason to get involved.
So Augustus's intention is very simple: if we can't get the lion's share, we shouldn't let the small fish slip away. As long as both of us participate in the operation, Augustus will have a reason to demand a share of the spoils later on."
They definitely won't get much of the money, but the political gain from cracking such a big case is far more important than the cash.
As long as the news later mentions Unit Five, Augustus will have made no loss.
If Augustus makes no loss, then Luo An definitely won't either.
"Alright."
Reid nodded silently, and noticing it was about time, started to get their gear in order with Luo An.
This time, their weapons weren't limited to the Glock 18 pistols; they also added M4A1 assault rifles.
Apart from the standard combat uniform, plate carrier vests, tactical helmets, stun grenades, and smoke grenades, they also added tear gas grenades and hand grenades.
Luo An took fewer hand grenades but as many tear gas grenades as stun grenades.
"..."
Agent Norton from the Organized Crime Investigation Division saw the fully armed Luo An and Reid and was somewhat speechless.
They were just agents, not front-liners; breaching was SWAT's job.
Before setting out today, Dillon had told Norton the source of yesterday's bomb tip-off was Luo An, and that they'd be joining the operation as well, so today Norton was in a good mood, leading a few people over with a smile:
"Good morning, Agent Luo An, didn't expect we'd have the chance to work together so soon."
"Just call me Luo An."
Luo An reached out for a handshake with a grin:
"Today's operation is up to you guys; Reid and I are just here for support."
The message was simple: We're not here to steal your thunder.
Hearing Luo An's words, Norton and his teammates' eyes lit up, feeling that Luo An's handsome face instantly became even more dashing.
In a matter of minutes, Luo An had become good brothers from different units and different investigation groups with Norton and his team members.
Leyde: "..."
Time flew by swiftly, and the hands on the clock soon reached six in the morning, when the coordinated operation was scheduled to commence.
From the distant Joint Command Center, upon seeing the time hit six o'clock, Dillon from the Organized Crime Investigation Division and Meldon from the DEA glanced at each other and simultaneously said into the microphone:
"Commence the operation!"
As their words ended, at various locations including the mansion of the Hyena Gang leader, a large bar, a factory, a dock, and others, agents who had been waiting long into the night, now charged forth all at once.
Since there might have been remote-controlled bombs in the possession of the Hyena Gang, each team had activated signal jammers before they moved.
At the mansion, a SWAT-specific vehicle floored the gas pedal and smashed through the gate into the courtyard. A group of SWAT members in tactical positions jumped out of the vehicle, and after shooting a few rounds to kill the Hyena Gang guards at the mansion, Agent Norton of the Organized Crime Investigation Group, Luo An, and Leyde also rushed in.

"FBI!"
Using a battering ram, SWAT officers smashed the mansion's front door in a single strike, a few of them stormed into the mansion in tactical formation, followed closely by others who began searching the rooms one by one.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Amidst the intense gunfire, members of the Hyena Gang who had been partying all night woke up as if from a dream and scrambled to arm themselves, ready to return fire.
Had they not fired, the SWAT team members would have simply ordered them to drop their weapons, put their pants on, and lie down on the spot.
But as soon as they opened fire, besides the previously briefed high-level gang members, the rest were shot in the head.
"Upstairs! Upstairs!"
"There's also a basement!"
"Move quickly! Move quickly!"
Two SWAT officers with rifles swiftly rushed to the second floor, followed closely by Agent Norton and Luo An.
As one SWAT officer pushed open a room door, the door right across suddenly flung open. Agent Norton saw the gun barrel pointed at his forehead from within the room, his pupils contracting abruptly.
Bang!
Luo An fired a shot and killed the gunman, nodded at Norton and, without a word, continued towards another room.
Kicking down a door, Luo An discovered the master bedroom on the second floor to be eerily empty, causing his brows to furrow tightly.
Agent Norton and a SWAT agent also rushed into the bedroom at that moment, and were stunned to see the empty room.
Then Norton suddenly recalled something, quickly walked to the side of the bed, yanked open the mural, and a door, the same color as the wall, appeared before the three of them:
"It's an elevator!"
Norton rapidly exited the room, while explaining:
"Our undercover had informed me about this, the elevator goes straight to the basement!"
"OK."
Luo An nodded, didn't ask for details, and the three immediately left the room.
They had just reached the staircase when intense gunfire suddenly erupted from the basement, their faces changed instantly, and they quickened their steps down the stairs.
Especially Luo An, he knew that Leyde had headed to the basement earlier, and in his urgent concern, he placed his hands on the stair railings, propelled himself up, kicked off the walls on either side of the staircase with force, and with left and right maneuvering, the entire person flew down the stairs at an astonishing speed.
Norton: "??"
Two SWAT members: "!!"
Thud!
Landing at the turn leading to the basement, an empty elevator came into Luo An's view, with two SWAT members engaged in a shootout at the far end of a room in the basement, while Leyde, fully armed, was collapsed on the ground.
Luo An grabbed Leyde by the feet and forcefully pulled him back to his position, turned him over, and saw that Leyde's body was unharmed, but there were a few strands of white substance on his face.
"Fu-k!"
